Chapter 957: I'll Take It

Upon entering the base, Leon unexpectedly learned that every Gray Orc alchemist here had already signed a soul contract. Krovitz insisted on signing one too, and Leon couldn't refuse even if he wanted to.

This guy was terrified that Leon wouldn't fully trust him without a contract, and that he'd be denied access to new alchemical knowledge.

Lord Shaun was utterly bewildered by someone begging to sign a contract.

Then, watching Krovitz sign his name on the soul contract without even glancing at it, Lord Shaun was at a total loss for words. The contract he'd prepared was just like the ones for the other Gray Orc alchemists—soul contracts, binding their loyalty beyond question...

Damn, that's a soul contract! This old man is supposed to be a top-tier creator—how can he be so careless? Didn't he even read the terms? Is he really just going to sell his soul so easily?

Krovitz's arrival instantly made those Gray Orc alchemists who'd been forced to sign contracts—and were still a bit resentful—completely submit.

Krovitz's reputation and status in the Gray Orc fortress were practically divine to ordinary Gray Orc alchemists—utterly beyond question or defiance.

Other matters, sure, people might complain—say Krovitz is eccentric, unsociable, unhygienic...

But when it comes to alchemy, who would dare say a bad word about Krovitz in the Gray Orc fortress? If you did, you'd be lucky not to get beaten to death in the street...

Leon announced that Krovitz would lead these Gray Orc alchemists, and naturally, no one objected.

Only Wagner's expression was sour; for no reason at all, a balding Gray Orc elder was suddenly made his equal, splitting half the base's authority. Of course he wasn't happy...

Still, when Leon spoke, Wagner dared not show any dissatisfaction. After Leon left, Wagner swaggered over to Krovitz's lab, riding the Spider Alchemical Golem that guarded the base...

Ever since Wagner took control of the base, the Sky Rank Spider Alchemical Golem had awakened. Unfortunately, its programming was to guard the base, so it couldn't leave. Leon wanted to borrow its power, but for now, that wasn't possible...

Now, the spider alchemical golem had become Wagner's bodyguard. With this Sky Rank golem around, Wagner's safety was guaranteed—no matter what happened, he'd be fine...

Riding the Spider Alchemical Golem, Wagner made his way over. No one dared stand in his way; even the Gray Orcs didn't dare block the base's controller.

Swaggering in, Wagner wanted to intimidate Krovitz, to let him know who really controlled the base—and warn him against any bad ideas.

But when Wagner reached the door of Krovitz's lab, he was utterly stunned.

Inside the lab, Krovitz had one hand pressed to the surface of a Level-30 Alchemical Golem. Mana surged, and in just a few seconds, the golem's structure instantly collapsed.

In the blink of an eye, it turned into a cloud of parts. All the components floated in midair—as if controlled by some invisible force.
