"Are you trying to rebel against the heavens or what!"
Henry Wang was furious, shouting at Evan Lin.
The students of Class 12 peeked out from their classroom into the corridor, and many were inwardly shocked by the scene unfolding before them.
It's in students' nature to fear their teachers.
And Henry Wang wasn't just any teacher—he taught the Experimental Class at Capitalview First High.
To outsiders, teachers like him were the kind you had to butter up and build good relationships with. Even to students, facing a teacher meant mostly respect and awe.
But Evan Lin’s fearless attitude left many with mixed feelings.
"If it comes down to it, even turning the world upside down isn’t out of the question," Evan said with a smile.
He had no intention of laying a hand on Henry Wang.
Ever since Evan started at this school, Henry Wang had been out to get him—but Evan couldn’t be bothered to stir up trouble on campus.
Henry Wang’s face grew darker while Evan stayed as calm as ever. Their standoff just made Henry look even more awkward.
"You really think I can't handle you now, huh?" Henry Wang snarled, pulling out his phone and dialing furiously.
"Hello? Director Lu! Are you free right now? I’m waiting for you outside Class 12!"
"Yes, right now! Please come over as soon as you can!"
Henry Wang's voice was stern. After speaking, he hung up, then sneered at Evan: "You won't even get the chance to take the test now!"
"You told me not to take you seriously? I hope you can keep that same attitude when the time comes!"
Henry Wang crossed his arms, clearly furious.
"He's finished—Wang definitely called the Director. Evan's skipped so many classes, that's enough to get expelled. Now he's pissed off Wang too, he's basically asking for it."
Nearby, a student heard Wang’s words and felt a chill. Looking at Evan, their eyes showed a hint of pity.
If Evan had good grades, ranked high in the monthly exams, and kept up his overall performance—plus his Olympiad win and police commendation—even Henry Wang wouldn't be able to get him expelled.
But now things were different—skipping the monthly exam, failing science, and mouthing off to a teacher in public. With all these violations, if it really got reported to the Director, he could actually get expelled.
"You really think I can't handle you now, huh?" Henry Wang snapped, gritting his teeth as he yanked out his phone and dialed a number with a huff.
"Hello? Director Lu! Are you free right now? I'm waiting for you outside Class 12!"

"I hope you can keep up that tough attitude," Evan nodded.
Those words made Henry Wang’s anger flare again, but he forced himself to wait for Director Ben Lu to arrive.
It wasn’t long before Director Ben Lu hurried down the corridor toward them.
"What’s going on, Mr. Wang? Why did you call me over in such a rush?" Director Lu asked with a smile.
Seeing Henry Wang’s sour expression and the calm Evan standing before him, Director Lu sensed trouble.
"What else? Director Lu, I’m subbing for Teacher Byron Yang today, giving a math test, but this kid was totally out of line! Not only did he walk out in front of everyone, he even told me not to take myself too seriously! So tell me—how do we deal with this?"
Henry Wang’s face darkened when Director Lu arrived, his anger barely contained.
"Uh…"
Director Lu frowned, glanced at Evan, and cleared his throat: "Evan Lin, right? When you first came to the school I thought you had real potential—after all, you won first place in the Math Olympiad. But lately, you’ve been getting more and more arrogant."
"You missed the monthly exams, flunked basic science—what’s going on with you? Mr. Wang asked you to take a test, and you have a problem with that? When a teacher gives a student an assignment, it’s not to harm you!"
Seeing Evan’s calm face, Director Lu grew angrier: "You’re just asking for trouble! You even dared to throw punches at the Teacher–Student Assembly! That’s never happened before at Capitalview First High!"
Director Lu was practically spitting as he ranted nonstop.
Just like Henry Wang, Director Lu had always found Evan insufferable.
Before, Evan had all kinds of honors—nobody dared touch him, not even Director Lu, for fear of upsetting the principal.
But after Evan’s science grades tanked and rumors spread about him skipping class, Director Lu had been looking for an excuse to assert his authority.
When Henry Wang called, Director Lu had already guessed what was up. As he walked down the hall, he slowed his pace in front of other classrooms to make sure plenty of students saw him.
And now, in the corridor, he could publicly scold Evan—the school troublemaker—and make himself look good in front of everyone.
"Why aren’t you saying anything? Evan Lin, right? Do you realize that if your math teacher hadn’t fought to get you in, you never would have set foot in Capitalview First High?"
"And now look at you, wasting your chance at a top school! Don’t say I didn’t warn you—our school rules are the strictest in the province. If you don’t want to study here, then get out now!"
Director Lu shouted at Evan.
Some students secretly cheered, while others looked at Evan with pity.
Evan didn’t bother to say anything. Just then, his old Nokia phone started buzzing.
The call was from an unfamiliar number.
Evan glanced at the screen, ignored Henry Wang and Director Lu, and answered the call.
