Apologize Quickly
Mrs. Penny treated the wound, working diligently for a whole hour.
Meanwhile, Sophie White's screams lasted just as long, as if she'd endured a living torture.
Mrs. Penny didn't just cut away the rotten flesh—she also applied medicine and stitched the wound, leaving nothing out.
By the end, Sophie White was drenched in sweat from the pain, her clothes soaked as if she'd just been fished out of a river.
"All done. No need to thank me, Miss White. Just focus on healing," Mrs. Penny said, washing her hands and giving Sophie White's pale face a gentle pat.
Sophie White stared with lifeless eyes, too weak to even make a sound.
Mrs. Penny stepped out, one hand on her belly and the other on her back, looking utterly exhausted.
Alexander Hayes said, "Mrs. Penny, you're about to give birth and still took on all this trouble. You really worked hard."
Mrs. Penny smiled, "If it's a command from the Prince, how could I complain? I just hope Miss White doesn't hold a grudge against me for hurting her while cleaning the wound."
After speaking, Mrs. Penny turned to Dr. Rowan Lin and said, "Dr. Lin, if you need the medicine changed daily, just send someone to call me."
"Alright, Mrs. Penny. Take care," Dr. Rowan Lin said.
Only then did Alexander Hayes enter the room, seeing Sophie White so weak she was about to pass out.
The moment she saw Alexander, Sophie burst into tears and immediately complained, "Alex, that woman did it on purpose!"
Alexander Hayes frowned, displeased. "Sophie, don't be unreasonable. Mrs. Penny is about to give birth, yet she still worked hard to care for you. How can you blame her just because you were afraid of the pain? Your wound had to be treated—you're just venting your anger."
Dr. Rowan Lin lifted the curtain and entered, muttering behind Alexander, "I've seen this a thousand times. Patients beg for treatment, but complain about bitter medicine or painful procedures, and even hold grudges! It's always the same—helping people, only to be blamed. Miss White, you were brought here by the Prince for treatment, not because I went out of my way. Yet Mrs. Penny gets all the blame, and somehow it's my fault too? Miss White, we saved your life, but instead of gratitude, you slander your saviors?"
Dr. Rowan Lin was an elder, known for his eccentric temper and blunt speech. Alexander could hear the displeasure in his words.
Alexander Hayes immediately stood up, bowed to Dr. Rowan Lin, and apologized, "Father, Sophie was just rambling because the pain was too much."
Dr. Rowan Lin snorted, clearly unhappy. "Prince, you're not a mind reader. How do you know if Miss White is speaking from the heart or just babbling?"
Alexander glanced back at Sophie White and said quietly, "Sophie, hurry and apologize to Dr. Rowan Lin!"
Sophie White was beside herself. After being bullied so badly by Dr. Rowan Lin and Mrs. Penny, she'd only complained a little, but now Dr. Rowan Lin was making such a big deal out of it and demanding an apology!?
Sophie White stubbornly refused to bow her head. Alexander saw this and grew even more displeased. "Sophie, Dr. Rowan Lin is a world-renowned physician. Ordinary people aren't privileged to receive his care. Today he treated you as a favor to me. If you keep acting out, are you trying to embarrass me?"
