Fang You and Lynn Chen both knew that Evan Lin was acquainted with that so-called Young Master Summer, and that Young Master Summer seemed to have deep ties with this resort. But no matter how close their relationship, could Young Master Summer really come running out and fire Derek Zhang just because Evan Lin said so?
Just thinking about it seemed kind of unrealistic. After all, if it was just a normal friendship, there’d be no need to give someone that much face.
But now, looking at Evan Lin standing in front of them, they couldn’t shake the feeling that he wasn’t joking.
Joy Zheng and Lucy Lu’s expressions froze for a moment after hearing Evan’s words, both of them silent for quite a while.
“Who are you going to call, huh? Are you going to call your teacher and have them come fire him for you?” Neil Kong sneered from the side. “You’re just a kid—what are you thinking? You really think you’re the center of the universe and everyone’s supposed to revolve around you?”
Neil’s words instantly set off a burst of laughter from the crowd. In their eyes, Evan was just throwing a childish tantrum—at this moment, they looked at Evan like he was some kind of idiot.
“You’re that amazing? I really hadn’t noticed. I just hope you don’t chicken out when it’s time to make that call!” Derek Zhang grinned, looking at Evan Lin with amusement.
Right then, not far away, Henry Zhang was striding over quickly.
Derek Zhang turned and saw Henry approaching, then snorted coldly. “You little brat, let me deal with Henry first, then I’ll settle accounts with you!”
“Don’t forget—you absolutely have to make that call later! I’m honestly curious what kind of big shot you think you know!”
Derek Zhang’s words were loud and cutting, full of cold sarcasm.
Meanwhile, Henry Zhang had already walked over. His gaze swept across the crowd, and when he saw Evan Lin, his face broke into a smile and he hurried over toward Evan.
Evan Lin and Derek Zhang were standing together, so when Derek saw Henry coming over, he assumed Henry was heading his way and immediately puffed out his chest.
Before Henry could get close, Kevin Shao had already stepped in front of him.
Henry felt a bit annoyed—he’d wanted to chat with Evan Lin, but since Kevin Shao was his direct superior, he couldn’t just ignore him. So he stopped, smiled at Kevin, and said, “Manager Shao, you called me over in such a hurry—what’s going on?”
At this moment, everyone’s eyes were fixed on Henry.
Lucy Lu and Joy Zheng looked at Henry with a bit of worry, while the people who’d just been left choking on car exhaust by Henry were all watching gleefully, waiting for him to get chewed out.
They were all waiting to see Henry get totally roasted!
“So you still remember I’m your Manager Shao, huh?” Kevin Shao squinted at Henry, his gaze icy.
“Come on, Manager Shao, what’s happened?” Henry smiled and tried to play nice.
“You’re asking me what happened? Don’t you know that Mr. Zhang used to be my manager?” Kevin Shao’s face darkened. He glanced at Derek Zhang, then quickly turned back and pointed at Henry. “If Mr. Zhang hadn’t promoted me back then, I wouldn’t be where I am today. And you—how did you treat Mr. Zhang just now?”
“Mr. Zhang and the others hadn’t even gotten in the car, and you just drove off? This kid said he told you to drive, and you listened to him? Do you even respect Mr. Zhang? Do you even respect me, Kevin Shao?” Kevin’s voice was low and harsh as he glared at Henry, letting loose a tirade.
“I even booked the villa in advance, and Villa No. 2 was clearly empty, but you still didn’t save it for me. What’s that supposed to mean? Or do you just have it out for me?” Derek Zhang chimed in at just the right moment, looking smug. He couldn’t control Henry, but he could always find someone to do it for him!
“Well, Villa No. 2 has already been reserved,” Henry said, his eyes unconsciously flicking toward Evan Lin.
But nobody noticed that tiny gesture.
“Reserved? How come I didn’t know?” Kevin Shao sneered.
“It was booked yesterday. I just haven’t had a chance to tell you yet.”
Having to answer Kevin Shao’s aggressive questions in front of everyone made Henry feel pretty uncomfortable and embarrassed.
“Yesterday?” Kevin Shao frowned. “You’re saying it was reserved yesterday, and I didn’t know? When the villas get booked, you don’t even notify me?”
“It all happened so fast—I really didn’t have time to let you know. I was planning to tell you when you arrived at the resort today.” Henry took a deep breath.
Kevin Shao waved his hand impatiently. “Enough with the excuses. You know how important the villas are—no matter who you booked Villa No. 2 for, go find the guest and tell them it’s been reassigned. Move them to a high-end hotel room instead.”
“I’m afraid that won’t work.” Henry shook his head before Kevin had even finished speaking.
“It won’t work?” Kevin Shao raised an eyebrow. “Who’s in charge here, you or me?”
Seeing Henry actually dare to stand up to him here, Kevin Shao was already getting angry. “And who did you reserve Villa No. 2 for?”
Kevin wasn’t stupid. When Henry refused to back down even at the risk of getting chewed out, he got suspicious—maybe the guest was someone he really shouldn’t offend.
“Villa No. 2 was reserved in advance for these two ladies. I was just about to bring them the key card.” Henry turned and looked straight at Lucy Lu and Joy Zheng. After speaking, he smiled and hurried forward, pulling out a villa key card and respectfully handing it to Lucy and Joy.
“Sorry, ladies. I should’ve given you this card back in the car, but I forgot. Please forgive me.” Henry bent low, showing genuine humility.
Lucy was a bit stunned and didn’t really know what was going on, but she smiled and accepted the villa key card anyway—otherwise, Henry wouldn’t have had a way to save face.
She figured Charles Chen must’ve booked it ahead of time.
Lucy thought this and silently raised her estimation of Charles Chen, surprised at how thoughtful he was.
“Wow, we get to stay in a villa tonight? The last villa was pretty awesome,” Yolanda Fang said excitedly, grabbing Lynn Chen’s arm. “We can totally chill in the hot springs tonight!”
“Yeah.” Lynn nodded.
But all the people nearby instantly froze, their faces stiff.
“Henry! Are you out of your mind?” Kevin Shao finally snapped.
But Henry didn’t even glance at him. Instead, he pulled out another card from his pocket.
This card shimmered with a faint golden glow, looking both elegant and luxurious.
When Kevin saw Henry pull out that card, he was stunned for a moment—then his face twisted in rage.
