The Fall of the Sea‑Sky City Lord

Evan Chu's words made the other elder pause in surprise. He glanced at Evan and said, "I will never choose to submit. You may be powerful, maybe you could easily kill me, but the Sea‑Sky City Lord once gave me a chance when I needed it most—I cannot betray him. Even if it means death, I will fight you!"

"You've got backbone, and guts too. But do you really not realize how foolish this is? Even ants cling to life—let alone people. You'd better think carefully. Make the wrong choice and the only thing waiting for you is death. Killing you would be easy for me, and you know that perfectly well." Evan Chu laughed.

"Enough nonsense. Even if I die today, I have no regrets. I won't become a traitor who betrays gratitude and righteousness. But before I die, can you at least tell me—who are you, really? The Sea Regions have never heard of a powerhouse like you." The elder spoke with a look of resolve, ready to face death.

"Who I am doesn't matter. We had no designs on Sea‑Sky City at all—it's just that the City Lord acted despicably first, so naturally he faces punishment. Go ahead and unleash your strongest martial art. Maybe you'll find a sliver of hope." Evan Chu said.

Truthfully, Evan Chu was pretty frustrated right now. This guy just wouldn't listen. If he could still use the Icefire Divine Eye, he wouldn't even bother wasting words here. But his mind was foggy, Chaos Force inside him was nearly spent, and although the Icefire Divine Eye was powerful, its backlash on the body was enormous.

Meanwhile, the fight between Silver Dragon and the Sea‑Sky City Lord took a dramatic turn. The City Lord was already badly wounded and now clearly weaker than Silver Dragon, struggling hard just to keep up.

He thought the elder who flew over would help him deal with Silver Dragon, but to his shock, that elder came right up and stabbed him straight through the heart. One sword strike, and the Sea‑Sky City Lord was left with half a life.

The Sea‑Sky City Lord never imagined his own trusted subordinate would turn on him. It's just like they say—guard against outsiders all you want, but it's the traitor at home you can't defend against. Enduring the pain, he asked, "Why would you do this to me? I've always treated you well. Why are you betraying me now?"

Silver Dragon was just as baffled, watching the two with a head full of confusion. The whole scene left him stunned, but he was certain the elder only dared attack the City Lord because of Evan Chu. For the two of them to actually bring down five late-stage God-Venerables was something he never would've dreamed of, and his respect for Evan Chu deepened even more.

"City Lord, everyone knows you've treated us well, but I had no choice—when life and death are on the line, survival comes first. As long as I kill you, Young Master will spare me, and maybe I'll even inherit your position as Sea‑Sky City Lord."

"In a world where the weak are prey to the strong, survival is all that matters—everything else is just empty talk. So don't blame me for betraying you! At least before you die, you get the answer you wanted." The elder said, his tone ice-cold.

"Good! Very good! Never thought I'd fall at the hands of my own trusted man today. But don't celebrate too early—even if I die, I'll drag you down with me!" the Sea‑Sky City Lord roared.

At that moment, a golden Immortal Token appeared in his hand. The elder's face changed dramatically at the sight. "Is that... an East Sea Domain Palace transmission token? How do you have one?" he asked urgently.

"Are you really that clueless? Sea‑Sky City has always belonged to the East Sea Domain Palace. Of course I have a transmission token—everyone knows only those of extremely high status in East Sea Domain Palace get one. My status is plenty noble, because I'm the East Sea Domain Lord's youngest son.

So even if I die today, don't think you'll get out alive. I've already infused Divine Power into the token—your faces and the whole situation are recorded inside. The East Sea Domain Palace's people will be here at top speed! Hahaha!" the Sea‑Sky City Lord said, coughing up blood as his face grew even paler.

Silver Dragon's expression changed when he heard that. "You talk too much. Once we kill you, we'll leave—by the time East Sea Domain Palace's people arrive, we'll be long gone. Die!"

As soon as Silver Dragon finished speaking, he launched a rapid attack at the Sea‑Sky City Lord, and the elder also unleashed his martial art. Already gravely injured, the City Lord couldn't survive their combined assault. Just before their attacks landed, he crushed the token in his hand.

Golden light burst forth, illuminating all of Sea‑Sky City as if pouring gold over its ruined streets. Only now did he truly transmit the message—before, he'd just been stalling for time.

No question, under the combined might of Silver Dragon and the elder, the Sea‑Sky City Lord fell on the spot. A late-stage God-Venerable died, his heart full of regret and unwillingness, but unable to change his fate.

Meanwhile, Evan Chu and the loyal elder hadn't fought at all. "You're someone who knows how to repay kindness. I really respect people like that, so I've decided not to kill you. You can go. Just don't spread word of what happened today—and maybe next time we meet, we can be friends for real."

The elder was caught off guard by such a dramatic twist. He stared at Evan Chu, finding it bizarre that Evan would actually spare him. "Why are you doing this? Don't think I'll be grateful just because you let me go. If we ever meet again, I'll kill you to avenge the City Lord—so you'd better think carefully about this decision, or next time, it'll be your turn to die!"

"Heh, I'll be waiting! Now get lost—don't make me change my mind!" Evan Chu said impatiently. Truth was, Evan knew that even if he could kill the guy, it would come at a heavy price. After using Absolute Cleave and the Icefire Divine Eye, his Chaos Divine Power was almost completely drained.

If he tried using Stellar Power and still couldn't kill the guy, he might end up getting hurt himself. Rather than risk it, it was better to play mind games—let the elder stay unsure about Evan's true strength. That way, even if he told others, it would still shock them.

The elder didn't say anything more. He glanced once at the place where the Sea‑Sky City Lord had fallen, bowed, and then flashed away into the sky.

At that, Evan Chu said, "Let's leave too. The Sea‑Sky City Lord already sent his transmission—this place isn't safe anymore. The Sea Regions' top experts will be here soon, so there's no point staying and fighting them head-on. You should go for now. I said I wouldn't kill you, and I won't. Whether you can take the City Lord's seat is up to you."

With that, Evan Chu and Silver Dragon quickly left the City Lord's Mansion, flying toward the inn where Min'er and the middle-aged man were staying. This battle had shaken the whole Sea Regions, and even greater dangers were waiting for Evan Chu ahead...
