Ethan Gray curled his lips in disdain. Maxwell Jing was clearly doing it willingly—he’d seen him go easy more than once, always letting Uncle Ethan win at the last moment and making it look effortless. Ethan couldn’t help but wonder: which of the two was truly stronger?

Shuyang Ye’s gaze shifted to Damien Gray, his expression stiff and his eyes full of disbelief. It was hard to accept that the Ghost King he’d always considered useless and the dreaded Ghostmaster were actually the same person. But thinking it over, maybe it wasn’t impossible after all!
He’d had people secretly watch Damien Gray for so long, but it had never amounted to anything. Thinking back, even though the Crown Prince and Prince Julian were always careful, unexpected mishaps still occurred. Yet the frail and ‘useless’ Ghost King had never met with trouble. Even if Emperor Alexander truly favored him, there should have been lapses. Besides, he knew Emperor Alexander’s affection for Damien Gray wasn’t as genuine as it seemed!
The struggle for the throne had always been brutal. Even Crown Prince Adrian couldn’t escape the fate of victory or defeat, yet Damien Gray remained untouched. Now that Prince Ethan had ascended, there was still no intention to move against him. That defied reason—Prince Ethan, as emperor, couldn’t be so broad-minded. The only explanation was that he simply didn’t have the power to touch Damien Gray!

Besides, he felt complicated. Consort Bella had saved his wife, and he’d always been grateful. But now, his daughter had been hurt so badly by Ethan Gray, maybe even fatally. He didn’t know how to face Damien Gray and Ethan Gray—should he cling to gratitude, or give in to hatred?
After Ethan Gray said those words, he fell silent. Damien Gray didn’t seem afraid to have his identity exposed—he noticed Shuyang Ye’s shock but said nothing at all.
Shuyang Ye steadied himself, then said nothing more. He carried Yuna Ye out.
Roxy Shangguan looked up and asked, "Daddy, will that old man say something reckless?"
Before Damien Gray could reply, Ethan Gray snorted, "Unless he has a death wish!"
Damien Gray’s eyes glinted with calculation. Looking at Ethan Gray, he smiled gently and said, "Ethan, you must be eager to improve your abilities, right?"
Morgan Shangguan could almost see a fox’s tail swaying behind Damien Gray. This cunning fox was about to scheme against his own son!
Ethan Gray narrowed his eyes at him, saying nothing. Damien Gray just smiled and continued, "The Ghost Guild has several training grounds. Different ranks go to different places. Only those who emerge from the training ground are qualified for their positions. There’s one place that neither Ethan Gu nor Maxwell Jing has ever entered!"
Ethan Gray interjected, "Because it’s too dangerous?"
Damien Gray nodded. Seeing Ethan Gray’s interest, the corners of his mouth lifted in a classic fox-like smile. Scheming against Ethan Gray was never hard—no one knows a son better than his father. Ethan Gray was just like him, always hungry for strength. Even if Ethan knew his father’s intentions, he’d willingly let himself be used!
Morgan Shangguan frowned but didn’t interrupt. Ethan Gray was no ordinary child—his choices were his own!
Without hesitation, Ethan Gray replied in a low voice, "I’ll go!"
Roxy Shangguan had been quietly listening, but now she spoke up, "I’ll go with my brother!" Her face, usually playful, was now solemn.
She might seem mischievous, but she understood what mattered. With her abilities, there was no reason to waste them, and she didn’t want to be a burden. Besides...
She reached out and touched Quentin’s Pendant at her chest, looking resolutely at Damien Gray and Morgan Shangguan.
Morgan Shangguan sighed inwardly. Though she was reluctant, she didn’t want to hold them back. No matter how terrifying the Ghost Guild and Cloud Guild might be, those were just external things. When facing true danger, only their own strength could be relied on. She didn’t want Ethan Gray and Roxy Shangguan to risk their lives for anyone else’s sake!
