She's Not Someone You Can Mess With

Several mid-level managers nearby exchanged glances but kept silent.

At their level, they already knew perfectly well what should and shouldn't be said.

The female manager from sales, riding high on recent successes and praise from the CEO, was already getting ahead of herself.

The company would teach her a lesson, reminding her what could and couldn't be said.

Cecilia Gu followed Alex up the stairs to the third floor.

"Has the CEO and the guest arrived?" Cecilia Gu double-checked with Alex. "Is there anything wrong with me right now?"

"Yes, they're already here," Alex replied respectfully. "If the client says anything out of line, please don't take it to heart, Young Madam."

Cecilia Gu's eyes flickered. Was this client really that difficult?

Before Cecilia Gu could knock, a coquettish voice rang out from inside the room: "President Yin, you truly deserve your reputation as the king of business who raised Yin Enterprises’ market value by twenty percent. Just one move and you’ve forced us down by five points. President Yin, don’t be like this! With profits squeezed so low, how is Odyssey Corporation supposed to survive?"

Cecilia Gu thought to herself, with a voice that sweet, she must be a real beauty.

Charles Yin really was blessed—no matter where he went, beautiful women seemed to throw themselves at him.

Cecilia Gu knocked lightly, and Charles Yin's voice came from inside: "Come in."

Taking a deep breath, Cecilia Gu pushed open the door and walked in.

Sure enough, she looked up and saw a stunning woman with a curvy figure and exquisite features, her wine-red wavy hair making her look just like a Barbie doll. The beauty was smiling sweetly at Charles Yin.

Glancing over, she noticed Charles Yin’s expression was perfectly calm, as if he wasn’t the least bit moved by the beauty before him.

For some reason, Cecilia Gu felt an inexplicable sense of relief.

[Omitted: Meta line not part of narrative.]

Whatever he did with other women, what did it have to do with her?

She’d only married him because of the contract, and for the child. Nothing more.

His emotional world was something she couldn’t—and didn’t want to—interfere with.

Charles Yin's long, narrow eyes lifted slightly, as if he'd noticed the sigh of relief Cecilia Gu let out. A fleeting trace of amusement flashed at the corner of his eyes.

The smile was subtle, gone in an instant.

"Mr. Yin." Cecilia Gu bowed her head slightly in greeting. "Sorry I'm late."

"And this is..." The glamorous woman looked genuinely shocked, unable to keep her composure at Cecilia Gu's unexpected arrival.

Is Charles Yin's reputation for avoiding women about to be shattered?

"This is my personal assistant, Cecilia Gu." Charles Yin introduced her with a faint smile. "Cecilia, this is Vice President Muir from Odyssey Corporation."

Cecilia Gu greeted her right away, "Hello, Vice President Muir. I'm Cecilia Gu. Please guide me."

Rona Muir just glanced at Cecilia Gu and ignored her, turning to Charles Yin instead. "Mr. Yin, what is the meaning of this? Weren't we supposed to have a private lunch today, nothing to do with business?"

"Vice President Muir, weren't you just discussing business with me?" Charles Yin's gaze shimmered as he glanced lightly at the petite woman beside him. "Now that my assistant is here, do you mind if she joins us for lunch?"

Rona Muir quickly looked up, her eyes scanning Cecilia Gu. "Of course. I'm just a guest here."

Assistant A immediately pulled out a chair for Cecilia Gu. Rona Muir's eyes flashed with surprise.

This woman really was different to Charles Yin.

Cecilia Gu felt so nervous her hands and feet were sweating.

The battle between two CEOs—there was no way she could handle it.

Cecilia Gu wanted to get up and leave the table more than once.

But every time the thought crossed her mind, she'd catch Charles Yin's barely-there gaze sweeping her way.

That gaze, so commanding and undeniable, made Cecilia Gu abandon the idea every single time.

Rona Muir's eyes kept darting between Cecilia Gu and Charles Yin. With her experience, she could tell this woman was no ordinary person.

Charles Yin's assistants had always been men. This was the first time he'd brought a woman along—and treated her so differently. How could she be just an assistant?

But there was no news about Charles Yin getting married. Was this woman his lover?
