Sand

"Waaah... Daddy!" Kevin Zhuo bawled, flailing wildly. "No! No! Please, Dad, don't!"

Grace Wan clutched her bleeding chest, tears streaming down her face as she looked at Kevin Zhuo. Then she begged Minister Zhuo, "All three children are innocent. They know nothing! Even Gwen!"

Minister Zhuo still said nothing, his eyes full of hatred as he stabbed downward.

"Ding!" A crisp, almost cheeky sound rang out.

Suddenly, the sword in Minister Zhuo's hand snapped in two.

A single leaf spun through the air and landed softly on the ground.

Minister Zhuo was shocked and stumbled back several steps.

What kind of crazy cultivation is this?!

He broke my sword with just a leaf?! Seriously?!

Suddenly, a man in black robes descended from the sky, landing silently right in front of them.

This guy was seriously weird.

No one could sense even the slightest trace of his presence.

If you hadn't seen him with your own eyes, you'd never know he was there at all.

It was a creepy and terrifying feeling.

"Who are you?" Minister Zhuo frowned and asked.

"The one who's here to kill you all."

Minister Zhuo's face changed. "This is family business. It has nothing to do with outsiders! You'd better stay out of it."

The man in black didn't answer. He just bent down slowly and scooped up a handful of sand.

"Dodge." Evan Xiao's voice rang out.

Short but heavy.

At that very moment, Grace felt her vision blur—and all she could see was Evan Xiao’s back.

He was standing protectively in front of her.

Hearing Evan, Minister Zhuo grabbed the old madam and Lian’er, dragging them behind a massive stone pillar.

Li Zan pulled Bianca Whitefan behind another stone pillar.

Grace was too far from any pillar, so she just stayed put behind Evan Xiao.

Wait, what was that guy doing with the sand?

Grace couldn’t help but peek out from behind Evan Xiao’s back.

But it was like he had eyes in the back of his head—he reached back and gently pushed her head down.

"Uncle! Leave my son!" Grace Wan said, enunciating every word. "As for the others, I want them—all—dead!"

The uncle nodded, then tossed the sand with a flick of his hand.

The sand in his hand exploded into thousands of deadly projectiles, all shooting straight at them!

A burst of spiritual power erupted from Evan Xiao—aimed right at Grace.

Grace was sent flying backwards, totally out of control, landing smack dab in a pit.

Then she heard a shrill "whooo, whooo, whooo"—like the wind howling before a storm, mixed with the thunder of a thousand galloping horses. It was wild!

She looked up and saw something streaking past the mouth of the pit like shooting stars.

That... was sand.

The very same sand that guy was holding just now.

Grace swore, in all her years, she'd never seen anyone do something like that with sand.

And that guy? He'd just flicked his hand, like it was nothing.

What kind of terrifying cultivation was that?!

And just now, Grace Wan called him 'Uncle'...

Could this guy be connected to Grace Wan’s mysterious past?

Maybe... he really is from some terrifying ancient clan?

But how would a woman from a family like that end up as a concubine for her dad?

And stay in that role for over twenty years?

Plus, Grace Wan and her dad didn’t even have any love between them...

......

All these thoughts flashed through her mind in a split second—and then she remembered, the others were still outside!

Her dad and the rest had stone pillars to hide behind, but Evan Xiao was facing that guy head-on!

Suddenly, fear gripped her heart. Grace shouted, "Evan Xiao! Evan Xiao!"

"Don’t come out! I’m fine." Evan Xiao’s voice came from outside.

He sounded cold and tough, like nothing could hurt him.

But how could Grace possibly not worry about him?
