That Guy Dared to Turn Off His Phone

"Are you insane, Henry Zhang? You actually dared to bring out the keycard for Villa No. 1?" Kevin Shao's face twisted in shock as he saw Henry Zhang produce the pale-gold card, barking furiously: "Villa No. 1 is reserved for the Summer Family and people from above—no one else can book it!"

"You brought out the keycard for Villa No. 1 without my permission? Are you trying to get yourself fired? If Chairman Summer finds out, even I'll be in trouble!"

Kevin Shao shouted in a harsh voice.

Villa No. 1 was a place reserved specifically for the Summer Family and true power players.

Normally, even if some big boss offered an outrageous price, this villa wouldn't be handed over so easily.

Usually, the keycard for Villa No. 1 was kept locked in a safe—it only came out when cleaning was needed.

Seeing Henry Zhang holding that keycard now, Kevin Shao was completely thrown off.

Derek Zhang, knowing exactly what that card meant, took the chance to sneer: "Kevin, looks like your subordinate really is brain-damaged."

"How can someone like that stay in the company? You should just fire him already," Sharon Chen said coldly from nearby.

Neil Kong shook his head slightly, suddenly feeling it was ridiculous to get worked up over someone as brainless as Henry Zhang.

Henry Zhang, for his part, didn't say a word—instead, he walked straight over to Evan Lin, who was standing in front of Kevin Shao.

Evan, this is the keycard for Villa No. 1. I've already arranged for it to be cleaned; it should be ready in half an hour. Please wait a bit before moving in.

"Also, if there's anything you'd like to eat tonight, just let me know. I'm already preparing the banquet for you."

Henry Zhang plastered on a big smile, looking at Evan Lin with a tone and posture so humble it bordered on groveling.

The whole place went dead silent!

Lucy Lu and Joy Zheng stared at Lin Yi, mouths slightly open, unable to react for a long moment.

Yolanda Fang muttered, "Whoa, whoa, looks like that Young Master Summer is pretty generous, huh?"

Lynn Chen frowned.

Ryan Chen's face turned ice-cold. He was always the center of attention, but today, that Evan Lin guy kept stealing his spotlight without even trying!

That kid was dirt poor! No money, no status, nothing but a worthless life! How dare he!

Ryan Chen clenched his fists, while Ivy Zhang and Yolanda Wang stared blankly, totally confused, their eyes full of bewilderment as they looked at Evan Lin.

Neil Kong and Sharon Xiao looked weirded out. Stella Cui and Sharon Xiao just stood there, dumbfounded and at a loss.

"Kevin? What the hell is going on here!" Derek Zhang snapped back to his senses and stared at Evan Lin.

In their eyes, that young man took the keycard for Villa No. 1 from Henry Zhang's hand with total calm, looking as if nothing could faze him—there wasn't a hint of surprise on his face!

It was like, to him, all this was just business as usual.

Kevin Shao suddenly whipped his head around, glaring at Henry Zhang and practically grinding his teeth: "Henry Zhang! You'd better explain what's going on today!"

"Who gave you the authority to book Villa No. 2 without my permission? And on top of that, you brought out the keycard for Villa No. 1!" Kevin Shao finished, pointing straight at Evan Lin's face and shouting, "Don't tell me this kid qualifies to live in Villa No. 1! That place isn't for some random nobody!"

Bang!

Before Shao Zhengkai could finish, he was sent flying.

Everyone watched as his body traced an arc through the air, landing straight in the nearby pool with a loud splash.

Evan Lin slowly drew his foot back, his expression cold: "Random nobody?"

"Evan, I'm so sorry! That Kevin Shao is just an idiot! Please, don't get angry!" Henry Zhang jumped in, terrified he'd get caught in the crossfire.

Seeing Kevin Shao get kicked flying, Derek Zhang's face changed. Then, watching Henry Zhang grovel so desperately to Evan Lin, he couldn't help but shout: "Are you his dog, Henry Zhang? Did this kid get something on you or what?"

Derek Zhang basically voiced what everyone else was thinking.

Sharon Xiao and Stella Cui didn't know what to say. Neil Kong and Sharon Xiao looked conflicted, their eyes locked on Evan Lin as their thoughts raced.

Dripping wet, Kevin Shao dragged himself out of the pool, roaring in frustration: "Security! Where's security? Henry Zhang, go call the guards! This is outrageous!"

"Sorry, Manager Kevin, I don't think I can help you with that. You're not fit to work today—why not go home and take a vacation?" Henry Zhang looked at Kevin Shao with a hint of pity. Maybe Kevin Shao still didn't realize just who he was messing with.

"Give me a break! You think you can tell me to take a vacation? I'm the general manager here! I run this place!" Kevin Shao shouted, dripping and looking especially pathetic.

He glared at Evan Lin, yelling, "Oh, you think you're tough? Daring to hit me, huh? Today I'm going to—"

Before he could finish, he saw Evan Lin casually pull out his phone, dial a number, glance at it, and when it connected, everyone heard Evan Lin's flat voice: "Yeah, Summer Mu? The GM of White Dragon Mountain Resort, Kevin Shao—he's fired."

After saying that, Evan Lin hung up.

Summer Mu?

Kevin Shao's face twitched at the name. Neil Kong and Sharon Xiao frowned. "Are you kidding? Putting on airs like that—do you even know who Summer Mu is? Quit pretending to be some big shot!"

Neil Kong was quietly seething—he'd wanted to humiliate Joy Zheng, but now her son was showing them all up.

"Summer Mu is Sawyer Summer's son! The son of River City's new richest man! You think just anyone can know him?" Stella Cui chimed in, finally catching on.

Even as she said that, though, she couldn't help feeling uneasy—the Villa No. 2 keycard in Lucy's hand and the Villa No. 1 card in Evan Lin's hand sure didn't look fake.

"You're messing with me, right?" Kevin Shao wiped his face, just starting to recover, when suddenly Henry Zhang's phone started ringing.

Henry Zhang glanced at the caller ID, answered, and before he could say much, everyone nearby could hear the cold voice from the other end: "Put the phone to Kevin Shao—that brat actually dared to turn his phone off on me?"
