General Roland Is Betrayed

1/19/2026

(The internet suddenly went out last night, and Xiaoxiao was on the verge of tears. Now updating from an internet café—thanks to Dream Maiden Huanni Yaomei for your strong support, Alliance Leader, you're awesome!)

“What... what cultivation realm is that woman? How is she so fast?” Rowena asked after Selena left.

“She’s just a bit stronger than you. Come on, let’s go help her—if anything happens to her, we couldn’t answer for it,” Evan said with a smile.

He immediately dashed out, leaving only Rowena and Gavin stunned in place.

“Let's go too! With Brother Evan there, nothing will go wrong!” Gavin said, then rushed after them.

Seeing the three join the fight, Rowena had no choice but to follow. Her only hope was that her father would arrive in time; otherwise, they might all die here.

Selena was like a killing machine, instantly slaughtering over ten people. The other Royal Capital Guards were so terrified they desperately tried to escape—she took down each one with a single move, leaving Rowena speechless with shock.

Evan, Gavin, and Rowena, on the other hand, didn't kill a single enemy. The gap in strength was too great—they were lucky just to protect themselves.

“Evan, there must be a problem inside the Royal Capital Guard, or else Great General Roland wouldn’t be unaware of the chaos here. We have to go check on him!” Selena said.

“My father is a Divine Martial powerhouse—who could possibly harm him? Maybe he’s just busy handling other matters right now,” Rowena replied.

“That’s hard to say. If someone close to him betrayed him, it could really happen. We can’t be careless—let’s go check,” Evan said, agreeing with Selena.

Evan’s words made Rowena anxious. “Let’s go see what’s really happening. Why would the Royal Capital Guards rebel?” she said.

The four of them rushed toward Great General Roland’s quarters, but on the way saw him already fighting several Royal Capital Guards—including his most trusted subordinate, General Mason Ma.

Evan saw that Roland’s golden armor was already stained with blood—clearly he was seriously wounded. Otherwise, these ‘shrimp soldiers and crab generals’ wouldn’t be able to threaten him at all.

Seeing her father like this, Rowena immediately cried out, “Father!” and rushed forward.

“Rowena, get out of here!” Roland roared, coughing up blood after taking another blow.

Evan couldn’t stand it anymore and said to Selena, “Go kill those traitors—General Roland must not fall!”

Selena smiled, teasing, “How could I not listen to my husband? I’ll go kill them now!”

Gavin was stunned by Selena’s words. “Brother Evan, the auction master called you her husband—what’s going on? When did you get married?”

“Don’t listen to her nonsense. There’s nothing between us! It’ll never happen. Roland was definitely ambushed—otherwise, these people wouldn’t be able to touch him,” Evan said worriedly.

Selena had already reached Roland’s side. She glanced at the guards threatening him and smiled faintly, "You may die now."

As soon as she finished speaking, she struck out with two lightning-fast palms—two guards were sent flying, and their fate was clear: death.

To kill Heaven Martial experts in a single move—any fool could see it. This masked maiden was actually a Divine Martial powerhouse.

The remaining guards sensed danger and tried to flee, but after a few steps they were immobilized—caught by invisible hands. Their bodies were yanked backward, a piercing pain stabbed through their backs, and they were flung into the air, trailing blood before crashing lifeless to the ground.

Only one was left now—the strongest, whom Selena decided to save for last and play with slowly.

Selena took less than a minute to slaughter these guards, leaving Rowena utterly terrified. Her mind struggled to process it—the so-called distinguished guest was so powerful it defied belief.

Roland’s face was now dark and ashen, clearly poisoned. He looked at Selena and said, "Auction master, please cripple that despicable man for me. I want to kill him myself."

“Don’t worry, General Roland—he won’t escape. I’ll cripple him for you,” Selena said. With a flick of her hand, the guard was lifted into the air; then she twisted her wrist, and the man screamed like a slaughtered pig.

Selena released her grip, and the man crashed to the ground, his face iron-blue, clearly suffering immense pain as he coughed up mouthfuls of blood—an utterly horrifying sight.

Evan and Gavin walked over, and seeing Roland’s condition, immediately understood what had happened.

Roland used his longsword to support himself as he slowly walked over to the fallen traitor. "Mason Ma, I treated you like a brother. I trusted you, and you still betrayed me—poisoning my tea. How could you do this to me?"

Mason Ma tried to struggle, but couldn’t move. Selena had shattered his Heaven Star Core—he wouldn’t live long even if Roland didn’t kill him. The star force inside him rampaged, agonizing like Evan’s breakthrough into the Starforge Body.

Gritting his teeth through the pain, Mason Ma said bitterly, "Don’t blame me—blame yourself for being too naive. The Prime Minister recommended me to you, and you forgot."

"Now the Prime Minister is launching a coup, and you were always the first target. But don’t worry—soon after I die, you’ll join me. The poison I used has no antidote; no pill or elixir can save you. Hahaha!"

Mason Ma’s words left everyone sickened—especially Rowena, who was already in tears as she looked at Roland, remembering his love and patience and feeling immense guilt for never showing him proper filial respect.

Seeing the tears on his beloved daughter’s face, Roland felt a stabbing ache in his heart. But poisoned as he was, there was no saving him. Forcing a smile, he said, "Rowena, no crying. Luo family children don’t shed tears. Even if I’m gone, you mustn’t be sad."

"This Royal Capital turmoil will be huge. You must check on Second Prince Skylar and the Emperor right away. If I had a traitor at my side, I’m sure they do too."

After speaking, Roland spat out a mouthful of black blood, its stench so foul it made everyone nauseous.

“Father, stop talking—you’ll be fine. I won’t let you die! I’ll listen to you from now on, I won’t be stubborn anymore! Dad!” Rowena finally broke down, sobbing in grief.

Then Rowena glared at Mason Ma, "You treacherous dog—my father treated you so well, and you still poisoned him. Go to hell!"

With a flash, two short swords appeared in her hands. A sweep of sword-light sent Mason Ma’s head flying ten meters into the air.

At that moment, Roland slowly collapsed to the ground, his breathing shallow—more out than in...
