I Will Marry You

"What are you getting at?" Justin Guo really didn't want to think about that possibility.

Louis Lin felt a real sense of 'misery loves company,' nodded, and said, "You should just give up on that idea sooner rather than later!"

"No way! Little Fish isn't a spiritual cultivator—she's just a regular person!" Justin Guo blurted out, totally in disbelief.

"What does a guy liking a girl have to do with being a spiritual cultivator? Don't you like her too?" Louis Lin shot back.

"Me too, I guess."

Justin Guo's face fell.

"Go home and pull yourself together!" Louis Lin patted him on the shoulder and walked off.

......

Grace returned to the Frostmoon Quarters. Evan Xiao had already showered, changed into his comfy home clothes, and headed to the study.

"General, I heard from Louis Lin you were looking for me?"

"Mm." Evan Xiao replied. "Grind the ink."

"Oh..." Grace obediently went over and started grinding the ink.

She couldn't figure it out—how could a general have so many documents to deal with all day long?

She couldn't help sneaking a peek at those documents.

To her surprise, she couldn't even recognize the writing on them!

And the material wasn't normal paper—it actually looked like it was woven from golden silk...

What is this, seriously?

Evan Xiao noticed her pause, glanced over, and saw her staring at the documents with wide, fuzzy eyes full of curiosity—she looked absolutely adorable.

He got up and scooted his chair back a little.

Grace was clueless about what he was doing, but suddenly he pulled her by the arm—and before she knew it, she was sitting right on his lap.

Grace yelped, startled. "General...!"

Evan Xiao didn't say a word, just wrapped his arms around her and kept reading.

"General, what does this mean?" Grace asked, her heart thumping like crazy.

"You've succeeded in seducing me," Evan Xiao said.

Seducing?

She'd been so busy worrying about those two spies lately, she hadn't even started seducing him yet...

"General, do you mean... you want to—" She stared at his chiseled, almost inhumanly handsome face, stumbling over her words.

Evan Xiao leaned down and kissed her.

All the blood rushed to Grace's head; her face turned bright red. She clapped a hand over her mouth, utterly shocked.

She looked just like a startled little hamster.

Evan Xiao laughed, moved her hand away, and kissed her again.

This time, the kiss was much deeper—he sucked on her soft lips, held her tighter, kissed her harder, like he wanted to melt her right into himself.

After a long moment, he realized she wasn't even breathing.

He suddenly pulled back, frowned, and said, "Breathe!"

Grace finally gasped for air, feeling dizzy.

"Can you be any sillier? It's not even your first kiss, and you still forgot to breathe?" Evan Xiao teased.

Grace blinked, too nervous to say a word.

She was scared she was dreaming, and if she spoke, she'd wake up.

Evan Xiao smiled at her, then held her as he kept reading his documents.

After a long wait, Grace realized this was real—she wasn't dreaming. She finally asked, very carefully, "General, are you planning to take me as your concubine?"

That meant she could... hahaha!

"Take you as my concubine?" Evan Xiao's voice sounded above her head.

"Uh? Not a concubine? Then... a bed maid?" Well, as long as she could sleep with him, that was fine.

Evan Xiao looked down at her, and said seriously, word by word: "I will marry you."

"Marry me?" Grace was stunned. "Marry me as your wife?"
