Confusing the Two
A look of anguish and indignation appeared on Lily Evans's (Su Li) face, while Marquis Weiyuan and Madam Lou, seeing her in such pain, were absolutely delighted!
The more Lily suffered, the happier they became; both couldn't help but burst into loud laughter.
Just as the two were laughing triumphantly, they suddenly caught a whiff of a familiar, strange fragrance.
Madam Lou felt dazed; she was just about to mention that it smelled like a sedative incense, but as she turned her head, she saw Marquis Weiyuan suddenly collapse to the ground with a thud.
"Marquis!" Madam Lou blurted out, but before she could say anything more, her vision went black and she lost consciousness, collapsing to the floor as well.
Inside the room, a man's cold, disdainful snort echoed.
Alexander Hayes strode out from the inner chamber, his clothes impeccably neat and his expression clear—showing no sign whatsoever of having been drugged.
He quickly walked over to Lily Evans, put his arm around her shoulders, and glanced at the unconscious Marquis and Madam Lou lying on the ground. With a sigh, he said, "My dear, they truly... have disappointed me yet again."
Lily lifted her head and looked at Alexander Hayes, her expression complicated.
Though she had mentally prepared herself, being schemed against by her own parents like this—when the moment actually arrived, it was impossible not to feel hurt.
All Lily could do was tightly grip Alexander Hayes's hand, offering him silent comfort.
Alexander led Lily out of the room, and from the inner chamber, the Blossom Sisters also emerged.
Their clothes were perfectly neat as well.
The Blossom Sisters stepped in front of Alexander and Lily, then knelt before Lily and said in unison, "Your servant greets the mistress."
Lily responded with a quiet 'Mm,' and told them to rise: "No wonder you're girls from Moonlight Pavilion—you've done very well."
"Thank you for your praise, Mistress," the Blossom Sisters replied sweetly.
Lily looked at the two and said, "From now on, you will remain at the Marquis's residence and keep a close watch on their every move. Is that clear?"
"We understand, Mistress. Please rest assured," the Blossom Sisters replied obediently, lowering their eyes.
Lily turned and gave Madam Lou, who lay unconscious on the ground, a cold, hard look.
These Blossom Sisters had, in fact, been purchased by Madam Lou.
