Falling Together, Never Admitting His Possessiveness
The secret tunnel was very close to the operating room. Led by Ninth Royal Uncle's personal guards, Serena and her group quickly entered the passage, not daring to delay even a moment as they hurried inside.
As soon as everyone entered the secret tunnel, there was a loud boom—the entrance was instantly sealed off.
Serena didn’t foolishly ask what would happen to Ninth Royal Uncle and the others. She knew that as long as they evacuated safely, that was the best way to help him. He would definitely have a way to leave the villa.
There was only one path in the secret tunnel, so everyone just had to follow closely. Because of the Crown Prince’s condition, they didn’t dare run too fast. Serena, though exhausted, barely managed to keep up, but she had to stay alert to the Crown Prince. Distracted for a moment, she stumbled and nearly fell—luckily, Simon Sun reacted quickly and caught her. "Master," he called.
"I’m fine. Go look after the Crown Prince," Serena said weakly, pushing Simon Sun’s hand away.
"But you…" Simon Sun looked worried. Serena shook her head, signaling him not to say more. At a time like this, everyone was busy trying to escape—she couldn’t become a burden.
"Just make sure the Crown Prince is safe."
"Got it," Simon Sun replied immediately, running to the Crown Prince’s side and taking Serena’s place. Serena could finally breathe a little easier.
"Everyone, be careful—there’s a turn ahead!" the leading guard shouted. Before anyone could respond, a deafening explosion echoed behind them, making the tunnel tremble. More blasts quickly followed…
"Not good—they’re blowing up the tunnel!" As soon as the words left her mouth, Serena felt the ground shake violently, the earth raining down around them.
"Run!" Felix Dongling immediately ordered. But Serena shouted, "Careful with the Crown Prince! Don’t jolt him!"
"Protect the Crown Prince! Run, run!"
After the tunnel was blown up, the attackers started throwing thunder-blast grenades inside. Felix Dongling’s face changed dramatically and he shouted, "Quick! Get out of here first!"
Trapped in the tunnel, they couldn’t retreat or fight head-on. At this moment, running was their only choice. Serena knew desperate times called for desperate measures—she rushed forward and pulled out the Crown Prince’s IV bottle, urging, "Go! We can’t worry about anything else now. Move! Get out first!"
The tunnel was collapsing too fast. If this kept up, they would all be buried alive.
"Yes!" The guards didn’t dare hesitate. The Crown Prince’s condition was important, but if they didn’t escape, everyone would die here—including him. Rather than being buried alive, they had to risk everything together.
At this point, no one cared about anything except running. As they sprinted for their lives, Serena found that her depleted strength seemed to return—she suddenly had the energy to keep fighting.
Run! Run!
Boom… boom… The tunnel behind them collapsed section by section. Dirt and stones kept falling, stinging painfully when they hit, but no one had time to dodge. Everyone just charged forward with their heads down. Only those guarding the Crown Prince paid attention to shielding him from the falling debris.
"Simon, hurry!" Dr. Redwater saw Simon Sun struggling and reached out to pull him forward.
"I... I can't go on. You guys go," Simon Sun gasped. Though he was in decent shape, he was still just an ordinary doctor. After running for a stretch, he was out of breath and started falling behind.
"No way. We can’t leave you here!" Dr. Redwater grabbed Simon Sun and dragged him forward, even helping him dodge a falling rock along the way.
"Simon, don’t think about anything else—just get out!" Serena’s stamina wasn’t the best, but her willpower, endurance, and survival instinct were far stronger than most. Unless she collapsed, she would never stop.
She didn’t want to die—not at all.
With everyone supporting each other, they rushed forward and finally reached the tunnel exit before it collapsed. The Crown Prince’s party was the first out, followed closely by Serena and Simon Sun, with Felix Dongling coming out last.
Barely out, before anyone could catch their breath, they saw a huge boulder rolling down the mountainside—heading straight for the Crown Prince.
No—
"Get out of the way! Protect the Crown Prince!" Serena screamed in terror and rushed forward, trying to shield the Crown Prince herself.
If that boulder hit, the Crown Prince would be dead for sure. She absolutely couldn’t let it crush his chest.
But someone was even faster. Before the stretcher bearers could react, Felix Dongling rushed in front of the Crown Prince, gripped the stretcher on both sides, and braced himself, using his body as a living shield.
Thud—the boulder slammed into Felix Dongling’s back. His face twisted in pain as he cried out, his body pitching forward uncontrollably, but he managed to hold himself up enough not to collapse directly onto the Crown Prince.
Crash—the boulder hit the ground. Serena breathed a sigh of relief. Felix Dongling managed a weak smile and slowly stood up, but after swaying twice, he suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood and collapsed forward.
"Careful!" Serena didn’t have time to shield the Crown Prince, but she managed to catch Felix Dongling as he fell. However, she wasn’t strong enough herself; the force of his fall knocked her backward, and with a thud, both of them crashed to the ground—Felix landing right on top of her.
"Tha..." Felix Dongling forced a strained smile, trying to say "Thank you," but before he could finish, he collapsed onto Serena, who also passed out from the impact.
So much had happened in just two short hours—she couldn’t hold on any longer. She needed rest!
The sudden accident stunned everyone. When they finally reacted, they realized Felix Dongling and Serena were both unconscious on the ground.
Simon Sun shouted, and together with the guards, rushed forward to lift Felix Dongling. But at that moment, Ninth Royal Uncle arrived with his men: "Why are you still here?"
Uh... The guards froze and instinctively bowed in apology. Ninth Royal Uncle ignored them, stepped forward, and seeing Felix Dongling and Serena collapsed together, a flash of anger crossed his eyes. He pulled Felix up without any gentleness, not caring if he was injured, and threw him to the guards. "Carry Prince Felix down and take good care of him," he ordered.
"Yes." The guards lowered their heads, not daring to look at Ninth Royal Uncle. They had evacuated first, but ended up coming out later than him—and in such a sorry state. They were thoroughly ashamed.
In contrast to how he treated Felix, Ninth Royal Uncle bent down and gently picked Serena up. "What’s wrong with Miss Serena?" he asked.
Of course, Ninth Royal Uncle would never admit he was actually wondering how Felix ended up falling together with Serena—and whether his own possessiveness was flaring up.
