Chapter 958: Envoy

Daryl Su revealed a faint smile and nodded quickly.

"Lord Dubois Charles, rest assured. I will handle this personally. That damned clown wouldn't dare defy your orders. You can count on me."

But the Gray Orc fortress didn’t have any anti-flight arrays—just a warning rune. Daryl Su couldn’t care less; he’d come to flaunt his power and force Leon Merlin to give up the Four Seasons Plain, so he hadn’t planned on being diplomatic...

The Four Seasons Plain really is a good place. Damn that Leon Merlin—how dare the Merlin Family, with so little power in the Blazeforge Realm, occupy the Four Seasons Plain.

He really is lucky. Somehow, he managed to conquer the Gray Orcs and even got them to serve him.

Damn it, those Gray Orcs are useless at most things, but they've got plenty of alchemical golems. Even if they're all low-grade, they're perfect for mining...

Hmph, Leon Merlin got lucky last time and wasn't crushed by Lord Dubois Charles. He must've been scared out of his wits. Now that Lord Dubois Charles has spoken, does he really dare to defy him?

With Dubois Charles's approval, Daryl Su rushed straight toward the Four Seasons Plain.

When he stepped out of the teleportation gate, Daryl Su deliberately chose the fortress outside the Four Seasons Plain, rather than entering the plain directly.

He cast Flight all the way to the Gray Orc fortress, taking the opportunity to closely observe the situation on the Four Seasons Plain.

The climate of the Four Seasons Plain was mild, rivers crisscrossed the land, and even during a brief flight overhead, he spotted jungles and forests teeming with magical plants and herbs. There were also bustling mines, with countless alchemical golems tirelessly at work.

The sight made Daryl Su's eyes turn red with envy...

He’d never expected the Gray Orc fortress walls to be outfitted with so many anti-air magic towers—all of them, and they actually dared attack him!

My robes bear the unmistakable Black Tower insignia, and I’m clearly human. That damned Leon Merlin didn’t even ask questions—he just attacked me!

Even now, he hadn’t gathered enough materials, and without a spirit artifact perfectly suited to him, his strength remained below average among his peers.

Landing on the ground, Daryl Su gritted his teeth and glared at the Gray Orc fortress gate, storming over in a fury.

Add to that Leon Merlin’s grudge with the Black Tower’s Sky Rank powerhouse Dubois Charles, and Daryl Su immediately saw his chance. As expected, Dubois Charles was surprised and didn’t hesitate to seize the Four Seasons Plain.

He flew all the way to the Gray Orc fortress, and from a distance, Daryl Su could see a rune floating atop the fortress.

It was a rune in Nethic, signifying that flying over the fortress was forbidden.

Many human cities bore this symbol, though it was useless against Sky Rank powerhouses—generally, only those below Sky Rank were forbidden from flying over the city.

Naturally, Daryl Su noticed the rune floating in midair, but he didn’t care.

In other human cities, the symbol was merely a warning, since the skies above were protected by alchemists who set up anti-flight arrays. Anyone below Sky Rank couldn’t even get off the ground.

But the Gray Orc fortress didn’t have any anti-flight arrays—just a warning rune. Daryl Su couldn’t care less; he’d come to flaunt his power and force Leon Merlin to give up the Four Seasons Plain, so he hadn’t planned on being diplomatic...

But as Daryl Su sped toward the fortress, every anti-air magic tower on the walls suddenly swiveled to face him.

In just three seconds, at least twenty anti-air magic towers locked onto Daryl Su.

In an instant, over twenty streaks of violet light shot out from the towers. Each violet beam was wreathed in twin glows of ice and flame.

Daryl Su’s expression changed immediately; he hastily raised a rune shield and dove toward the ground.

The violet beams, like ray spells, exploded in the spot where Daryl Su had just been, followed closely by the icy and fiery glows.

In a flash, waves of spatial distortion rippled out, sweeping across hundreds of meters in an instant.

Caught in the blast, Daryl Su felt his Flight spell forcibly dispelled, the immense explosive force hammering his rune shield.

Plummeting from midair, his face pale, Daryl Su didn’t dare cast Featherfall—he let himself fall at full speed, only using Featherfall at the last moment to float gently to the ground.

Staring at the metal walls lined with anti-air magic towers, Daryl Su’s expression was grim.

If I hadn’t reacted quickly, those anti-air magic towers would’ve blasted me half to death!

Landing on the ground, Daryl Su gritted his teeth and glared at the Gray Orc fortress gate, storming over in a fury.

Anti-air magic towers mainly guard against airborne enemies, and their primary spell is Chaos Dispel. That violet beam covers hundreds of meters, disabling all flying and featherfall spells within its range.

The other two beams—ice and fire—are the real offensive spells, though their power is only about equal to a level-six spell.

But losing the ability to fly midair is like being an ordinary person falling to the ground—a level-six spell is more than enough to deal with most Titled Magi...

Daryl Su crashed to the ground at high speed. Only then did the swarm of anti-air magic towers cease their attack, and the fortress gates swung open as a tide of alchemical golems surged out.

(Irrelevant passage skipped.)

Over a hundred Level-30 Bladewalker Alchemical Golems surrounded Daryl Su, while another hundred Spellcaster Alchemical Golems stood on the outer ring, arms raised, magical runes glowing on their bodies, ready to cast spells at any moment.

Daryl Su’s face was deathly pale, his whole body shaking—not from fear, but from rage.

Damn that Leon Merlin, how dare he treat me like this! This is a provocation—a challenge to the Black Tower, to the Sanctuary, and to Lord Dubois Charles himself.

He’s finished. He’s dead for sure. Even if he hands over control of the Four Seasons Plain now, he’s doomed. When I report to Lord Dubois Charles, that damned Leon Merlin will be torn to pieces, his soul tormented in darkness!

Faced with a horde of Level-30 alchemical golems—emotionless constructs programmed only to fight—Daryl Su wisely kept silent and made no move to attack.

Hundreds of Level-30 alchemical golems surrounded him; if he made a single move, he’d be dead...

After several minutes, a legion mage finally emerged from the rear ranks of the golem army.

"I am Daryl Su of the Black Tower, here with Lord Dubois’s orders. What are you doing? Hurry up and get these stupid tin cans out of my way!"

Seeing a living person at last, Daryl Su immediately shouted at the top of his lungs.

The legion mage, expressionless, chanted a few spells. The surrounding alchemical golems automatically dispersed, resuming patrol and guard duties, paying no more attention to Daryl Su.

Following the legion mage into the Gray Orc fortress, Daryl Su kept his composure, saying nothing until he reached the interior and finally saw Leon Merlin. Then, with fury, he pointed at Leon Merlin and shouted.

Leon Merlin, look at what you’ve done! How dare you attack me—I am Daryl Su, envoy of the Black Tower and Lord Dubois Charles! You attacked me, damn it! Those stupid creatures must be severely punished!

Leon Merlin put down the book in his hand and replied calmly.

"The fortress defenses are all controlled by alchemical golems. They’ll attack anyone who comes near. I suppose you didn’t see the warning rune, Lord Daryl Su. I’ll be sure to give those golems a stern lesson."

Daryl Su was left speechless. What could he say? Argue with a bunch of mindless golems? Even if he destroyed them, what difference would it make?

That damned Leon Merlin—he really doesn’t take me seriously. What’s that supposed to mean? Is he calling me blind?

Just wait. Let’s see if you can keep talking like that for long!

Daryl Su sneered, lifting his chin and glaring coldly at Leon Merlin.

Leon Merlin, I’m here to deliver Lord Dubois Charles’s orders: you are to take your people and head to the frontlines immediately. The Black Tower will be taking control of the Four Seasons Plain.

Leon Merlin raised his eyelids, frowning slightly.

"Oh?"

Daryl Su sneered at Leon Merlin, as if looking at a vassal about to face judgment.

Leon Merlin, don’t you know what you’ve done?

Look at your actions—have you forgotten what time it is? Every force in the Andalusia Kingdom is fighting desperately; everyone is attacking the Blazeforge Realm's Gray Orcs, conquering fortress after fortress, all to catch up with the Odin Kingdom.

We’re still behind the Odin Kingdom in points, but there’s hope to catch up. Everyone is working hard just to barely keep pace.

And you—what are you doing?

You’re shamelessly hoarding wealth here, not even thinking about the war. We’re in the middle of a war!

You damned bastard—while everyone else is fighting at the front, you’re making a fortune off the war!

You’re drinking everyone’s blood—the blood of all our people in the Andalusia Kingdom!

Did you ever intend to win this war? Did you ever plan to beat the Odin Kingdom?

Is that why you’re hoarding wealth here?

Now, here’s your last chance. Hand over control of the Four Seasons Plain and bring your people to the frontlines. Lord Dubois Charles will forgive your mistakes and give you a chance to atone.

Otherwise, you can await judgment!"
