Accidentally Ruining Another’s Plan

At this moment, Evan Yang was heading toward the Devil-Cloud Zone as mentioned by Miss Xiao Xiang. As for the Devil-Cloud Zone, if it really was a place where spatial cracks gathered, he wasn't worried. He could just charge straight through, since he had a protective treasure.

On the way, Evan Yang flew for a very long time, so long that he himself lost track of time. Several times, the Wine Beggar and Lydia Yang asked Evan what was happening outside. Evan could only tell them the current situation and let them continue staying inside the treasure.

"Third Uncle, what exactly is this treasure Evan has? Why does time inside flow fifty times faster than outside?" Lydia Yang, bored after staying too long, asked idly.

"I'd like to know too, but that stone stele inside is engraved with 'Sky-Piercing Tower.' It's definitely a magical treasure," said the Wine Beggar.

"Sky-Piercing Tower? Why does that sound so familiar?" Lydia Yang said suspiciously.

"You recognize it?" the Wine Beggar asked curiously.

"I think I saw it in our family's ancient books when I was little, but it's been so many years, I've long forgotten," Lydia Yang replied awkwardly.

"No worries, we'll check again later. Maybe we'll find some useful information," said the Wine Beggar.

"Mm," Lydia Yang nodded.

While flying, Evan Yang overheard Lydia Yang and the Wine Beggar's conversation and was extremely shocked. He had never known the origin of this treasure, but there were actually records in the Yang Clan. He was overjoyed and resolved that if he ever returned to the clan, he would definitely find out where the treasure came from.

Just like that, Evan Yang flew for a long time again. One day, he finally reached the outskirts of his destination. Seeing the scene before him, he was surprised. The area ahead was barren, with not even a single planet—only clusters of clouds. But that wasn't the main point. The important thing was that the clouds were wrapped in layer upon layer of defenses, as fine as filaments, making it impossible to pass through. "Strange, Miss Xiao never mentioned these filaments," Evan muttered. Still, he remembered that the Devil-Cloud Zone was a dangerous place, and ordinary people wouldn't come here, so a bit of discrepancy wasn't anything to doubt.

So Evan Yang walked forward, but after only a few steps, several bolts of lightning suddenly appeared in the void, crashing down toward him. Quick as a flash, Evan hurriedly retreated. Luckily, the lightning was weak, and he blocked it by raising his hands above his head. "Good thing this lightning doesn't cause real harm," Evan muttered. But soon, many figures appeared around him. Their eyes were red, bodies stiff, emitting black demonic miasma—they looked just like puppets.

Evan Yang was startled. In just a moment, he was surrounded, but these people didn't trigger lightning at all—only he did when approaching.

"Who are you? Why have you come here?" asked a Demon Emperor whose eyes were red but vacant.

Evan Yang looked at the Demon Emperor and said, "I want to leave the Devil Realm. That's why I came here. Who exactly are you all?"

"We are the Demoncloud Legion," said the Demon Emperor.

"Demoncloud Legion?" Evan Yang asked skeptically. He had no idea there was such a legion outside the Devil-Cloud Zone in the Devil Realm.

"That's right, we're the Demoncloud Legion. But you're not from the Devil Realm. You want to enter the Devil-Cloud Zone? That's impossible. Everyone, seize him!" ordered the Demon Emperor.

Evan Yang was shocked as the group began attacking him, trying to capture him. At first, he was startled, but then he noticed a detail: these people were unusually stiff. Although some had Demon Emperor-level power, their movements were only as fast as an Immortal Lord.

Realizing this, Evan Yang immediately attacked the nearest Devil Realm soldier. That person spat blood on the spot, and Evan darted past him, leaping away to escape. The others were startled and hurriedly chased after him. Not only that, even more puppet-like figures appeared, trying to block Evan's path.

Evan Yang knew he had to get away fast. So, using Meteor Flight Art, he instantly vanished from the area, reached a more distant spot, and then used his invisibility art to hide, making it impossible for them to find him.

Those Demoncloud Legion soldiers, as if they'd lost their target, wandered around aimlessly, finally calming down and disappearing at the outskirts of the Devil-Cloud Zone.

"The Demoncloud Legion itself isn't really scary. What's frightening is that area—step inside and lightning appears, and who knows what's deeper inside." Evan Yang muttered.

Just as Evan Yang was pondering how to approach the Devil-Cloud Zone and then leave, he saw another group not far away. Like him, they wanted to leave the Devil Realm. Those people frantically fled, then settled down on a nearby planet.

Evan Yang realized that if he wanted to enter the Devil-Cloud Zone, he might be able to learn something from them. So, with a flicker, he went to that planet.

On that planet, Evan Yang watched them enter an inn and gloomily drink. One of them said, "Damn it, why did so many Demoncloud Legion soldiers suddenly appear?"

"Who knows? Our plan was perfect—there shouldn't have been any Demoncloud Legion at all. But then, out of nowhere, lightning appeared on the other side. As soon as I saw that lightning, I knew we were done for. Someone must have blundered in, got noticed by the Demoncloud Legion, and dragged us down with them," another said gloomily.

"If I ever find out who ruined things, I'll skin him alive," one person said, then gulped down his drink and slammed the table in anger.

"So it turns out I ruined their plans," Evan Yang muttered to himself.

"Alright, it's pointless to talk about it now. All we can do is wait," sighed a young man.

"There's only a quarter-hour each month when it's safe there, and now it's all wasted," the gloomy drinker cursed.

"Exactly. But we just have to wait. We've waited this long, one more month won't matter," another said.

There were four people in this group. The one who had been sitting quietly finally spoke after a long time: "This mission is tough. We only have three months. Next time, don't waste any more time, or you'll have to deal with the consequences yourselves."

"As long as we don't have such bad luck next month, we should be fine. Once we get inside and find that item, we can save a lot of people," the young man said.

"Don't be so naive. The Demoncloud Legion has stood for countless years—do you know why? That's Demoncloud Demon Lord's private domain. He has people guard it, so how could he let anyone touch it? Right now, it's guarded by a Demon Emperor under the Demoncloud Demon Lord, but if he finds out, he might show up himself and kill us with a single finger," said the quiet one.

These words made the others fall silent, realizing that their chances were slim. Although today's events gave them a reprieve, they had bought themselves another month of life.

"Alright, let's get to work. We'll meet here again a few days before next month," said the man after everyone fell silent.

The others said their goodbyes to the man. Finally, the young man said, "Brother Shi, see you next time."

"Alright, go ahead," the man said.

In the end, only one person was left sitting there, dazed. After several hours, he got up and went outside. After a while, he arrived outside the city, looked around to make sure no one was watching, and entered a cave. The cave was simple but full of traps—anyone who entered by mistake could lose their life. He stopped in the depths of the cave, sat on a stone bed, and took off his clothes.

Evan Yang naturally followed. When he saw the person remove their outer robe but still wear clothes underneath, he was puzzled. Was there something wrong with this person? Why wear an outer robe over another? But when Evan saw the robe, his expression became strange—it was women's clothing.

Just as Evan Yang was wondering what was going on, a woman's voice came from the man's mouth: "Whew, I'm exhausted." Then a woman's face appeared before Evan Yang.

"No way, a woman disguised as a man? But how did I not notice at all?" Evan Yang exclaimed in shock.

Just after the woman finished speaking, she collapsed onto the bed, muttering, "What bad luck. I actually failed today."

After thinking for a while, Evan Yang decided to reveal himself. After all, he was the one who ruined things today, and the woman in front of him didn't seem like a bad person. More importantly, Evan Yang wanted to figure out what was really going on in the Devil-Cloud Zone.

So, just after the woman lay down, a shadowy figure appeared beside the bed. The sudden appearance startled her—she sprang onto the bed and stared at Evan Yang. "Who are you?" she demanded.

"Miss, don't be alarmed. I'm not a bad person," Evan Yang said quickly.

The woman was shocked. How did Evan Yang get in here? She had only reached this place after passing through so many deadly traps.

"You're not a bad person? Then why are you following me?" the woman said, glaring at him.

"I just want to ask you something," Evan Yang replied.

"What is it? Hurry up and ask," the woman said warily.

Evan Yang thought for a moment and said, "I want to know about the Devil-Cloud Zone."

"Devil-Cloud Zone? Why are you asking about that?" the woman asked suspiciously, looking at Evan Yang.

Evan Yang looked at her reaction and said, "I'm from the Immortal Realm. I want to go back."

"Immortal Realm?" The woman stared at Evan Yang in surprise, then sized him up before relaxing her guard. Evan Yang was puzzled—why did she drop her guard just because he was from the Immortal Realm? Did Devil Realm people like to associate with Immortal Realm folks?

"You should have said so earlier. I thought you were some big devil from the Devil Realm," the woman laughed.

"Big devil from the Devil Realm?" Evan Yang asked suspiciously.

"That's right. There are plenty of big devils in the Devil Realm—almost everyone is," the woman said with a laugh.

"Well, not everyone in the Devil Realm is a bad person," Evan Yang said with a smile.

"That's true. I don't think everyone in the Devil Realm is bad either," the woman replied.

"So, can you tell me about the Devil-Cloud Zone now?" Evan Yang asked.
