Chapter 1060: Perseverance
Just then, a red whirlwind howled through the battlefield—a massive tornado forcibly swept the intermingled black and orange flames together.
Dida La spat out a mouthful of blood—the backlash of magic was never pleasant.
Though wounded, Dida La still cast a grateful glance at Leon.
Dida La glanced at Leon, didn’t ask why, and immediately cast Flame Bind—four orange fire dragons erupted from the ground, wrapping around the Bone Lord’s legs.
The Bone Lord struggled, shattering one of the fire dragons with brute force, but Dida La kept casting more Flame Binds.
The Grand Chieftain soared into the air, unleashing Battle Aura Slashes one after another to suppress the Bone Lord, keeping it from launching another terrifying attack.
Leon, face grim, summoned Theo. He had Theo try to devour some of the mingled orange and black flames, and once he confirmed Theo could consume them, he unleashed the elemental spirit.
Theo was sent to devour the flames swirling within the tornado overhead. That blazing vortex contained not only the raging wind-fire Leon had just fused, but also Derek’s orange flames, and the highly invasive Devouring Black Flame.
The power of those Devouring Black Flames was nowhere near that of the Bone Lord’s own fire, but it was just right for Theo to feast on.
Leon landed on the ground, transformed into his Lava Avatar, and turned the earth beneath the Bone Lord’s feet into a magma pool, using it to restrain the demon’s movements.
Meanwhile, the Grand Shaman and Grand Chieftain were facing similar trouble. The Bone Lord’s power was terrifying—a single swipe could send the Grand Chieftain flying, and even the Grand Shaman’s lightning did little to harm it.
After swiping at Leon, the Bone Lord hadn’t even finished its follow-up when Dida La unleashed a powerful spell.
Soon, only Dida La, the Grand Chieftain, the Grand Shaman, and Leon remained fighting. The Grand Seer could only stand in the rear, providing support.
Only Leon had a Natural Semi-Plane as a backup—he didn’t need to worry about mana exhaustion at all.
The Grand Chieftain gripped his Fang, unleashing a Battle Aura Slash. The attack condensed instantly into a blood-red fang dozens of meters long.
The fang struck the Bone Lord’s neck—its thick skin and Devouring Black Flame were sliced open. The skin split, and the blood-red fang hit the Bone Lord’s spine with a heavy thud.
With a booming crash, the battle-aura-forged blade actually snapped...
Boom...
A chaotic sphere of energy detonated—the Bone Lord shielded itself with its arms, taking the brunt of the mushroom cloud. Its body only staggered back three steps, and the Devouring Black Flame on its arms was blasted aside, leaving a patch of exposed skin over three meters wide.
As soon as Leon finished speaking, Dida La raised his staff and swiftly chanted an incantation. A Flame Serpent, over a hundred meters long, erupted forth—like a giant python, it wrapped tightly around the Bone Lord’s legs.
The Bone Lord roared, the flames in its eyes turning blood-red. A surge of violent, evil energy spread as its colossal, two-hundred-meter body hunched low.
In the next instant, the earth exploded—the ground rolled up like a thick carpet. The Bone Lord’s massive frame crossed two or three hundred meters in a blink, its bulk shattering the air with sheer force.
Its huge claws swept out, covering dozens of meters, slashing toward Leon.
Leon’s expression shifted. The raging wind-fire swirling around him suddenly surged—violent winds seemed to tear at his body, yanking him back over a hundred meters, even faster than a flame blink.
The massive claws scraped past Leon, missing a direct hit, but the wind force trailing them slammed his shield like a giant’s palm.
In an instant, all nine layers of Leon’s wind-fire shields detonated; his mana shield and triple-elemental shield exploded next, and finally, the rune shield began flickering wildly with runic light—countless runes flashed as if the shield might burst.
Leon’s face paled—his mana was in chaos.
The rune shield was nearly shredded by the force trailing those giant claws. Ever since Leon reached Eighth-Rank Title Archmage and fused wind rules, his rune count had skyrocketed—now over seven hundred thousand.
That number of runes would drive any Title Archmage to despair—most never see that many in their entire lives.
Such an immense number of runes gave the rune shield terrifying defensive power—it could take a direct hit from a ninth-level transcendent spell without breaking.
But now, just a glancing blow from the Bone Lord’s giant claw nearly shattered it. This kind of strength was enough to make anyone despair.
After swiping at Leon, the Bone Lord hadn’t even finished its follow-up when Dida La unleashed a powerful spell.
Low-level spells were useless against the Bone Lord now—only advanced magic, at least seventh-level, could hope to do any damage.
Dida La gathered the sea of fire, channeling all his power into a Detonation. A massive orange fireball, seventy or eighty meters wide, crashed down on the Bone Lord’s head. The blast was blinding—like a giant’s slap across the Bone Lord’s face, stopping its charge cold.
Beneath the Bone Lord’s skin, its thick, jet-black bones were covered in dense magical patterns. The Grand Chieftain’s full-strength strike left only a shallow mark, and even that was slowly healing...
A shadow flickered—a dark blur appeared beside the stunned Grand Chieftain, sending him flying with a single blow.
