"Yes, that's right. I am."
"I'm at school right now. You can come over."
Evan Lin answered the call, ignoring everyone else and speaking simply.
Henry Wang's face flushed as Evan completely ignored him. "It's class time right now! How dare you answer your phone in class? Using your phone right in front of us?"
"You clearly don't respect me or Director Lu at all!"
Henry Wang scolded harshly, his voice ringing out.
Director Ben Lu stood nearby, his face cold and expressionless.
The man quickly spotted Evan Lin and the group by the classroom door. He kept a straight face, walked up, and gave Evan a little nod. "So, can we bounce now or what?"
Ben Lu, as Director of Academic Affairs, was famous throughout the school. No student had ever dared to challenge him like this before.
"Looks like this student's sense of discipline is far too low. If you're so unwilling to follow the rules, then come with me to the principal's office later! No matter what you say this time, I'm going to make you realize your mistake! Students like you really think you're something special!" Ben Lu's tone turned icy, his gaze toward Evan growing even harsher.
The students around Evan looked at him with pity.
To force Ben Lu to say something like that, you had to have guts—but the consequences were probably going to be serious.
Not far away, a burly man in a black T-shirt and sunglasses strode toward them.
His face was tense, and just one glance at him gave off a powerful sense of pressure. The faint killing aura he exuded was enough to make ordinary people instinctively afraid.
The man quickly spotted Evan Lin and the group standing at the classroom door. His expression remained serious as he walked up and nodded slightly to Evan. "Excuse me, can we leave now?"
Standing before Evan, his eyes—hidden behind the sunglasses—were filled with respect.
This man was none other than Blade, the bodyguard who had followed Su Yuantian at the Three Thousand Mountains of Minghai.
Before Evan could speak, Ben Lu reacted instantly. His eyes swept over Blade, sizing him up with clear annoyance. "Are you his cousin? You were the one who just called him, right?"
"Seriously, you two think you're above the rules now? Don't you know it's class time? As a student, his one job is to hit the books! What, you wanna take him out somewhere? Go mess around? Looks like you're both on a power trip! What do you think Capitalview First High is, huh—a playground? Got any clue at all?"
Ben Lu jabbed a finger at Blade's face, spittle flying as he shouted.
He'd come here on Colonel Su's orders to pick Evan up for military training, but honestly? With Evan pulling off stunts like this, Blade couldn't believe the guy was still just a high schooler.
"Let's go raise hell with the principal!"
Ben Lu nodded furiously, face dark as a thundercloud. He was just about to storm off to Principal Damon Deng's office with Henry Wang when, out of nowhere, Principal Damon Deng came sprinting over at breakneck speed.
"Principal?"
Just now, he was chilling in his office making tea when the Education Bureau chief suddenly called him up! The call was so random, at first Damon thought it was about some new school initiative. But the usually mellow, easygoing bureau chief sounded dead serious—and gave Damon a stern warning that left him totally confused.
Only at the end did the chief finally spell it out: give a student named Evan Lin a few days off—no excuses. Or else, deal with the fallout yourself!
He was so spooked by the Education Bureau chief calling in person to excuse a student that he didn't dare drag his feet. Damon bolted over here, terrified he'd be even a second too late.
"Yeah! I tried to discipline him, and he straight-up told me I wasn't qualified! You ask me, a student like that needs to get the boot—just expel him already!" Henry Wang said, full of righteous fury.
But Principal Deng just let out a huge sigh of relief. "He's gone already? Good, good, that's perfect. If he's left, then when he gets back, just—actually, Henry, go ahead and write him a retroactive leave slip. I'll sign it myself."
And with that, everyone watched as Principal Damon Deng, who'd just sprinted over like his life depended on it, suddenly switched gears, strolling off upstairs without a care in the world.
The whole school went nuts.
