Enemy or Ally

The black qi seemed to be draining the woman's strength. She was in agony and cried, "You monsters!" The men just laughed loudly.

Evan Yang watched from the side. He thought this was a good opportunity—the woman didn’t seem like a bad person and might help him. Suddenly, he snuck up from behind and assassinated several Devil Realm cultivators. In just a few breaths, those living men became corpses.

The woman was shocked, staring at where Evan Yang appeared. She said, "Thank you, senior."

"No need. What's your name?" Evan Yang asked.

"My name is Xiao Xiang," the woman replied.

"I see. Do you know how to leave the Devil Realm?" Evan Yang asked curiously.

The woman froze for a moment and looked closely at Evan Yang, finally realizing he wasn’t from the Devil Realm. She exclaimed, "You’re not a native?"

"Yeah, that's right. I'm from the Immortal Realm," Evan Yang replied honestly.

The woman, who had been wary, relaxed after hearing Evan Yang’s words. "You really are honest," she said.

"Heh, Miss Xiao, do you happen to know?" Evan Yang smiled.

Hearing Xiao Xiang's words, Evan Yang realized how difficult it would be. After all, Demon Mountain was where the Demon Emperors and even Demon Lords gathered. It was a bit like the Immortal Realm Alliance, but much scarier—Demon Mountain united all the Devil Realm's strongest powers, while the Immortal Realm still relied on the Four Heaven-Battling Clans to keep things in balance.

"Is there really no way out?" Evan Yang said gloomily.

"How did you get here?" Xiao Xiang asked curiously.

"I came through a spatial crack," Evan Yang sighed.

"I see. Did you come from the Devil-Cloud Zone?" Xiao Xiang muttered.

"Devil-Cloud Zone? What's that?" Evan Yang asked suspiciously.

"It's the place in the Devil Realm where spatial cracks gather. It's said to be very dangerous—even Demon Lords struggle to come out unscathed. But it's a passage to other worlds, everyone knows that. Still, no one dares to risk it, so most choose Demon Mountain," Xiao Xiang explained.

"Such a place exists?" Evan Yang said excitedly.

"Yes, that's right," Xiao Xiang nodded.

"That's great, I want to check it out," Evan Yang said after thinking for a moment.

"No way! It's not only far, but also really dangerous," Xiao Xiang immediately objected.

"Thank you, Miss Xiao, but I have to leave, so I can only try that way." Evan Yang had his own treasure, so he wasn't worried about the cracks, which is why he wanted to try.

Evan Yang revealed himself, looked around, and smiled. "I didn't expect you'd have a hidden room like this."

'Um...' Xiao Xiang wanted to persuade him.

Suddenly, a loud noise came from above.

"What happened?" Evan Yang exclaimed in shock.

"Oh no, it's that damned demonic beast again!" Xiao Xiang cried out.

"Demonic beast?" Evan Yang asked suspiciously.

"That's right, they're similar to spirit beasts in your Immortal Realm, but here they're called demonic beasts, with much heavier demonic qi. Some even act like people, devouring humans to grow stronger. I built this secret chamber to guard against beast attacks from above," Xiao Xiang explained.

As soon as she finished speaking, the ground trembled again, and cracks even appeared.

"Oh no, this demonic beast is really strong this time. We have to leave quickly, or we'll be buried under the ruins," Xiao Xiang said in alarm.

"Let's go, follow me," Evan Yang said, grabbing Xiao Xiang and quickly moving through the debris below.

Xiao Xiang panicked, but quickly calmed down.

After a while, Evan Yang brought Xiao Xiang to the surface, far from the village. They could clearly see several giant beasts trampling there. "So dangerous!" Xiao Xiang exclaimed. "Why are there such giant beasts here?" Evan Yang asked curiously. "This is where demonic beasts roam. Those giant beasts are called Demon Giants, famous for their tough shells and hard to attack," Xiao Xiang explained.

"Looks like you can't live here anymore. You'll need to find somewhere else," Evan Yang said.

"Yeah, it's a pity, but at least I'm still alive," Xiao Xiang said with a smile.

"I should go now. How do I get to the Devil-Cloud Zone?" Evan Yang asked curiously.

"You really want to go?" Xiao Xiang asked with concern.

"Yes," Evan Yang nodded.

"Alright, I'll tell you." Xiao Xiang explained how to get to the Devil-Cloud Zone. After Evan Yang learned, he said goodbye to Xiao Xiang, then turned invisible. Xiao Xiang watched him leave, a smile slowly appearing on her face.

She took out the black bottle and smiled, "Didn't expect such a great find. I wonder if I can inscribe a demonic mark on it."

As soon as she finished speaking, a terrifying figure shrouded in black qi appeared beside her.

"He came from the Immortal Realm, let's kill him," the black qi figure said.

"No need. Don't you find him interesting? After all these years, I finally meet someone so amusing," Xiao Xiang said with a smile.

"But Master, rumor has it he recently destroyed Demon Mountain's Demonic Sha Formation. Now Demon Mountain is searching everywhere for him," the figure said. "So that's why they're looking for him everywhere. Never mind, Demon Mountain can do as it pleases. I'm curious to see how strong he really is," Xiao Xiang smiled and waved her hand. The demon giants vanished, and so did the village—it all felt like an illusion. "Master, the demon giants seem hungry. I'll take them out to hunt," the black qi figure said.

"Alright, go ahead. It's been so long since I took them out, and they're so lively—almost deafened me just now," Xiao Xiang said with a smile.

The black qi figure nodded, took Xiao Xiang's black bottle, and vanished. Xiao Xiang watched Evan Yang's departing figure, then disappeared without a trace.

Evan Yang had no idea about the woman's real identity. He still thought she was just a damsel in distress. But he wasn't in the mood to dwell on it—he only wanted to reach the Devil-Cloud Zone quickly. According to Xiao Xiang, it would take at least half a month to fly there.

So Evan Yang flew invisibly the whole way, afraid of being discovered by Devil Realm people.

"This kid is pretty fast, but no matter how quick he is, he can't escape my eyes," Xiao Xiang observed as she watched Evan Yang's faint, transparent figure flying through the air.

If Evan Yang knew Xiao Xiang could see him while he was invisible, he'd be utterly shocked.
