Lola blurted out again, "Yeah, she's not even worth a fart!"

Sophie White's face flushed red, like a slab of pork liver. She never imagined Lily Evans would embarrass her so publicly!

As a member of the Prince of Qin's Manor, shouldn't one be virtuous and well-mannered?

How could this Lily be so arrogant, attacking me with words before we've even met face to face?

Sophie White, still young and inexperienced, was thrown off by a few sharp words and couldn't keep her composure. She retorted sarcastically, "Hmph! If you don't want to admit it, suit yourselves! Just wait until Alex comes back—you'll see how close I am to him!"

After speaking, Sophie remembered her original purpose—she was here to outshine Lily Evans and put her in her place.

Sophie quickly recovered and said, "Princess Consort, I'm a guest here. I came to visit you and the Young Heir, and yet you block me at the door without even offering me tea! Where are your manners?"

Lily Evans replied gently, "Miss Bianca, as we've said, the new mother is still in confinement and shouldn't see outsiders. Did you not hear, or do you just not understand?"

"Hmph! Even Alex wouldn't dare treat me like this, but you do!" Sophie White stomped her foot angrily, thinking back to her days in the military camp when she ruled the roost thanks to Alex.

Yet Lily Evans, just a mere woman, dared to humiliate her again and again!

Sophie White was about to explode with rage!

Just as Sophie was about to blow her top, she heard footsteps outside. Turning around, she saw Alex striding into the courtyard.

Spotting Alex, Sophie instantly put on a pitiful face and rushed over, clutching her gifts. She whined, "Alex, you’re finally here! I was hurt recently and couldn’t visit Sister-in-law and the Young Heir, and I've been so anxious. Now that I’ve recovered, I came right away. But who knew Sister-in-law would be so cold, not even letting me in the door, and humiliating me in public! Alex, I came with good intentions, but was met with such shame. It really breaks my heart, boo hoo hoo…"

As Sophie spoke, she started to sob, looking as if she’d been terribly bullied. She leaned her body toward Alex, trying to get close.

Xiao Yun watched Sophie, who just moments ago looked ready for a fight, suddenly switch gears and act all fragile, crying and leaning on the Prince. That was… one impressive mood swing!

No wonder Peony warned everyone to watch out for Sophie White. She said Sophie was up to no good around the Prince, and Peony really does have a sharp eye for people.

Xiao Yun saw Sophie about to lean on Alex and felt a surge of panic!

Just as Xiao Yun was fretting, Alex suddenly moved. Before Xiao Yun could even see how he did it, Lola was standing where Alex had been.

Sophie, caught off guard, ended up tumbling right into Lola’s arms. She was secretly delighted, thinking: If I’m in Alex’s embrace, Lily Evans will be furious!

Lola looked expressionlessly at Sophie, who was crying with her eyes closed, and patted her. "Hey, Miss White, your head is so big and heavy, my shoulder’s going numb. I’m just a kid—give my poor shoulder a break, will you?"

Sophie heard a voice above her and opened her eyes—startled!

Wasn’t she supposed to be in Alex’s arms? How did she end up on the girl guard’s shoulder?!
