Birth of the Twins

12/2/2025

She had long become an inseparable part of his life. Without her, his world would never be complete, and he could never grow accustomed to that loss.

So all he wanted was to cherish her with everything he had, so that she would never be able to leave him.

Morgan Shangguan looked into his helpless eyes, her heart warmed. How could she not understand? Only someone who truly cares would pay attention to every little thing, unwilling to see her unhappy for even a moment.

She reached out and wrapped her arms around his neck, gently brushing her lips against his. The kiss was light and fleeting. Ever since she became pregnant, she tried not to tease him—otherwise, Damien Gray would be living in a constant state of torment!

But even so, Damien Gray still wasn’t exactly living a ‘happy’ life!

After the brief kiss, just as Morgan Shangguan was about to pull away, Damien Gray held her fast, his hand cradling the back of her head. His kisses grew deeper and more urgent, yet still he was not satisfied.

“Mmm…” Morgan Shangguan suddenly pushed him away forcefully, her face pale.

Damien Gray’s heart tightened with worry. He asked anxiously, “What’s wrong?”

Morgan Shangguan shook her head, gripping his hand tightly, cold sweat beading on her forehead.

Seeing her discomfort worsen, Damien Gray decisively ordered Maxwell Jing to speed up. Then, he carefully gathered Morgan Shangguan into his arms to lessen the jolts, his own face growing grim.

Morgan Shangguan could feel the power she’d been suppressing surge up again, stronger and wilder than before. Her pregnancy hadn’t lasted long, but the baby had always been well-behaved, never recklessly using its strength. Even when it did, it was careful not to hurt her. But this time, the force was so intense that even she struggled to contain it—how could the baby possibly control it? Her greatest fear now was that her child would be harmed.

But after sensing that power for a while, Morgan hesitated and softly called out, "Damien..."

Damien Gray immediately asked, "What’s wrong?" He couldn’t recklessly use his inner power to help her suppress the chaotic energy—after all, inner power and spirit power were fundamentally different. And with two little ones in her belly now, he dared not take any risks!

He truly hated this feeling of helplessness!

Ever since meeting Morgan, he’d experienced so many emotions he’d never felt before—one after another.

Noticing Morgan’s strange expression, Damien tightened his embrace, worry etched on his face. But then he heard Morgan say uncertainly, "I think the baby’s coming!"

"What?" Damien stared at her belly in disbelief. She hadn’t been pregnant for long—was the baby really coming now? Had his warnings actually worked?

He watched closely, and soon noticed Morgan’s belly growing larger at a speed visible to the naked eye! Frowning, Damien gently brushed her hair from her forehead and asked softly, "Are you feeling any better?" If the baby was coming, so be it—the sooner, the better! As long as she was safe, nothing else mattered.

Morgan nodded. The wild energy was gradually calming down, but her belly was growing even faster. Watching herself swell, she couldn’t help but think: Thank goodness this child chose the right family. If a normal household faced something like this, even if the baby survived, they’d be cast out immediately—what a little monster!

As soon as they returned to the Ghost King's Manor, chaos erupted. Morgan’s pregnancy was anything but ordinary—no regular midwife could handle it. If someone fainted from fright, that would be a small matter; the real problem was, who would deliver the baby after that?

Luckily, Morgan kept plenty of ghosts around and had all sorts of talented individuals on hand. There just happened to be one who could deliver babies—since it was already a ghost, it wasn’t afraid of dying from fright again, and so it proudly accepted the task.

Damien, of course, stayed by Morgan’s side. Susie Yun was worried too—she insisted on keeping watch over Morgan. She couldn’t help but sigh: Miss Morgan truly was unlike ordinary people, even her childbirth was faster than normal. How long had it been?

Poor Susie still had months to go herself!

Maxwell Jing and Ethan Gu waited outside the room, ready to be summoned at any moment. But after a long time, there was no sound from inside. Maxwell Jing couldn’t help but look at Ethan Gu and ask, "Isn’t childbirth supposed to be earth-shattering? Why is it so quiet?"

Ethan Gu stared at the tightly closed door and replied coolly, "I’ve never given birth!" He knew Morgan was different from ordinary people, so he wasn’t curious about the timeline at all.

Maxwell Jing sidled up to him, slung an arm around his shoulder, and grinned mischievously, "Why don’t you try giving birth yourself?"

Ethan Gu glanced at him, then curled his lips into a half-smile. "I’ll do my best to help you develop that function!"

Hearing that, Maxwell Jing quickly jumped away to keep his distance. Don’t let Ethan Gu’s cold demeanor fool you—he could be wicked! Who knows, he might really invent some medicine to make him give birth!

For the sake of his own safety, it was best not to offend Ethan Gu. That was hard-earned experience!

They waited a while longer, but still no sign of movement. Maxwell Jing began to worry, "Could something be wrong? This really isn’t normal!"

But with Damien Gray present, surely nothing bad would happen.

After a moment’s thought, Ethan Gu said, "Go knock on the door!"

Maxwell Jing couldn’t help but roll his eyes—being bossed around was becoming a habit! Still, he went up and knocked on the door. Susie Yun answered, and to Maxwell’s shock, she was holding a pink, chubby baby. Maxwell Jing stared at the infant, dazed, and asked, "Susie, did you give birth that quickly?"

Ethan Gu promptly gave Maxwell Jing a knock on the head to snap him out of it.

Susie Yun’s face was radiant—not because of Maxwell Jing, but because of the baby in her arms.

The baby she held was utterly adorable, with a sweet smile, drool at the corners of its mouth, waving its tiny hands and occasionally patting Susie’s face or tugging her hair. So lively, with big, sparkling eyes full of mischief—definitely not like a newborn!

Maxwell Jing really wanted to ask how the child was born, but held back and asked instead, "This little one isn’t possessed by a ghost, is it?" It didn’t seem like a newborn at all.
