Cecilia Gu, We Invite You to Dinner

1/4/2026

Besides, she was the rising star manager in the sales department, and last month her sales performance was the best in the entire team. Of course the CEO would know who really matters!

So she had to ask Cecilia Gu just what trick she used to keep the CEO from seeing her.

Cecilia Gu sighed. Why are there so many people in this world who want to climb into Charles Yin’s bed? If it was that easy, his bed would’ve been overcrowded ages ago.

Cecilia Gu held back her anger and replied, "It has nothing to do with me."

"Nothing to do with you? Serenity Pavilion only had the CEO, the client, and you. Besides you, do you really think I’d believe a client would gossip to the CEO?" The female manager grew angrier when she saw Cecilia Gu’s calm eyes, convinced Cecilia was mocking her.

"Sorry, I have things to do. Excuse me." Cecilia Gu couldn’t be bothered to argue with this woman and turned to leave.

The female manager grabbed Cecilia Gu’s wrist. "Leaving? Not so fast! You’re not going anywhere until you explain yourself!"

Cecilia Gu noticed a crowd quickly gathering downstairs, all watching the drama unfold.

It wasn’t just the female manager who wanted answers—everyone else did too!

How did Cecilia Gu manage to catch the CEO’s eye anyway?

Cecilia Gu looked at her calmly. "No comment."

How was she supposed to explain this? Was she supposed to announce to everyone that she walked into the wrong room, slept with the wrong man, and now was pregnant and forced to be with him?

Ha, even if she said it, would anyone believe her?

"So arrogant! Just a bedwarmer lover and you think you’re the CEO’s wife now? Looks like you really need a lesson! Today, I’ll teach you a lesson for the CEO, you shameless fox!" The female manager grew even angrier seeing Cecilia Gu’s calmness. She’d been kicked out by Alex just now in front of so many people in the company—she couldn’t let it go! She had to vent today!

Cecilia Gu struggled hard, trying to break free from her grip.

Seeing Cecilia Gu try to get away, the female manager lost her temper and raised her hand, about to slap Cecilia across the face!

"Hiss—" The crowd gasped in shock.

Everyone knew this new female manager had the best performance and was personally praised by the CEO.

But for her to actually try to hit someone—that was way too shocking!

Cecilia Gu’s wrist was pinned down, and she couldn’t move. All she could do was watch helplessly as the slap came toward her face.

Cecilia Gu instinctively closed her eyes, bracing herself for the inevitable slap.

But after waiting a long time, the pain she expected didn’t come. Instead, she heard the crowd gasp in shock even louder.

Cecilia Gu slowly opened her eyes and saw her coworkers frozen in shock, staring at something behind her with disbelief.

Cecilia Gu turned around slowly. When she saw what was happening, she was stunned too.

Charles Yin stood behind her like a god descending, grabbing the female manager’s raised arm. His eyes were icy cold—clearly furious.

"I had no idea the sales department’s job description included disciplining my people for me." Charles Yin’s gaze grew colder, and there was a murderous glint in his narrow eyes.

Alex immediately stood to the side, looking like he’d made a mistake.

"You just stood there and let her hit you? She’s nothing—she’s not even fit to carry your shoes!" Charles Yin glanced at Cecilia Gu, and seeing her scared expression, he couldn’t help but grit his teeth. This little thing—she had the guts to push him away in private, but in front of these nobodies, she suddenly turned timid?

Wasn’t she brave yesterday? Why so timid today?

As soon as Charles Yin finished speaking, all the employees watching gasped in shock!

What did the CEO just say?

He said... even the company’s top-performing sales manager isn’t worthy to carry Cecilia Gu’s shoes!

What does that mean? Does it mean Cecilia Gu’s status in the CEO’s eyes has completely changed?

By now, the unlucky female manager was completely dumbfounded.

Charles Yin shoved the female manager aside. "Inform HR. Fire her."

Alex immediately handed Charles Yin a wet wipe.

Charles Yin carefully wiped each finger clean, tossed the wet wipe on the floor, then took Cecilia Gu’s hand and left.

Alex quickly called HR to report Charles Yin’s decision.

The fired female manager stared at Charles Yin in disbelief, screaming wildly, "No, you can’t! I’m the company’s top sales manager! You can’t fire me! CEO, I’m sorry! I know I was wrong!"

She tried to rush over, but Alex immediately blocked her way.

"If you leave quietly, you’ll get your full severance. But if you keep causing trouble, you know our legal team isn’t here to play nice." Alex’s eyes were cold as he looked at the manager. The CEO was truly angry, and he knew he’d be in trouble too if things got worse.

So of course Alex wasn’t about to show any kindness to this troublemaking manager.

The manager froze, finally realizing she’d really messed up!

How could someone go from a lowly assistant in the Operations Department to Chief Executive Assistant to the CEO overnight? There had to be a reason!

The manager collapsed to the floor, silent for a long time.

"No one’s busy now? Does that mean no one wants to work anymore?" Alex looked up at the crowd. "If you want to get fired too, HR’s door is wide open."

With Alex’s words, the crowd that had gathered quickly scattered.

After Charles Yin led Cecilia Gu out of the restaurant, Cecilia shrank her hand back, and Charles let go of her fingers.

"S-sorry. I embarrassed you just now." Cecilia Gu couldn’t help apologizing.

"Hmph, if it weren’t for the child, I wouldn’t bother with this nonsense." Charles Yin’s voice was cold. "You’re a mother now. Don’t you know your mood affects the child’s development?"

Cecilia Gu hung her head, not daring to look at Charles Yin.

He really did care about the baby.

Baby, oh baby, Mommy really owes it all to you.

If it weren’t for you, Mommy would’ve been the one getting slapped today.

Seeing Cecilia Gu looking so guilty, Charles Yin suddenly felt his anger vanish.

The sudden change in emotion even made Charles Yin feel a bit out of sorts.

"Alright, let’s go back to the office." Charles Yin left Cecilia Gu behind and walked straight toward the office.

Watching Charles Yin’s back, Cecilia Gu let out a long sigh of relief.

Looks like from today on, she’d be safe at the company.

Unless someone else was stupid enough to go looking for trouble.

When Cecilia Gu returned to the office, Charles Yin wasn’t there.

Thank goodness! Whenever he was in the office, she always felt so tense. With him gone, she could finally relax and do what she wanted.

Of course, she didn’t really have anything to do—Charles Yin never gave her much work anyway.

Alex went out with Charles Yin, leaving the other assistants behind.

As the end of the workday approached, Cecilia Gu didn’t see Alex come back for her, and the other assistants were busy with their own things. She felt awkward asking them to take her home.

She gritted her teeth and decided to just take the bus home herself.

Cecilia Gu packed up, grabbed her bag, and got ready to swipe her card and leave the company.

As soon as she reached the lobby on the first floor and stepped out of the elevator, she was suddenly surrounded by a group of people.

Cecilia Gu thought they were coming to give her trouble again and instinctively took a step back.

"Xixi, it’s me, it’s me! We used to work in the same office!" Someone in the crowd spoke up eagerly. "We heard you got promoted, but we haven’t had a chance to celebrate! Tonight, let us treat you to dinner, okay?"

Only then did Cecilia Gu realize that the people surrounding her were her former colleagues from the Operations Department office.

Back then, whenever they had after-work plans, they’d always leave her out.

Because she’d have to stay late and finish their work for them.

Now they were here just to invite her to dinner?

Cecilia Gu was about to refuse, but then she realized Charles Yin probably wasn’t home tonight, so maybe no one would be eating dinner there anyway.

Cecilia Gu thought for a moment and said, "I can’t eat anything too spicy, and I can’t drink alcohol."

"Sure, sure, anything you want! You order, we’ll pay." The group was overjoyed, nodding and bowing as they invited Cecilia Gu to ride with them.

Seeing how eager and flattering they were, Cecilia Gu couldn’t help but want to laugh.

Back when they worked together, she’d greet them, but they’d ignore her.

Now that she was Chief Executive Assistant, they were suddenly all smiles and bows.

Cecilia Gu was curious where they used to go after work, and somehow ended up tagging along.

A few of them drove off in a big group to a Japanese restaurant.

It was Cecilia Gu’s first time in such a fancy place, and she felt a little out of place.

Back in school, she’d had to work part-time during holidays.

After starting work, it was all overtime, all the time. Her life was dull and monotonous—she never knew nightlife could be so lively.

Inside the private room, Cecilia Gu copied the others and knelt on a cushion, eyeing the elegant décor and marveling to herself: Eating in a place this fancy must be expensive, right?

"Xixi, now that you’re the Chief Executive Assistant, you have to look out for us in the future." The coworkers who used to look down on Cecilia Gu were now all smiles and flattery.

"Yeah, Xixi—oh, I mean Team Leader Gu now!" One slick coworker said with a flattering smile, "Team Leader Gu is the CEO’s favorite now, so we all need to stay on your good side. If anything ever goes wrong, please remember we used to work together and put in a good word for us, okay?"

The others all chimed in.
