She kept walking.
She didn't stop.
Sunny Sun watched as Rachel Liu walked toward him, his mind racing.
"Ah, Rachel!"
Sunny made up his mind. Suddenly, he put on a warm smile and, just as Rachel was about to pass by, stepped forward and casually reached out, trying to put an arm around her shoulder as if it was nothing: "Let me introduce you to a friend I just met."
"What was his name again?"
Sunny stepped forward, planning to strike first and claim his ground.
It looked like Rachel really knew this guy, and maybe they even had some history together.
Sunny wanted to make the first move, planning to declare his claim over Rachel—at least to make this thin-looking guy back off.
"Move aside."
Rachel didn't even look at Sunny, her coldness obvious in her words.
The moment she spoke, Sunny froze—his expression completely locked in place.
He had never been scolded by Rachel like this before.
Before now, Rachel was at most a little distant, but she always answered questions and treated people gently.
But right now, Rachel actively pulled away from Sunny, making him feel awkward and exposed.
"I have nothing to do with him."
Rachel walked past Sunny and stood in front of Evan Lin, her voice firm: "We're just classmates."
Just classmates.
Those words came out with a hint of urgency in Rachel's tone.
It was as if she couldn't wait to explain herself to the boy in front of her.
Her attitude instantly left Sunny feeling a mix of emotions.
He was angry, embarrassed, frustrated, and awkward—but none of it mattered.
"Rachel Liu is actually rushing to explain her relationship with another guy?" someone nearby said, full of surprise.
"Did I hear that right? Isn't there a whole crowd chasing Rachel Liu? This guy looks decent, but he's not drop-dead handsome. Why does it seem like Rachel sees him differently?" another person wondered, puzzled.
The students waiting at the school gate hurried over as Rachel walked toward them.
Everyone was stunned when they heard Rachel's words.
All eyes turned toward the boy standing over there, each gaze different.
Most were curious, some were sizing him up, and others were just confused.
Nobody understood why Rachel felt the need to explain her relationship with Sunny to this boy. Meanwhile, Sunny's face looked terrible.
"As for Nathan Li, I have nothing to do with him either."
Rachel stared straight at Evan: "Back then, Nathan Li came to Oceanport University for me because of our parents."
"We ate together because both our parents wanted it. Honestly, I just wanted to make things clear with him."
Rachel spoke again.
She didn't care at all about the people watching around her.
Her words stunned the already shocked crowd even further.
Nathan Li!
Coming from Rachel, that name carried way more weight than Sunny's ever could!
"Rachel Liu is actually explaining her relationship with Nathan Li to this guy!"
There were rumors that Rachel and Nathan had cut ties, but she had never mentioned anything about him—until now.
A guy who paid close attention to Rachel was stunned: "I never thought she'd bring it up herself!"
"Who is this guy, anyway?"
"Could Rachel Liu have rejected Nathan Li because of him?"
As soon as those words were spoken, everyone who was confused suddenly got it.
The crowd erupted.
Countless eyes locked onto him, and the chatter exploded.
"She rejected Nathan Li for him?"
Sunny gritted his teeth and turned to glare at the boy standing nearby.
He'd thought this guy was just a weak nobody, but who knew he had such deep ties to Rachel Liu?
Why him?
Now, with Rachel looking like she desperately wanted to clear up any misunderstandings, she was practically lowering herself.
But the boy in front of her showed no reaction at all.
It was as if he hadn't even heard Rachel's words, and his mood didn't change one bit.
"All that stuff you said doesn't really have anything to do with me."
Evan looked at Rachel and spoke slowly.
As soon as he said that, everyone saw Rachel's face turn a little pale.
Her expression changed only slightly, but people still noticed.
It looked like Evan's words had hurt Rachel, but she was fighting hard to keep her emotions in check and not let it show.
But the more she tried to hide her disappointment, the more obvious it became.
"I'm just telling you, that's all."
Rachel took a deep breath, calmed herself, and her face returned to its usual coldness.
Her pride as a beautiful girl was battling with the disappointment inside her.
"Okay, so you're done talking."
Evan nodded: "I don't care about your affairs. You don't need to tell me anything in the future."
"Also, you can relax. I have no ill will toward your Liu family."
"As long as your family doesn't mess with me, I won't do anything to them."
"As for what happened to Nathan Li's family, just treat it like it never happened."
Evan's casual words made Rachel purse her lips.
The Liu family's days hadn't been easy. After Sawyer Summer found out what the Lius had done, he pressured them, and with Wayne Wang joining in, their business got harder and harder.
Still, they managed to survive with a bit of dignity. Their opponents hadn't wiped them out completely—otherwise, Rachel wouldn't be the campus goddess she was now.
"It's been a while since we last met. Why don't I treat you to dinner?"
Rachel steadied herself, then looked at Evan and spoke up.
Treating him to dinner!
Rachel Liu actually took the initiative to invite someone to dinner!
Sunny clenched his fists, while the people around him were stunned.
This was huge news!
"You punk, why you?"
Suddenly, Sunny spun around, his anger peaking, and shouted at Evan.
The goddess he'd dreamed about was so humble in front of this guy.
It only made him feel even smaller and more useless.
He stepped forward, ready to throw a punch.
Suddenly, he saw a figure running toward them from not far away, and he froze.
