After Cecilia Gu finished her milk, she immediately felt nauseous. Unable to hold it back, she covered her mouth and rushed into the bathroom.
Alex was about to stop Cecilia—after all, that bathroom was reserved for the CEO! No one else was allowed to use it! Once, a clueless client accidentally used it, and the CEO threw him out of the house and blacklisted him.
But before Alex could say anything, he saw that Charles Yin didn’t seem to notice Cecilia rushing into the bathroom at all, so he quickly shut his mouth. Charles, in a good mood, told Alex, "Give instructions: bring her something to eat every hour. Since she doesn’t like milk imported for the British royal family, switch to milk imported for the Japanese imperial family."
Alex’s eyes nearly popped out of his head.
When Cecilia got up from the floor, she realized the toilet she’d been vomiting into was actually made of pure crystal.
After flushing, Cecilia went to wash her hands. She turned on the faucet and discovered the sink was also polished pure crystal.
Seriously... this is so extravagant.
After rinsing her mouth, she pulled out a tissue to wipe the water off her hands and returned to the office.
As soon as she sat down, she saw a steaming cup of milk waiting on her desk.
The last time she had bird’s nest, she threw up but still had to keep eating.
Looks like this milk won’t be an exception either.
Cecilia didn’t fuss at all—she picked up the cup and drank.
As soon as the milk touched her lips, Cecilia was stunned. This tasted different from before.
This time, after drinking the milk, Cecilia didn’t feel nauseous. She let out a sigh of relief.
When Charles finished his call and turned around, he saw Cecilia had obediently finished her milk and wasn’t feeling sick. A look of satisfaction flashed in his eyes.
This woman is sensible. Good.
Charles walked over to Cecilia and said, "You did well on your performance review. Looks like you’re not just a pretty face."
After saying that, Charles gave a self-deprecating laugh. "Not like I have the looks to be a pretty face anyway."
Cecilia felt a bit awkward. She knew she was plain-looking, had no money, and didn’t dress up like her other colleagues every day.
But even if it’s true, did he really have to mock me about it?
Whatever, it doesn’t matter.
She was never someone who relied on her looks anyway. Besides, he’s the CEO and she’s just an employee—whatever the boss says, she’ll just accept it. No point getting upset over this.
Thinking this, Cecilia nodded and admitted, "No prestigious degree, no overseas experience. If I don’t work harder, how could I survive in such a big company?"
Charles looked at Cecilia in surprise. "So you can do other things too?"
"It’s alright. I’ve done most of the basic stuff," Cecilia replied with a smile. "Of course, I haven’t handled anything at the decision-making level."
Charles pointed to the other forms on the desk and couldn’t help but ask, "You know how to do all these?"
"The Operations Department serves all the company’s departments, so I’ve done all their forms before," Cecilia answered calmly.
Charles was genuinely impressed this time.
Just then, Alex came in from outside and whispered something in Charles’s ear.
Charles nodded after hearing this and said, "Got it. Go make the arrangements—the client will dine at the company restaurant today."
Seeing that Charles had other matters to attend to, Cecilia automatically prepared to leave.
Before Cecilia could leave, Charles called out, "You come along too."
Cecilia was stunned, and Alex was surprised too. He quickly recovered and said to Cecilia, "The guest for today’s lunch is the Vice President of Odyssey Corporation, one of Yin Enterprises’ partners. Team Leader, if you have any dietary restrictions, please let me know."
Alex really was Charles’s most capable assistant. With just one decision from Charles, Alex instantly figured out what to do next and how to handle it.
Cecilia felt a bit awkward. She’d always been one of the lowest-ranked employees—she really wasn’t prepared for such a high-level lunch!
She could handle complicated forms and documents, but she couldn’t handle such a complicated lunch meeting.
Charles seemed to notice Cecilia’s discomfort, but he had no intention of changing his mind.
As the CEO’s wife, some things are inevitable.
If she didn’t toughen up now, how would she handle things when the chairman and his wife from the Korean company visited China?
Cecilia understood this too—her future would be completely different from her past.
The familiar things would get farther away, and unfamiliar things would keep piling up.
Charles had always been a man of action. He wouldn’t give her much time to adapt or learn; she’d just have to grit her teeth and push through.
No matter how hard it was, she had to get used to her new position as quickly as possible.
She remembered when she first joined the company, her coworkers made things difficult for her, but she still toughed it out.
Now it was just a different position. If she had to, she’d start over from scratch!
Thinking this, Cecilia took a deep breath and told Charles, "I won’t let you down!"
Then she turned to Alex and said, "I’m in the early stages of pregnancy. The doctor said I can’t eat anything too spicy or fishy—other than that, I’m fine."
Alex immediately took note and went off to give instructions.
Charles made a mental note of this and said, "Alright, I’m heading out for now. The meeting is set for noon at Serenity Pavilion, third floor of the company restaurant. Don’t be late."
After saying this, Charles turned and left the CEO’s office with the other assistants.
Watching Charles’s departing figure, Cecilia finally slumped into her chair and let out a long sigh.
With someone as intimidating as Charles Yin, it was impossible not to be nervous.

But the real challenge was still ahead—she didn’t have time to waste.
Cecilia quickly opened her computer and started cramming dining etiquette.
All she could do now was cram at the last minute.
Luckily, today’s meal was Chinese cuisine—not as complicated as Western etiquette. She should be able to handle it.
Alex really was Charles’s most reliable assistant—he quickly sent Cecilia the lunch menu so she could prepare in advance.
Cecilia quickly looked up the rules for eating these dishes. Once she felt ready, she checked the time, then left the office and headed for the company restaurant.
Yin Enterprises has its own private restaurant.
It’s divided into three floors, with dining areas based on status.
The bottom floor is for regular employees, while the second floor is for middle management.
The top floor is reserved for Charles Yin and a few major shareholders.
Each floor has its own chefs and rules, and people aren’t allowed to wander between floors.
Cecilia hurried toward the restaurant. As soon as she appeared, the entire place fell silent—every eye turned to her.
There was envy, jealousy, contempt, and disdain.
All those stares made Cecilia feel like she was sitting on pins and needles—extremely uncomfortable.
Cecilia knew that going from a lowly Operations Department employee to the company’s highest-ranking staff member, everyone would be unconvinced. Gossip was inevitable, but there was no way to explain—so she might as well not bother.
Cecilia thought if she didn’t provoke anyone, everyone would just leave her alone.
But Cecilia had underestimated Charles Yin’s allure for the other single women in the company. She hadn’t even reached the third-floor stairs before someone stopped her.
"Cecilia Gu, are you sure you’re in the right place?" A female manager from Sales blocked her way. "You may have used your relationship with the CEO to become his lover and jumped from an unknown employee to assistant team leader. But this is as far as you go. Higher up? That’s not your place."
"Trying to get to the next level? You haven’t worked hard enough. If you want to be the CEO’s wife, not just an assistant team leader, you’d better marry him!" The manager looked Cecilia up and down with contempt. "With your looks, the CEO would never marry you. Whatever dirty tricks you used to get into his bed, you’re nothing but someone to keep his bed warm. What’s so special about being a mistress?"
Cecilia stood there, took a deep breath, and kept telling herself: Don’t get angry, don’t get angry! For the sake of the baby, don’t get angry!
"Please move aside. If I’m in the wrong place and get fired, wouldn’t that be exactly what you want? Wouldn’t that give you a chance to seduce the CEO yourself?" Cecilia used to get bullied all the time, but now that she’s going to be a mother, she can’t afford to be weak anymore!
Cecilia looked up at the manager standing in front of her. This woman had a seductive face and a killer body—no wonder she was resentful.
At that moment, Alex quickly walked over, shot the manager a warning look.
The manager knew Alex’s status in the company and instinctively let go.
"Team Leader, the CEO and the guest have arrived—they’re waiting for you." Alex said to Cecilia.
Just that one sentence made it clear why Cecilia was on the third floor, and showed everyone in the company that her status was nothing like before.
Cecilia gave Alex a grateful smile. She knew he was vouching for her.
Seeing Cecilia go up to the third floor with Alex, the manager’s face went pale. "How is this possible? Even as the CEO’s assistant, she’s not qualified to eat on the third floor!"
