Rolling Down the Slope

She dashed into her space to grab her hidden weapons, ready to poke her head out.

Just then, a voice echoed from midair: "Amitabha!"

Suddenly, everything outside went quiet.

Grace peeked out, following the sound, and saw that Master Sage Dao had arrived.

He was still dressed in his white robe, standing quietly atop a tall stone pillar.

"You?" The Phantom Uncle called out. "Why are you here?"

"When will the cycle of vengeance end?" Master Sage Dao said. "Let them go, please!"

"You want to interfere?" The Phantom Uncle's voice was cold and gloomy, like a shadow that never sees sunlight.

"Something like that."

"What do they have to do with you?"

"Fate has its own plans," Master Sage Dao replied.

The Phantom Uncle seemed wary of Master Sage Dao, nodded, and without another word, reached out to grab Grace Wan and prepared to leave.

"Sister!" Leon Wan cried out in a panic when he saw what was happening.

He had no idea when he'd woken up.

The Phantom Uncle glanced at him, and then... with a sharp sound, Leon Wan's head suddenly fell off.

In that moment, who knows if he regretted calling out "Sister."

Then, with a few leaps, the Phantom Uncle vanished into the stone forest.

Grace and the others stared in shock as Leon Wan's head rolled down the slope with a thud-thud-thud.

"Amitabha!" Master Sage Dao's voice echoed from above, filled with compassion.

"Master! Thank you for saving us!" Lena walked over and bowed her head in thanks.

The others also bowed and thanked him.

Master Sage Dao didn't say another word, nor did he step down from the tall stone pillar. He simply nodded and vanished.

He disappeared all of a sudden.

Grace swore she hadn't taken her eyes off him for a second.

Then, in an instant, he was gone.

It was as if he'd been nothing but an illusion.

"Where'd he go?" Grace rubbed her eyes. "He vanished just like that?"

"He's gone already!" Evan Xiao replied.

Grace couldn't help but sigh.

She always thought she'd seen it all.

But the two people who appeared out of nowhere today completely shattered her worldview—

Oh right! Evan Xiao!

Grace looked at Evan Xiao. There was blood on his shoulder, but she couldn't see any other wounds.

"General!" Grace called out in concern. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, just a minor injury."

"Really? That guy was so strong."

"I hid behind a stone pillar," Evan Xiao said. "I'm really fine."

Still, Grace couldn't quite relax.

Mostly, it was that sandstorm just now—way too terrifying.

"Why did he kill Leon Wan?" Bianca Whitefan asked, puzzled.

Grace thought for a moment and said, "My guess is that Grace Wan's background is very mysterious. And Leon Wan knew a lot of her secrets."

"All these years, I always treated her as important family," Lena sighed and shook her head. "Turns out... she was a real snake in disguise!"

"Exactly!" Minister Zhuo said bitterly. "She fooled us all and hurt both you and Grace so terribly."

Grace was luckier—she'd grown a Five-Element Heavenly Spirit Root, even stronger than the Celestial Spirit Root.

But Lena was the truly pitiful one.

She'd been bedridden for years because of Grace Wan, and now she had less than a year to live.

Minister Zhuo could only wish he could tear Grace Wan to pieces!

"Mmmph..." Someone was struggling on the ground.

It was Kevin Zhuo.

Leon Zane walked over, removed the gag from his mouth, and undid his pressure point lock.
