Evan Lin's icy voice echoed in Hugh Hu's ears, making his heart tremble uncontrollably.
Beside him, Grizzly was still clutching the wound on his calf, rolling on the ground in agony.
Jason Liu was straddling Luke Lu, raining down blows without mercy, each punch landing hard, while Sharon Shen watched in terror, her face pale as a sheet.
Leo Yang pulled out a cigarette from his pocket, lit it, and glanced over at Evan Lin, frowning slightly as if lost in thought.
Ryan Chen had already wet himself, not daring to utter a single word.
"What do you want me to do?!" Hugh Hu's voice trembled, unable to make sense of what was happening—everything felt unreal, like a dream.
The guy who'd just caught a Desert Eagle bullet with his bare hands—was he even human? Hugh had seen Grant family experts try to face off against handguns before, but those were just ordinary nine-millimeter pistols, and they did it from thirty or forty meters away.
Even then, it was a close call—they barely dodged the shots, not caught the bullets between two fingers!
That was way too freakish—even now, Hugh Hu's head was still buzzing.
"First, talk while kneeling." Evan Lin said flatly.
"What did you say?!" Hugh Hu's face changed instantly at Evan's words.
Making him kneel in public—if he really did that, he'd lose all his dignity!
But when Hugh finished speaking and met Evan Lin's gaze, his heart skipped a beat. Only then did he realize how bad the situation was.
"Does it have to be this harsh? Can't we talk it over and work something else out?" Hugh pleaded, but Evan Lin just snorted coldly—the sound blasted in Hugh's ear like thunder, making him stagger.
"I'm ordering you to kneel—this isn't a negotiation. I'll count to three. If you're not kneeling by then, go reincarnate!" Evan said indifferently.
"One!"
Feeling the killing intent radiating from Evan, Hugh Hu dropped to his knees with a thud, trembling all over.
"Good. That's the first thing. The second is even simpler—from now on, you're my dog. If I tell you to go east and you dare go west, I'll break your dog legs! Got it?"
Evan's cold shout made Hugh Hu shudder even harder. He nodded frantically, "Got it, got it!"
"Get lost!"
Hugh Hu scrambled to his feet and bolted, not daring to look back.
Evan Lin glanced at Ryan Chen, who'd wet his pants on the ground, and frowned. "Ryan Chen, go home and tell your parents—I'll be paying them a personal visit soon."
Hearing Evan's words, Ryan didn't dare say a single thing.
Evan couldn't even be bothered to hit Ryan, who'd soiled himself; after a single shout, Ryan scrambled away on all fours like a dog.
"Clean up this mess yourselves, got it?"
Leo Yang walked over to Grizzly, who was still clutching his leg, and gave him a kick. Then he picked up the gun from the ground, glanced at Evan Lin, nodded slightly, and reached out his hand. "Leo Yang."
"Evan Lin." Evan replied simply, giving Leo a quick once-over. Leo felt much stronger than most people, though he kept it hidden—ordinary folks wouldn't notice.
"I'm here to pick up Jason Liu. All these years he's stayed in Capitalview just for Sharon Shen. When he was a kid, he even pulled a knife because of her. Later he turned into a wimp for her sake. You think it was worth it?" Leo glanced at Jason, who was still beating up Luke Lu, and spoke calmly.
Evan didn't reply. Leo just shook his head to himself, "I don't think it's worth it, but there's nothing you can do—some people are just loyal like that. But after today, looks like that loyalty's finally run out."
Sharon Shen was still standing nearby, looking pale and lost.
Luke Lu's whole face was swollen like a pig's head, beaten out of shape.
After a long moment, Jason Liu got up from the ground, took a deep breath, and brushed past Sharon Shen without even glancing at her. He walked up to Evan Lin, bowed, and said, "Thank you."
Evan Lin didn't say anything, just nodded slightly.
Finished? Not planning to cripple him or anything? Like, make him sterile? Leo Yang glanced at Luke Lu, raising an eyebrow.
No need. Let's go. Jason Liu shook his head.
Leo Yang looked at Evan Lin, full of admiration. "If you ever want to walk a different path, you can contact me or Jason. With what you just did, you'd be better than most of the guys in the Viper squad."
Jason Liu gave Evan Lin a simple farewell, then followed Leo Yang onto the military vehicle and drove away.
Sharon Shen stood there, looking pale, staring blankly at the military vehicle speeding away.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Luke Lu, beaten and crying by Jason Liu, and felt an emptiness inside, as if she'd lost something.
Evan Lin yawned, walked up to Grizzly, and stomped on his face, grinding his head into the ground.
Hugh Hu sent you, so you dared come? Even brought a gun—pretty gutsy. Let's see you act tough now. Evan Lin said coldly.
I'm sorry, bro, I'm sorry! Spare me! If you want me to walk through fire, I'll do it—if you want me to jump into boiling oil, I'll jump!
Listening to Evan Lin, Grizzly's guts felt like they were splitting.
If Grizzly still had any resentment and thoughts of revenge earlier, after hearing the word "Viper," his last bit of courage vanished.
Viper, after all!
Thinking about how terrifying that special forces unit was, Grizzly almost felt lucky that Leo Yang hadn't just shot him. And Evan Lin catching bullets with his bare hands—Grizzly felt like he'd just met a god.
Smart move.
Evan Lin didn't actually plan to kill him. With such a mess, Evan couldn't be bothered to clean up.
Only after Evan Lin left did Grizzly shakily get up, pull out his phone, and call someone to clean up the mess.
Capitalview—when did such a monster show up here?
Grizzly was scared out of his wits, his face full of misery.
In the military vehicle, Leo Yang drove, with Jason Liu speeding along beside him.
Your grandpa gave you two choices: first, join a regular unit and be a soldier. Second, join the Viper training squad, and if you pass the tests, serve in Viper.
Pick the first, and you'll have a safe, comfortable life, retire with honor. Pick the second, and you'll be living on the edge—maybe die unknown. Your choice.
Leo Yang said calmly, glancing at the still-silent Jason Liu.
The second. Jason Liu answered almost without hesitation. Leo nodded and said nothing more.
The military vehicle sped off into the night and finally disappeared.
