Unreasonable Demands

Of course, both Damien Gray and Roxy Shangguan are already a cut above the rest in terms of ability. That may sound exaggerated, but to Morgan Shangguan, it’s not at all. There’s always someone better out there—if you set your sights too low from the start, how will you ever improve?

The Ghost Guild is different from the Cloud Guild. The Cloud Guild has many formations and is full of hidden dangers, but on the surface, it looks perfectly ordinary—sometimes even more beautiful than elsewhere. The Ghost Guild, on the other hand, is just as dangerous but doesn’t hide it at all. The aboveground part is fine, just looks a bit threatening and keeps you alert, but once you go below, there’s no room for relaxation—you have to stay on guard every moment.

Morgan Shangguan held Roxy in her arms, her gaze sweeping over the starkly simple underground passage. She chuckled, "No wonder they call it the Ghost Guild!"

Although it was an underground passage, it wasn’t cramped at all—the air was good, too. Along the way, they passed many stone chambers, some open, some sealed shut with stone doors, each serving its own purpose. It looked like an ordinary underground maze, but for some reason, there was always a chilling, eerie aura that made your skin crawl.

On the walls, skull-shaped objects held luminous pearls, illuminating everything clearly. There were no oil lamps, no flickering shadows, but the atmosphere was so cold and eerie it made you think of hell. It felt as if ghosts were following you, and you couldn’t help but glance back for reassurance. Sometimes, you’d even feel a faint itch on your ankle, making you wonder if a ghostly hand was reaching out from below.

If Morgan hadn’t seen for herself that there were no ghosts, she might have suspected that Damien Gray was raising a whole horde of them underground!

Damien Gray held Ethan in his arms. Seeing a frightening ghost mask hanging on the wall, he couldn’t help but take it down for a closer look. Finding it boring, he tossed it aside. Roxy blinked curiously at the surroundings, completely unafraid.

At last, they reached the end. Damien Gray reached out and activated a hidden mechanism. Suddenly, the stone door before them rotated, and a wave of chilling, evil energy surged forth. Morgan’s face grew tense—clearly, the cold aura throughout the underground came from here. It wasn’t the breath of hell, but it was just as cold, with an extra touch of wickedness.

Morgan looked at Damien and asked, "Are you sure this is safe?"

Damien stared at the scene beyond the door, his face expressionless. It wasn’t a stone chamber behind it, but a passage leading to who knows where. Unlike the brightly lit corridor they’d come through, it was pitch black inside—nothing could be seen. Just one door apart, yet it felt like two separate worlds.

Damien said in a low voice, "It’s not without danger!" Only when a person is truly at the brink of life and death can they unleash their inner potential. He had come out from there himself. During that time, he barely knew what he’d gone through—days blurred together, but some part of him knew he had to keep going, never give in. Because deep down, he understood: if he faltered even for a moment, he’d never get out.

Suddenly, he felt uncertain—was it right or wrong to let Ethan and Roxy enter this place? He believed they wouldn’t be any less capable than himself, but if anything went wrong...

Ethan suddenly broke free from his grasp, jumped down, and looked up at him with determination. "I’ll bring Roxy out with me!" he said earnestly.

Roxy slipped out of Morgan’s arms, looked up, and declared, "Daddy, Mommy, I’m really strong!" It sounded like a child’s boast, but she was completely serious.

Ethan took Roxy’s hand and strode inside without looking back, disappearing into the darkness at once. Damien frowned and called softly, "Morgan..."

Morgan raised her brows, wrapped her arms around his waist, and laughed, "What’s wrong? Regretting it? That’s not like you!"

Damien kissed her forehead, shook his head with a smile, "I really am becoming less and less like myself!" Having something to care about made him cautious, no longer as reckless as before.

Morgan kissed his lips and said, "You should trust them. The fifteenth of September is almost here—they’re actually safer inside." The people lurking in the shadows were unpredictable, and the mysterious force protecting Damien was still an unknown—friend or foe? They had to be careful, because none of them were alone anymore.

Damien glanced again at the endless darkness, closed the door, and smiled, "At least we’ve finally gotten rid of those two little troublemakers!"

With that, he turned with Morgan in his arms, pressing her against the stone wall, his hands growing restless. Morgan laughed and pushed him away, but seeing he wouldn’t budge, she gave up and asked curiously, "What’s the story behind this stone chamber?" It was clearly no ordinary room—if a regular person wandered in, they wouldn’t survive. Even the chilling, evil aura here was unbearable. She wondered how Damien had ever found such a place!

Damien pressed kisses along her ear, absentmindedly saying, "I accidentally wandered in here once. After I got out, I rebuilt this place as the Ghost Guild!" It had originally been an abandoned manor—he’d chosen it precisely because it was dangerous.

Morgan frowned. The chilling, evil aura must have built up over a long time—someone must have done something here to make it this way. Before she could think further, Damien’s hand slid to her waist, ready to undo her belt. Morgan snapped back to herself and quickly grabbed his hand. "I have things to do!"

Earlier, although Gu Yihan hadn’t said much, it was clear he needed her for something—the Cloud Guild must still be waiting for her!

Damien scowled, clearly displeased, nuzzling her neck and refusing to let go.

Morgan tugged at his hair, "Damien Gray, get up!"

Damien hugged her tighter, muffled, "Ever since we had the kids, I’m not important anymore!"

Morgan couldn’t help but laugh and shook her head, "Does the Ghostmaster really need me to coax him?" What was he up to now?
