A bunch of items appeared on the ground, but Evan Chu didn’t even spare them a glance. His only interest was in whatever dropped from the Jungle Wolf King. If even the Wolf King didn’t have a Token or the Floor-Gate Key, then how was he supposed to know which Jungle Wolves would drop them?
Evan Chu slowly approached the Jungle Wolf King, wary of its strength. He kept the Frostbane Sword in hand, ready to unleash Soul Rend at any moment. But just as he closed to within five meters, the Wolf King suddenly moved.
The Jungle Wolf King lunged at Evan Chu, its long fangs flashing with a cold, eerie light, as if it could tear him apart in an instant—completely different from before. Evan Chu darted sideways, not daring to face it head-on; against this Wolf King, he had no absolute confidence.
Seeing Evan Chu dodge to the side, the Jungle Wolf King suddenly spoke. "Human, you’re impressive. You actually managed to slaughter so many of my children. You’re the first in tens of thousands of years to do this. If you can kill me too, you’ll earn the key to open the fourth floor—and I also carry the Token you need. Show me your true strength! Let me witness it with my own eyes."
Evan Chu was stunned. He hadn’t expected the Jungle Wolf King to speak, and it sounded like it had been waiting here for ages. But one thing made him genuinely happy—if he killed the Wolf King, he’d get the key and wouldn’t have to worry anymore. Maybe the Token he needed would drop too.
"You’ve been here for tens of thousands of years? How many people have entered this place, and where did they all go?" Evan Chu didn’t attack right away, but questioned the Wolf King instead.
"Most who enter here are killed. The fact that you made it this far proves your strength. I hope you can fulfill my master’s wish—then I’ll finally be free. After tens of thousands of years in this dull place, I’ve had enough. Human, don’t disappoint me." The Jungle Wolf King replied.
"If you want to die so badly, that’s easy—just stand there and let me finish you off! No wonder you didn’t care when all those Jungle Wolves were slaughtered; you’ve been looking to die all along! Surely you won’t refuse such a simple deal?" Evan Chu laughed.
"Human, you’re far too insidious. Without enough strength, you’d never be able to help my master. So you must fight me at full power. Let’s begin! Today is already the day I’ve spoken the most in tens of thousands of years." said the Jungle Wolf King.
Gritting his teeth, Evan Chu charged at the Jungle Wolf King, the Frostbane Sword sweeping out a brilliant arc of green light as he unleashed Soul Rend in an instant. Against this Wolf King, he couldn’t afford to hold back. The Wolf King radiated the aura of a Venerable Martial Realm expert, while Evan himself was stuck at Divine Martial Realm under suppression—this was basically a hopeless cross-realm challenge.
The cross-realm challenge was simply too much—even with his monstrous talent, Evan Chu knew he couldn’t possibly win head-on. All he hoped for was to seriously injure the Jungle Wolf King. As Evan charged, the Wolf King’s deep crimson eyes flashed with killing intent. It looked down on Evan, showing not a trace of fear. Suddenly, it spat out a blade of cyan wind.
In an instant, the cyan light struck the Wolf King, while the wind blade landed squarely on Evan Chu. It wasn’t that Evan didn’t want to dodge—the Wolf King’s wind blade was simply too fast. It only spat it out when Evan was right beside it, catching him completely off guard.
Bang! The wind blade slammed into Evan Chu, and Soul Rend tore into the Wolf King. Evan was blasted dozens of meters away, a deep, bone-revealing wound splitting open on his body as pale golden blood slowly seeped out.
But the blow wasn’t fatal. Evan quickly crawled up, channeling wood element energy to heal himself. Meanwhile, the Jungle Wolf King let out a soul-wrenching, agonized howl, its massive body rolling across the ground in torment.
“Now you know what I’m made of! Hurts, doesn’t it? Here, let me give you something even bigger!” Evan shouted. He could tell the Wolf King would struggle for a while yet, so he took the chance to gather lightning. One good strike should finish it off—or at least leave it crippled.
Lightning element frantically gathered around him. The Wolf King, its soul torn apart, tried to rise, but Evan wasn’t about to let that happen. A crimson bolt of lightning crashed down on the Wolf King’s head, smashing it deep into the earth and fracturing the ground.
The Wolf King was driven deep into the ground by Evan Chu’s attack, howling in pain. Judging by its cries, Evan figured it would take a few more hits to finish the job. He split his focus—gathering more lightning element from the tower’s space, while unleashing Thundershift to keep attacking.
Thundershift wasn’t as strong under suppression, but every strike left a fresh wound. Before long, the Wolf King died beneath Evan’s relentless lightning. Evan hadn’t expected it to be so easy, and by now his own injuries were almost fully healed.
“Linfeng, the Wolf King wanted to die. It already knew you were strong enough to reach the next floor, so it only bothered to use a single wind blade. Do you really think it would have gone so easy on you otherwise? Jungle Wolves are notorious beasts—even in the Immortal Realm, they’re a nightmare to deal with. The ones there are way stronger than here.” Luna immediately poured cold water on Evan Chu’s excitement.
After the Jungle Wolf King died, its body floated into the air, flaring with dazzling light. The entire space shifted, turning misty and indistinct—just like when the first and second floors were cleared. This time, though, Evan Chu found two new items in his hand: a wooden Immortal Token and a pitch-black Floor-Gate Key.
Soon, the Wolf King’s body vanished. Right beneath where it had stood, a stone gate appeared. Evan Chu recognized it as the tower gate—he hadn’t expected to clear the floor so easily. He immediately sent a message to summon Jade Chu and Tom Chu back.
About half an incense stick later, Jade Chu and Tom Chu returned. Seeing the Floor-Gate Key in Evan’s hand, Tom exclaimed, “Big bro, you’re amazing! You actually got the key! Me and Jade killed thousands of Jungle Wolves and didn’t get squat. How’d you do it? How many did you kill?”
Evan Chu was stunned—these two had killed that many Jungle Wolves? That was terrifying. But he couldn’t admit defeat in front of them; that would be way too humiliating. So he boasted, “I didn’t kill that many, but beating you guys was a piece of cake. If I told you the real number, you’d be crushed. Just getting the key proves it.”
“Big bro, is that stone gate the entrance to the fourth floor? Let’s go check it out! Maybe we’ll need another key to get to the next floor. This time, me and Jade will definitely get it before you!” Jade Chu said, full of confidence.
