The Heartthrob Arrives
Inside the bridal chamber.
Ever since Princess Mira was sent into the bridal chamber, she’s been restless. Sitting on the bed, she kept asking Lila, "Has Professor Jade Evans arrived yet?"
Lila was so startled by her princess’s question that her face turned green. The bride kept thinking about another man in the bridal chamber—if Prince Ling heard this, he’d probably explode.
Pressed by Princess Mira, Lila lowered her head and said, "I...I don’t know what’s happening outside, Your Highness. Now that you’re married to Prince Ling, you shouldn’t be thinking about Professor Jade Evans anymore."
Princess Mira refused to let it go. "Absolutely not! I delivered that invitation myself. If he comes, it proves he cares about me! Lila, go out right now and look for him at the banquet. See if Professor Jade Evans has arrived!"
Lila hesitated. "Your Highness, didn’t that country girl say last time that Professor Jade Evans seems to like Princess Lily Hayes of Qin? He probably won’t come..."
At those words, Princess Mira flew into a rage, jumped up, and pointed at Lila’s nose, shouting, "Nonsense! What are you talking about? How could Professor Jade Evans possibly like that wretch Lily Hayes! Hmph, what’s so great about her? She’s just the Princess Consort of Qin, so what? Today I’m the Princess Consort of Ling, and when Prince Ling becomes Emperor, I’ll be Empress! Let’s see how she escapes my grasp then! Lila, and all of you, get out and find him for me!"
Princess Mira pointed at Lila and the other maids she’d brought from Chu, ordering them out of the room.
The maids saw the princess was furious and didn’t dare linger. They all dashed out to look for Professor Jade Evans.
Once everyone was gone, Princess Mira yanked off her bridal veil and sat in the room, fuming over what Lila had said.
