Another Merit

Although Ian Song and Leo Li landed lightly, they were still noticed by the white man swimming nearby.

Leo, that's the culprit! Ian said in a low voice.

Are you sure? Leo still sounded a bit doubtful.

At this point, do we have any way out? Ian smiled.

Leo was stunned for a moment, then relaxed. "True, whether he's the culprit or not, we have to bring him in for questioning."

Since they had already been spotted, the two walked openly toward the edge of the pool.

The white man showed no sign of panic, finished two more laps, then came ashore and walked over to Ian and Leo.

He was over 1.9 meters tall, muscles bulging all over, radiating explosive strength—a truly imposing figure.

Officers, isn't it a bit rude to come in uninvited?

The white man stopped two meters away, looking at Ian and Leo with a provocative gaze.

Leo's heart sank. After years in SWAT, he'd seen all kinds of criminals, but this white man was different—his attitude was calm, totally unconcerned about being confronted, otherwise he wouldn't have taken two more laps before coming ashore.

And his words were openly provocative, showing he felt he had nothing to fear.

In short—this won't be easy.

For a moment, he regretted barging in so rashly.

But now there was no turning back. He looked at the white man and said, "Sir, the police suspect you are connected to an intentional assault case. Please come with us."

The white man sneered, "Officer, do you have direct evidence linking me to that incident?"

Not at the moment," Leo admitted, frustrated.

Then do you have an arrest warrant or a search warrant?" the white man pressed, his tone now openly mocking.

No," Leo said, growing even more frustrated.

No warrant, no evidence, and you dare trespass in my house!' The white man swept Ian and Leo with a contemptuous look, then slowly pointed at the door. 'You have thirty seconds to get out of here!'

...You...!

Hearing that, Leo's face flushed bright red.

Jason's voice rang out, full of arrogance: "Even the police can't barge into someone's home without authorization. Officers, don't waste your time—get out, or I'll throw you out myself!"

Who says we don't have evidence?

Ian suddenly spoke up.

Oh? What evidence do you have?" Jason asked, utterly fearless.

Ian glanced at the nearby trash can and smiled. "You're strong, but fighting dozens of people, there's no way you came out spotless. If I'm right, your clothes must be covered in blood, aren't they?"

Instantly, Jason's face changed, a hint of panic flickering across it.

Leo was overjoyed.

Ian continued, "But I bet you shredded the clothes you were wearing, right? Too bad you haven't disposed of them yet. As long as we compare those scraps to the victims' blood..."

As he spoke, Ian's smile grew wider, while Jason's face grew uglier by the second.

Suddenly, a murderous glint flashed in Jason's eyes. He sprang forward, a fierce wind trailing him, and slammed his palm toward Leo's head.

Realizing he'd been exposed, Jason was out for blood. He attacked with everything he had.

Caught in Jason's assault, Leo felt a suffocating pressure—no time to draw his gun, he could only swing his fist upward with all his strength.

Bang!

Crack!

Leo was only a fifth-level Warrior, nowhere near Jason's strength—especially with Jason catching him off guard.

So, as soon as they clashed, Leo took the brunt of it—both his arm bones shattered.

With one punch, Jason broke both of Leo's arms. His viciousness only grew, and he grinned savagely as he threw another punch at Leo's face. If that massive fist landed, Leo's head would probably be smashed to pieces.

Watch out—gun!

Just then, a sharp shout rang out.

It was Ian who fired his gun.

He drew and fired in one smooth motion—a red laser shot straight at Jason's face.

Jason wasn't just strong—his reflexes were lightning-fast, too.

He jerked his head aside and dodged the laser.

Zap! Zap!

But two more laser beams followed, hitting him right in the knees. Jason screamed, collapsed, and two thumb-sized charred holes appeared in his knees.

Leo, you okay?

Ian rushed over to support Leo.

With both arms broken, Leo's face was deathly pale.

Bastard, I'll kill you!

With a roar, Leo tried to rush at Jason, but Ian held him back and advised:

Leo, don't lose your cool! With charges for maiming dozens and attacking a SWAT officer, he'll get what's coming to him. No need to stoop to his level!

Ian's words made sense—no need to make a mistake over this guy.

Soon, SWAT reinforcements arrived.

Leading them was Seventh Squad captain Max Lin.

Twenty minutes later, at the SWAT base.

The interrogation was over—Jason confessed to everything. Of course, the main reason he gave in so fast was that forensic tests matched blood from his shredded clothes to Shane Shen, Gavin Jiang, and the others—he had no room to argue.

Less than half an hour after the incident, the suspect was caught, interrogated, and the case was solved.

Ryan Zhou, newly promoted to battalion captain, was thrilled. He and deputy captain Leon Liu came together to heap praise on Ian and Leo.

Watching Ian get praised, Max Lin felt bitter inside.

He'd meant to make things hard for that kid, but ended up helping him earn merit instead.

Catching the suspect so quickly was almost unheard of.

So, the very next day, the rewards came down.

Ian and Leo each received a C-Class merit and a cash bonus of 100,000 Credits.

In both the army and SWAT, merit is key for promotion. For Leo, with this C-Class merit, another year or two and he could be squad captain.

Back to the case—Jason was a security enforcer for the Red Sun Nightclub.

Even though he took full responsibility for injuring Shane Shen, Gavin Jiang, and the others, anyone could see that Jason had been ordered by Red Sun's higher-ups to target them after last night's incident.

But Red Sun's connections in Plumridge City are strong—even Harvey Zhang doesn't want to mess with them. So, the order was to close the case quickly.

Still, after maiming so many and attacking SWAT, Jason's fate was sealed—he was sent off to a mining planet for twenty years.

On the third floor of Red Sun Nightclub, in a private room...

Sakura Ito, dressed in a kimono, was trimming flowers. A tall white man said bitterly, "Miss Sakura, I've found out—the reason Jason got caught was mostly because of a rookie SWAT officer, Landon Lu!"
