------------
Northern Myanmar — Remote Mountain Region
Endless stretches of tropical rainforest, hot, humid, and wild. Towering trees intertwine throughout the primeval forest, tangled vines and waist-high wild grass everywhere, along with unique Southeast Asian species. Swamps and streams dot the landscape, and fearsome jungle pythons lurk between valleys and woods, hunting for prey. The cries of birds and animals echo constantly, with poisonous snakes, insects, biting red ants, and leeches hiding in the rain forest. All these make up the perilous and terrifying jungle known as the "Scarlet Inferno" of Myanmar.
It's June, the rainy season has arrived, and the weather in the rainforest is unpredictable—either raining all day or, when the sun does shine, temperatures soar to nearly 40 degrees Celsius, making heatstroke a real danger. Under the blazing sun, a fierce jungle chase is underway in a corner of the original forest of Northern Myanmar.
“Rat-tat-tat-tat!” The gunfire blazed nonstop, mixed with the barking of military dogs. Over a hundred armed men split into two groups, flanking left and right, searching and chasing through the rainforest in a pincer movement. Their weapons spat flames, bullets tearing through grass and trees. Not far ahead, three agile figures darted through the jungle, pushing through vines and wild grass, dodging whistling stray bullets.
The two pursuing groups were armed drug traffickers entrenched in the deep forests of Northern Myanmar—underlings of the notorious drug lord Nick Carter. Following two professional mercenaries skilled in jungle warfare, they split into two teams, each with several military dogs, tracking the scent of the three fleeing individuals.
The fugitives were two young men and one woman, all dressed in jungle camouflage. At the moment, they looked battered—their sturdy camo suits torn to shreds by thorns and wild grass. Dodging their pursuers, their faces were scratched by sharp blades of grass and hooked vines. The woman clutched her ripped, tattered camo, looking like a beggar, yet her explosive figure was still apparent. Despite her delicate face and smooth skin being marked by scratches, her beauty wasn’t ruined—though the scent of blood could easily attract the military dogs hot on their trail.
The woman was Jade Swann from the Special Abilities Taskforce, and the two men were elite operatives from China’s famed Dragonblade Unit. Originally, four Dragonblade members joined Jade Swann as a five-person team for this cross-border pursuit, successfully recovering stolen secret documents. But on the way back, US Special Operations agents secretly struck a deal with Nick Carter, offering tempting terms to delay Jade Swann’s team. As they passed through Northern Myanmar, they were surrounded by Nick Carter’s militia—their situation now perilous!
To distract the enemy, two Dragonblade members split off to draw away part of the pursuers, but lost contact with Jade Swann’s trio in the vast rainforest. The two Dragonblade operatives retreating with Jade Swann provided cover. As Dragonblade Unit members, their skills were top-notch, so despite the crisis, the trio remained calm, methodically engaging their pursuers and seizing every chance to take out enemy forces.
One Dragonblade operative, covering the rear, dealt with one group of pursuers. As he retreated, he quickly planted several Model 6 tripwire grenades in the grass along their escape route. These lightweight grenades—less than five kilograms—were easy to carry. Each device had seven pull cords, each six meters long. If an enemy tripped any cord, the grenade would leap over a meter into the air and explode, posing a deadly threat. No need to bury or set up—just pull the safety pin and it’s ready, perfect for fast deployment in emergencies.
The other Dragonblade operative covered Jade Swann’s retreat, keeping a set distance and skillfully maneuvering against the second group of pursuers. He knew the enemy, aided by military dogs, would track them along their escape route. Using the eight-word tactic: 'If the enemy is fast, I’m slow; if the enemy is slow, I’m fast,' he did everything he could—calmly setting up vicious traps along the way and opening his comm channel to signal headquarters for backup, but received no reply. With the jungle-savvy militia closing in, he told Jade Swann to go ahead with the secret documents while he stayed behind to draw enemy fire. Once Jade Swann was clear, he swiftly climbed a dense tree, pulling out his SGS7 combat knife.
Ahead, landmines exploded—'Boom! Boom!'—followed by screams and the howls of military dogs. The pursuers suffered heavy casualties, their ranks thrown into chaos. Yet under the mercenary commander’s orders, the armed men pressed on, stepping over the bodies of their comrades and continuing the search. Even as they advanced with caution, the traps set by the two Dragonblade operatives kept inflicting losses.
Sometimes, pushing aside a clump of grass would trigger sharpened branches flying out, leaving pursuers bloodied. Or, stepping on a branch could set off a grenade below! When one isolated pursuer nervously leaned against a tree, he suddenly heard the rush of wind overhead. Looking up, a shadow dropped from ten meters up, landing directly on him and knocking him senseless—then finished him off with a swift stab to the heart!
