Committing a Blunder, Ordering Ninth Royal Uncle’s Execution
Of course the personal guards weren’t just for show, but everything happened so fast they didn’t have time to react. Now that Ninth Royal Uncle is asking, all they can do is...
Lower their heads, keep silent, and say nothing.
Ninth Royal Uncle swept his cold gaze around the crowd, then fixed his eyes on Simon Sun. Seeing Simon about to speak, Ninth Royal Uncle asked him, “What happened here?”
Simon stepped forward, just about to answer, when Dr. Redwater tugged at him, warning him not to speak carelessly.
But Simon didn’t understand. He glanced back, then looked up and asked, “Uncle Redwater, why are you pulling on my clothes?”
At the same moment, Ninth Royal Uncle’s gaze fell on Dr. Redwater. Redwater secretly cursed his luck—dealing with a natural airhead was terrifying. Facing Nolan’s cold stare, Redwater forced a fake smile and said, “It’s nothing, your clothes just had a bit of dirt. I was cleaning it off for you.”
After saying that, he even patted Simon’s clothes twice for good measure.
"Oh." Simon actually believed such a flimsy excuse. Redwater wanted to bang his head against the wall. Dr. Marcus Guile patted Redwater’s shoulder in silent comfort.
Thinking back to how frustrated Serena used to be, they felt much better about their own situation.
“Simon.” Ninth Royal Uncle reminded him. The guards kept their heads down, not daring to speak, secretly anxious that Simon might expose their negligence. But they overestimated the natural airhead’s ability—what is a natural airhead?
His priorities are always just a little bit different from everyone else’s.
Ninth Royal Uncle was clearly asking why Felix and Serena ended up falling together, but Simon replied, “Ninth Royal Uncle, why are you blocking us here? Both the Crown Prince and Master are in bad condition and need immediate treatment. You’re blocking the Crown Prince here and holding Master in your arms without moving—do you not want to save them?”
Hahaha, a natural airhead really is a natural airhead. As soon as Simon said this, Dr. Redwater couldn’t help but laugh, while Ninth Royal Uncle’s face turned dark.
Simon’s words were a direct hit. If Ninth Royal Uncle kept pressing the issue, it would mean he was refusing to save the Crown Prince and Serena—a blame he couldn’t shake off.
If it were anyone else, Nolan could accuse them of ulterior motives. But since it was Simon, Nolan knew he was just voicing his honest thoughts.
For the first time, Nolan was left speechless. After staring at Simon for a moment, he decided to drop the matter—saving lives was more important.
The guards quietly breathed a sigh of relief and shot Simon a grateful look, leaving Simon baffled, while Dr. Redwater was so amused he couldn’t stop grinning.
A rabbit with three burrows—Nolan quickly relocated everyone to safety. Dr. Marcus Guile, Dr. Redwater, and Simon each took charge of a patient: Dr. Guile went to check on Serena, Dr. Redwater treated Felix, and Simon was left to care for the most troublesome patient, the Crown Prince.
The Crown Prince’s wound had started to split from all the jostling, and since he hadn’t received proper post-operative care, he developed a fever that very night.
Simon wished he could split himself in two, and only now did he realize just how exhausting it was for Serena to do the work of two—or even several—people all by herself.
