Because I Am Evan Lin

Who, that punk?

Hearing the voice coming from the receiver, everyone subconsciously looked over at Kevin Shao, who had just climbed out of the pool.

Kevin Shao glanced at Henry Zhang in front of him. Henry just shrugged at him, a schadenfreude smile on his face, then walked over and handed him the phone: "It's a call from Young Master Summer."

With just that one simple sentence, Henry Zhang sent Kevin Shao straight into an ice cave. Kevin froze for a second, then shivered unexpectedly, quickly taking the phone from Henry's hand, his heart pounding in his throat.

"Hello?"

Kevin Shao called out cautiously.

"Kevin Shao, impressive, huh? Getting bolder and bolder. Turning your phone off during work hours?" Summer Mu's tone was low, with a hint of anger seeping through.

"No, no, that's not it! I just fell in the pool, my phone got wet!" Kevin Shao hurriedly explained, his face turning pale and cold sweat breaking out on his forehead.

Right now, every business in the White Dragon Mountain Resort Hotel belonged to Summer Mu. Even though Kevin Shao currently had full operational control and considerable power, no matter how big his authority, it could never surpass Summer Mu!

"Fell in the pool? Then why'd you bother climbing out? Villas No. 1 and No. 2 were reserved by me through Henry Zhang. If you have a problem, bring it to me—say it to my face! So what are you trying to do now? Just because you've managed White Dragon Mountain Resort Hotel for a few days, you think you've forgotten your place?" Summer Mu's voice wasn't loud, but with every word his tone grew colder, and Kevin Shao's face turned even paler.

He couldn't help but tremble slightly, feeling for the first time the chill in Summer Mu's words. "I didn't know this was your arrangement. I'm sorry!"

"Sorry isn't good enough! That Brother Lin is my friend. The villas, the banquet, all of it was arranged by me. If you don't like my arrangements, fine—go find finance, get your pay, and pack your things. Get out!"

As soon as Summer Mu finished speaking, Kevin Shao—who had just climbed out of the pool—felt his legs go weak and collapsed onto the ground. He only snapped out of it when the dial tone buzzed in his ear.

"Kevin?" Derek Zhang looked at Kevin Shao on the other side, and seeing his lost, broken expression, felt a sense of foreboding rise in his heart.

"I've been fired." Kevin Shao looked up at Derek Zhang, muttering to himself, still not quite believing it.

"What did you say?" Derek Zhang was stunned. Henry Zhang had already sighed, walked forward, and took the phone from Derek's hand, glancing at him with a hint of pity.

"Fired?"

"Just one phone call and you're fired?"

The crowd erupted in shock.

Just as they were about to look over at Evan Lin standing nearby, Derek Zhang's phone suddenly rang.

Derek Zhang pulled out his phone and glanced at the caller ID. Instantly, his face went pale.

"Derek, what's wrong? Who's calling? Don't scare me!" Sharon Xiao, standing beside Derek Zhang, felt him shudder and sensed something was very wrong.

As soon as Sharon spoke, Neil Kong and the others all turned to look at Derek Zhang.

"It's... it's Chairman Summer..." Derek Zhang's voice was strained.

"Sawyer Summer?"

"The real richest man in River City!"

"That's Derek Zhang's boss, isn't it?"

Everyone was stunned by Derek Zhang's words.

Any other time, if Sawyer Summer called Derek Zhang, it would have been something for Derek to brag about.

But right now...

Derek Zhang, his emotions in turmoil, shakily answered the phone: "Hello... Chairman Summer..."

"Derek Zhang, come back when you have time and take care of your exit paperwork."

On the other end, Sawyer Summer's voice revealed no emotion—calm, quiet, almost scholarly, as if discussing something utterly ordinary.

But before Derek Zhang could protest, the call ended—leaving only the dial tone.

Beeeeep...

Each tone sounded like it was hammering into Derek Zhang's heart, making his teeth chatter and leaving him hollow inside.

"Derek, what did Chairman Summer say?" Sharon Xiao saw Derek Zhang's pale, dazed face and panicked.

"I was... I was fired too."

Derek Zhang's eyes reddened, his voice hoarse.

Fired too!

Derek Zhang was the general manager of a subsidiary under the Summer Group—a top executive—yet he was fired with a single phone call?

That sentence seemed to drain all the strength from Derek Zhang. His face was ashen as he turned to look at Evan Lin, who stood nearby with a calm expression, but couldn't say a word.

Evan Lin stood there, holding his antique Nokia phone, which now seemed glaringly conspicuous.

Everyone stared at the young man standing there.

Kevin Shao was pale, Derek Zhang was in shock, Neil Kong was stunned, and Sharon Chen's eyes were full of disbelief.

Stella Cui still hadn't recovered from what Derek Zhang and Kevin Shao had just said. To outsiders, just moments ago Evan Lin looked like a braggart, clueless and weak. Now, suddenly, he seemed mysterious.

With just one phone call, he made someone get lost. With another, he made someone else get lost. Both were top executives—one in charge of White Dragon Mountain Resort, the other the general manager of a Summer Group subsidiary!

Such power was terrifying!

Most shocking of all, it was Sawyer Summer and Summer Mu themselves who made the calls!

"Oh my god, who would've thought he was so close to that Summer guy?" Yolanda Fang muttered, still shocked despite having braced herself. When Evan Lin's call even alarmed Sawyer Summer, she couldn't help but feel a mix of awe and a little pride.

Lynn Chen looked complicated, her gaze fixed on Evan Lin. Her clear eyes couldn't see through him anymore. Just a few months ago, he was an ordinary boy—how had he suddenly become someone who shook the world?

Yolanda Wang, who had just been looking down on Evan Lin, shuddered and quickly shut her mouth, terrified that one phone call from him could get her father, Lawrence Wang, fired from the school too.

Ryan Chen's eyes grew darker. He realized that the shock this boy brought was something he could never match.

Ivy Zhang, after hearing Derek Zhang's words and seeing the pale faces of Derek and Sharon Xiao, thought about her father losing his job—the proud general manager of a company, gone for good. Tears welled up in her eyes as she screamed at Evan Lin: "What gives you the right to do this to my dad!"

Ivy Zhang's voice was loud and hoarse. Evan Lin turned his head slightly, his gaze calm and unwavering.

"You want to know what gives me the right?"

"Because I am who I am. Because I am Evan Lin."

"Because whatever I want to do, I can do."
