A Disgrace to House Drake's Honor
Leon Zane stared at her for a long time. "So you never intended to agree from the very beginning, did you?"
"My family is very important to me," Grace said. "Maybe you really won’t harm us, but handing my vital essence over to a Rune Master... Please forgive me, I can’t risk my family like that."
"So you’re just going to ignore Princess Maya Summers’ curse?" Bianca Whitefan asked.
"There’s always a way when you get to the mountain," Grace replied.
If it really didn’t work out, she’d just finish off that bastard Prince Cheng!
"Also, I already know your plan. I have the antidote to the poison worm, so just save your breath!"
Leon Zane and his sister both looked green in the face.
They had worked so hard to come up with such a clever idea!
Grace stood up, smiling sweetly. "Thanks for the hospitality! The spirit peach was delicious. Bye!"
Bianca Whitefan got anxious and grabbed her. "When I test the blood, you’ll be right beside me. I swear, I won’t take anyone’s vital essence, I promise!"
"Impossible. Miss Whitefan, you don’t need to waste your breath," Grace said. "Goodbye."
After saying that, she also bid farewell to Evan Xiao and left.
Leon Zane looked at Evan Xiao, both angry and anxious. "General, what do we do? That poison worm idea was so hard to come up with! Now it’s all going to fall apart!"
Evan Xiao watched Grace’s retreating figure and said nothing.
"Your Highness, why aren’t you saying anything?" Leon Zane asked, nearly losing it.
"It won’t help, no matter what I say."
"Isn’t she your woman?" Leon Zane shouted. "You can’t even get your own woman to listen! You—you’re a disgrace to House Drake’s pride!"
Evan Xiao shot him a look, and Leon Zane instantly stopped yelling. He bit his lip and said, "Sorry, Your Highness. I just got carried away."
"I’ll keep her busy for a few days. You two go handle things now!" Evan Xiao said, getting to his feet.
"Huh? Handle what?"
"Poison them."
"Poi—poison who exactly?"
"It has to be someone with real influence at the Zhu Estate. If it’s just an ordinary servant, they’ll probably be sent away as soon as they get sick," Evan Xiao said.
"Then just poison Grace Zhu directly!" Leon Zane blurted out.
Evan Xiao shot him a dangerous look.
Leon Zane instantly shut up and shrank back. "Whitefan, let’s go!"
...
Grace was heading back when Evan Xiao caught up to her on horseback.
He stopped the carriage and said to her, "Get out."
"What for?" Grace lifted the curtain and asked, "Are you trying to be their spokesperson now?"
"Get out."
Grace was always pretty accommodating with him, so she got out of the carriage as expected.
"Go back and tell the Prime Minister I’m taking your young lady out for a few days of fun. I promise to bring her back safe and sound," Evan Xiao said to Tenner, the carriage driver.
"Huh?" Tenner was dumbfounded.
But Evan Xiao had already scooped her up onto his horse and took off at full speed.
"Hey! Young lady, young lady!" Tenner yelled.
"What are you doing? Why are you suddenly taking me out to play? You’re definitely up to something! Let go of me! Let—" Grace was struggling when suddenly her neck went numb and she lost consciousness.
...
Grace woke up with a jolt, her instincts on high alert.
She snapped her eyes open and was suddenly face-to-face with a giant wolf’s head.
Its steel-hard gray skin and blood-red, savage eyes were glaring at her, jaws wide open to bite her throat. The sunlight gleamed off its razor-sharp teeth, and she could even see a chunk of bloody meat stuck between them!
Direwolf Titan!
Grace brought her hands together and struck at its eyes with lightning speed.
