It Hurts, Help Me

Sophie White felt as if her guts were about to burst—she was in so much pain she could barely breathe. Finally, Mrs. Penny stopped, wiped the sweat from her brow, and said, "All the pus is out. Dr. Rowan Lin, what should we do next?"

Sophie lay there like a dead dog, half her soul squeezed out by Mrs. Penny. She was secretly grateful—finally, it was over! Any longer and she’d be a goner for sure. This was pure torture!

Outside the door, Dr. Rowan Lin asked seriously, "Mrs. Penny, clean up her wound and check how much necrotic tissue there is."

Sophie White jolted at the words 'necrotic tissue.' Only now did she remember Mrs. Penny had mentioned cutting away some dead flesh earlier!

"No, no! There’s no necrotic tissue on my wound—no need to cut!" Sophie shouted with a raspy voice, "Alex, I swear, there’s no dead flesh at all!"

"Dr. Rowan Lin, there’s plenty of necrotic tissue," Mrs. Penny said, staring at Sophie’s perfectly healthy wound without batting an eye at her own fib.

"You’re lying! There’s no necrotic tissue at all!" Sophie was about to faint from frustration.

"The wound’s been festering for ages—how could there not be any necrotic tissue? Miss White, do you want His Highness to come in and check for himself?" Mrs. Penny smiled sweetly at Sophie.

"Alex, come look! My wound is really fine! Mrs. Penny is just making things difficult for me—she’s out to get me!" Sophie was on the verge of a meltdown.

But outside, Alexander Hayes wasn’t about to walk in and inspect Sophie White’s stomach wound himself.

"Sophie, don’t be stubborn. Cutting away the dead flesh will hurt for a moment, but if you don’t, the infection will spread everywhere. Just grit your teeth and trust Dr. Rowan Lin and Mrs. Penny—they’re experts. Don’t let your imagination run wild; just believe in them." Alexander Hayes reassured her.

As soon as Alexander finished speaking, Mrs. Penny gave Sophie a wicked grin and mouthed, "His Highness isn’t coming in to check your wound. Right now, whatever I say goes."

Sophie wasn’t stupid. She’d already figured out Mrs. Penny was targeting her on purpose—and in the most vicious way possible!

"Aren’t you afraid that once I recover, I’ll come after you?" Sophie threatened, her chest heaving as she glared at Mrs. Penny.

Mrs. Penny clutched her chest, pretending to be terrified. She whispered, "Oh dear, I’m so scared! My heart’s racing! Even the baby in my belly is jumping at your threats!"

Sophie panted, "If you’re so scared, then stop being such a menace!"

Mrs. Penny flashed a dazzling smile and revealed the small knife she’d use to cut away the dead flesh. "Alright, my dear Miss White, whatever you say. But now you have to let me do my job and get rid of that necrotic tissue!"

"No, I don’t want to!" Sophie stared at the cold blade, imagining Mrs. Penny slicing into her belly. The thought sent chills down her spine!

"Be good, Miss White!" Mrs. Penny said, her face radiant with a mischievous smile. In one swift motion, she sliced beside Sophie’s wound and carved out a strip of flesh.

Cutting flesh hurt a hundred times more than squeezing the wound. Sophie screamed in agony, her cries echoing through the room.

"Ahhh! It hurts! Help! Someone save me!" Sophie screamed, her voice hoarse and desperate.

Mrs. Penny didn’t even blink. She calmly tossed the strip of flesh aside and began cleaning the wound with medicine.

Sophie was so weak from pain she couldn’t even lift her head. Her mind was a blur, but she could still hear Mrs. Penny and Dr. Rowan Lin discussing her wound.

Mrs. Penny said, "Dr. Rowan Lin, the wound’s been cleaned and the dead flesh removed. She’ll recover soon, but she’ll need to rest for a few days."
