Immortal Token and the Wolf King

"What is this thing? It's not a key at all! I really don't get why the Ice and Snow Immortal would make a token like this!" Evan Chu stared at the Immortal Token in his hand, muttering.

It was a medallion forged from pure gold, inscribed with characters Evan couldn’t read. Frustrated, he tossed it into his storage ring.

"That token is actually a good thing. If you can collect all five Immortal Tokens, the Ice and Snow Immortal will appear. Don’t underestimate it—these tokens are worth more than the Floor-Gate Key." Luna, the Sword Spirit, chimed in.

"Five Immortal Tokens? What’s that about? And how do you know just by looking at the writing?" Evan was puzzled—the script on the token was what Luna called Immortal Seal Script, and by rights, nobody here should recognize it. Even if someone got a token, they wouldn’t know how to use it.

If the Ice and Snow Immortal made these tokens and someone just treated them as junk, wouldn’t that be a waste? Besides, Evan had no idea where the five tokens would even show up. Meeting this legendary figure from Luna’s era was clearly not going to be easy.

"Serena Frost did this on purpose—the Immortal Tokens are only recognizable to people from the Immortal Realm. There’s not much info on them, and I can only figure out a little about her situation. Turns out she’s even worse off than I am: her soul is split in half, and without soul-nourishing medicines, she might really disappear forever.

The Immortal Tokens are scattered on the third and fourth floors—two on the third, three on the fourth. You have to find them. Serena Frost is my good sister, and I can’t just watch her fade away. Evan, I’m counting on you for this." Luna said earnestly.

Evan instantly felt the pressure. Sure, the Immortal Tokens dropped from Jungle Wolves—but this third-floor world was massive, and the wolves were everywhere. Actually getting the tokens was going to be insanely hard.

Still, Luna’s word was law. "I’ll do my best. Whether or not I get the tokens is up to luck. But I still don’t get it—why do you need the tokens for her to appear? Can’t she just show up now?"

"Once all five Immortal Tokens are together, they’ll unleash a powerful energy. Serena Frost is trapped in a special energy field, keeping her soul from falling apart—she can’t come out on her own. Only these tokens can break the barrier. Now do you get it?" Luna explained.

Evan Chu stopped talking. Now, with the added mission of rescuing the Ice and Snow Immortal Serena Frost, his headache only grew worse. But things had reached this point—he could only grit his teeth and do his best. After glancing ahead, his figure flashed, leaving behind a blur as he sped off into the distance.

Evan kept using lightning-element attacks against the Jungle Wolves. Five days later, he stopped in the middle of a vast grassland. During these five days, he’d gained quite a haul: martial manuals, weapons, and pills. But what he really needed—the token or the key—was nowhere to be found.

The days of constant spiritual exertion had left his mind groggy. So he lay down on the grass for a quick nap. Oddly enough, if he hadn’t slept, nothing would’ve happened—but as soon as he woke, Evan nearly jumped out of his skin. Of course, it was Luna who woke him; whenever danger appeared, she always called out to him.

Right now, Evan felt as if he’d wandered straight into the wolves’ nest. Suddenly, he was surrounded by hundreds of Jungle Wolves. It was maddening—Jungle Wolves should be in the forest, right? But here he was on endless grassland, yet hundreds of Jungle Wolves appeared, including a massive beast over three meters tall.

Seeing that giant, Evan immediately realized it was likely the Jungle Wolf King. If he could slay it, maybe the key or another token would drop. But with so many Jungle Wolves, taking them all down seemed impossible—especially since he couldn’t unleash the full power of Star-Cleave.

Lightning could kill them, but it was slow and not very effective—at most, he could take out a dozen or so at a time. If he got surrounded and they attacked together, his only option would be to use Earthshift and escape underground.

“Damn it, if you’re not gonna show up, just don’t! But when you do, there’s so many of you—what, you think you can bully me just because I can’t fly?” Evan muttered, thoroughly annoyed.

“Linfeng, try using fire element. Fire is great for wide-area attacks. Find a hidden spot, bury yourself in the soil, and gather fire-element particles from the tower’s space. I believe you can wipe out these Jungle Wolves.” Luna advised.

Evan felt Luna really was his lucky star—always there to help him through trouble, always protecting him in danger. If she ever left him, he honestly didn’t know what he’d do. He didn’t dare dwell on that thought; just thinking about it made him restless and uneasy.

Scanning his surroundings, Evan spotted a small dirt mound not far away—barely half a meter high. There were almost no Jungle Wolves nearby, so he quickly used Earthshift to hide himself in the soil and slowly tunneled toward the mound.

He poked his head out from the mound and began communicating with the fire elements in the space. Very quickly, he achieved resonance, and before long, the fire element had gathered successfully.

To wipe out these Jungle Wolves, he had to get them to bunch up. Although Evan was inside their encirclement, the wolves were still spread out. For a large-scale strike, he needed them closer together. So he dove back into the soil, tunneled to the center, and unleashed several Windshift attacks—wind blades slashed at the nearest Jungle Wolves.

With his power suppressed, the wind blades couldn’t kill the Jungle Wolves, but they could wound them. Soon, Evan had provoked the pack’s fury, and many wolves charged at him. Earlier, the Wolf King’s presence kept them in check, but now, seeing a puny human daring to attack, they surged forward in a frenzy—he was courting death.

Evan immediately retreated to the dirt mound. With a thought, a massive blaze erupted on the grassland, instantly engulfing dozens of Jungle Wolves. Their miserable screams echoed from the flames—a truly harrowing sight.

After a few breaths, the wolves in the fire were silent. Evan knew they’d been burned to ash. The flames weren’t as hot as earth-fire, but they were far stronger than ordinary spirit flames—plenty to deal with these Jungle Wolves.

Following this method, Evan lured and burned the wolves, spending half a day to wipe them out completely. Only one wolf remained—the Wolf King. No matter how Evan provoked it, the Wolf King stayed motionless, unaffected even by the deaths of its own kind.

“Heh, little Wolf King, now it’s finally time for me to deal with you!” Evan said with a grin.
