He leaned in, wanting to take a closer look, but the little baby suddenly reached out to scratch him. Luckily, being just born, the baby's tiny hand was soft and weak—otherwise, Maxwell Jing's face would have been scratched!
Gu Yihan pulled him back and turned to Susie Yun, asking, "Is Princess Consort alright?"
Susie Yun frowned, stepped aside, and said, "Just go in and see for yourselves!"
Gu Yihan and Maxwell Jing exchanged glances—was something really wrong?
Damien Gray's companions were always a casual bunch, so they didn’t bother with formalities. The two walked straight into the room, only to see Damien Gray and Morgan Shangguan, their four eyes fixed intently on another baby lying on the bed!
Maxwell Jing walked to the bedside, frowned at the baby on the bed, and muttered, "Could it be..." Dead? He didn’t dare finish the sentence!
The baby on the bed looked just like the one in Susie Yun’s arms—delicate features, rosy and adorable, making people want to pinch him. But unlike the other, this one lay motionless with eyes closed.
Maxwell Jing reached out, wanting to touch that soft little cheek. But before his hand could make contact, the baby suddenly opened his eyes and stared straight at him.
Was it just his imagination, or did that gaze seem almost sharp and commanding?
Maxwell Jing was startled, met the baby's eyes, awkwardly withdrew his hand, and chuckled, "Go ahead, go ahead!" Wasn’t this just a newborn? Why was it so intimidating?
He couldn’t help glancing at Damien Gray, sighing inwardly—like father, like son!
Seeing Maxwell Jing behave, the baby closed his eyes again, seeming completely unfazed by the people around him.
Morgan Shangguan reached out and touched his little face, frowning, "Could he have autism?" The baby seemed unaffected by her touch, continuing to rest with his eyes closed.
Susie Yun cradled the baby in her arms, glanced at the one on the bed, and said with a cheerful smile, "Miss, don’t worry! The little prince looks clever; he’ll be just fine!"
Morgan Shangguan kept teasing the baby and replied lazily, "Who says I’m worried?" After all, she knew her own child best. If he had autism, she would have noticed long ago—he was just a bit cold by nature!
Suddenly remembering something, Morgan Shangguan turned to Damien Gray and said, "Prince Damien, our son will take your surname, and our daughter will take mine!" In the Shangguan family, only women could inherit the clan leader’s position—and once they did, regardless of their original surname, they had to change it to Shangguan.
She didn’t care much for tradition; she’d never truly valued the Shangguan family, and now she had little connection to them. Still, with two babies, it seemed fair—one for the Ghost Guild, one for the Cloud Guild.
Such a request was almost unheard of in a world ruled by men—some might even call it outrageous! But none of the people here were ordinary.
Morgan Shangguan’s request met no resistance from Damien Gray, and no one else found it strange either.
Morgan Shangguan handed her son to Damien Gray with a smile. "Then the baby is yours!"
Damien Gray caught the hidden meaning in her words and frowned, asking, "What do you mean?"
Morgan Shangguan smiled and said, "I want you to name the child!"
Damien Gray looked doubtful. "Is that all?"
"Of course not." After a pause, Morgan Shangguan took the baby from Susie Yun’s arms, her lips curling into a smile. "As the father, Prince Damien, you’re responsible for your son’s upbringing. He’s yours from now on!" She gently played with her daughter’s tiny hand, her eyes full of laughter. She had a feeling that handing their son over to Damien Gray would be quite interesting.
Damien Gray frowned deeply, glanced at the baby in his arms, then promptly handed him to Maxwell Jing, saying, "You and Gu Yihan take care of him!"
Maxwell Jing’s face fell. Whose child was this, really? Poor thing, neither parent seemed to want him!
Sympathizing, Maxwell Jing watched as the baby in his arms suddenly began to babble, reaching out to Morgan Shangguan with big, watery eyes, on the verge of tears. Morgan Shangguan handed her daughter to Susie Yun and took the boy into her arms, asking, "What’s wrong?" Given his personality, he shouldn’t be crying so easily.
Nestled comfortably in Morgan Shangguan’s embrace, the baby gave her a radiant smile without hesitation.
Maxwell Jing looked at that enchanting smile and couldn’t help but shake his head with a sigh. "Who knows how many hearts he’ll break when he grows up!"
Gu Yihan shot him a look and snorted, "You think everyone’s like you?" His tone held a hint of annoyance, clearly unimpressed by Maxwell Jing’s flirtatious ways.
Maxwell Jing grinned, nodding. "That’s true!" After all, Prince Damien hadn’t broken that many hearts—at least not in droves!
With everyone watching, the baby reached out his soft little hand, grabbed Morgan Shangguan’s finger, and began to chew on it, as if it were a tasty treat.
Damien Gray met the baby’s gaze, his expression darkening—this was a challenge! Definitely a challenge!
With a cold smile, Damien Gray snatched the baby from Morgan Shangguan’s arms, baring his teeth in a fierce grin. "I’ll make sure to take good care of him!"
The baby met his gaze, showing no fear at all.
Watching the two lock eyes, ready for a battle of wills, Morgan Shangguan shook her head with a laugh. Were they father and son, or rivals?
In the end, Morgan Shangguan named her daughter Roxy Shangguan. Damien Gray, fortunately, didn’t take revenge by giving his son a silly name—after all, he was his own child. How awkward would it be if people called his son by a ridiculous name?
So, with Morgan Shangguan’s approval, their son was named Ethan Gray.
Susie Yun adored both babies—they were simply too adorable! But since she was still pregnant herself, after playing with them for a while, Ouyang Lin insisted she return to her room and rest.
