The Hongqi sedan pulled up, executed a stylish drift, and came to a stop.
The car door swung open, and a slightly lean man stepped out. He wore a buzz cut, and his eyes radiated a wolf-like aggression.
He got out and swept his gaze around, pausing on each person in front of Hugh Hu, before finally locking onto Jason Liu behind Evan Lin. Then he strode forward, heading straight for Jason.
"Who are you?"
Hugh Hu’s heart sank. The moment he saw that military vehicle, he knew things were about to go south. Even Grizzly, clutching the Desert Eagle, felt a jolt of anxiety.
In China, just having a gun is already a crime. But he didn’t just have a gun—he was pointing it at someone. That’s a crime on top of a crime.
If the authorities really wanted to press charges, he’d be headed straight for prison—or maybe he’d have to start running for his life.
But the newcomer didn’t bother responding to Hugh Hu at all. He just kept walking toward him, step by step. Then, as he passed right by Hugh, Hugh caught sight of a snake emblem hanging on the man’s chest—and suddenly, his face changed dramatically as if he’d remembered something.
"All these people knocked out? Was that you?" Leo Yang glanced at the bodies sprawled on the ground, then looked at Hugh Hu, and finally at Evan Lin, who was calmly pressing his finger against the gun’s muzzle. He was full of disbelief.
Evan Lin ignored him and instead stared coldly at the grim-faced Grizzly. "Shoot," he ordered.
Grizzly flinched at Evan Lin’s words, clenching his teeth so hard his hand shook on the gun. But he didn’t dare act rashly.
Everyone’s attention was locked on them.
Luke Lu was fuming inside, unwilling to accept it. "Isn’t he just relying on his backup, knowing Grizzly won’t dare shoot?" he thought bitterly.
Even Grizzly, for all his guts, wouldn’t dare fire a gun in front of someone with a military vehicle. That’s just asking to get killed.
"I told you to shoot. Don’t you understand plain Chinese?" Evan Lin frowned, suddenly reaching out and grabbing the gun. Then, with a swift kick, he sent Grizzly flying.
It looked effortless, but that single kick launched Grizzly’s burly frame straight through the air. The Desert Eagle spun out of his grasp and landed in Evan Lin’s hand.
A burning pain shot through Grizzly’s abdomen, cold sweat breaking out on his forehead. Kicked to his knees in front of Evan Lin, he glared up with venom in his eyes. "Fine! You win! I, Grizzly, admit defeat!"
Grizzly gritted his teeth, feeling like Evan Lin was just putting on a show because he had backup.
Leo Yang, Jason Liu, and the others all stared at Evan Lin. Evan toyed with the Desert Eagle in his hand. "I told you to shoot, but you didn’t even dare. You really think having a gun makes you untouchable?"
Small men will always be small men.
Evan Lin let out a cold laugh, then flipped the gun around, chambered a round, and pointed the muzzle at his own temple—leaving just twenty centimeters of space.
"Dude, put the gun down!" Jason Liu’s face changed instantly when he saw this.
Even Leo Yang, usually stone-faced, was stunned. Luke Lu and Sharon Shen’s eyes went wide. Hugh Hu froze, and Grizzly, still kneeling and clutching his stomach, stared in disbelief.
"It’s just a gun. You really think having a gun means you can mess with me? You’re way too hung up on firearms." Evan Lin shook his head.
Truth was, Evan Lin was more than confident he could catch an ordinary bullet. Now that he’d reached Foundation Establishment, unless it was a heavy sniper rifle, regular handguns were basically no threat at all.
"Is he trying to kill himself?" Sharon Shen gasped, watching Evan Lin aim the gun at his temple.
The next second, Evan Lin calmly pulled the trigger.
Bang!
A deafening gunshot rang out. Just as everyone thought Evan Lin had blown his own brains out, he stood there perfectly fine—except now, between his index and middle fingers, he was holding a bullet that had just been fired from the gun!
The whole place went dead silent.
"That’s impossible!" Grizzly finally snapped out of it, shouting like he’d seen a ghost.
Hugh Hu, Chen Ren, and the others were just as stunned, left speechless.
He’d just caught a Desert Eagle bullet with his bare hands! And the gun had gone off only twenty centimeters from his temple!
"No way! No way in hell! There’s no way anyone could catch a bullet at such close range!" Grizzly roared, unable to accept what he’d just seen.
Leo Yang’s pupils narrowed, a sharp glint flashing in his eyes as he stared at Evan Lin.
"A frog at the bottom of a well could never understand what I’m truly capable of." Evan Lin shook his head, picked up the pistol, and fired a shot straight at Grizzly’s right calf.
Bang!
The bullet tore into flesh at point-blank range, and the explosive pain sent Grizzly sprawling to the ground, writhing in agony.
After firing the shot, Evan Lin swept his gaze over Hugh Hu and Chen Ren, who were still standing there, stunned.
Chen Ren met Evan Lin’s eyes and immediately collapsed onto the ground, wetting himself as his legs shook uncontrollably.
Hugh Hu was just as shaken, looking like he’d seen a ghost. His lips trembled, but he couldn’t get a word out.
Evan Lin took the Desert Eagle in his hand and squeezed gently—crushing the entire gun into a lump of twisted metal before tossing it aside.
Then Evan Lin glanced at Jason Liu and spoke coolly: "Weren’t you going to crack his head open? Need a hand?"
Jason Liu, still frozen in shock, snapped back to reality and quickly shook his head. "No need. I’ll handle it myself."
Hearing this, Luke Lu didn’t hesitate. He shoved Sharon Shen toward Jason Liu, then turned and bolted.
But Jason Liu was already on him. With a heavy kick, he sent Luke Lu sprawling, then pinned him down and started pounding his head with his fists. Luke screamed and cried for mercy.
"So, are we going to settle our score now?" Evan Lin turned to Hugh Hu, his voice calm.
"What do you want?"
Hugh Hu was terrified by Evan Lin’s gaze, his heart pounding wildly.
He was already regretting not notifying the Guang family. Who could’ve guessed Evan Lin would be unfazed by guns?
If only he’d called the Guang family for backup—after all, they were affiliated with the Jiangnan Sword Sect. Maybe then he’d have stood a chance.
"I’m not interested in squashing ants like you. But if you want to walk out of here in one piece tonight, you’ll have to agree to a few conditions." Evan Lin said coolly.
"If you can do it, you walk out. If not—see you in your next life."
