The Slaughter Begins

Seeing the markings on Evan Chu's arm and back, Selena cried out, "Oh my god, how is this possible? How could you have signed Soul Contracts with two magical beasts? This is completely unheard of!"

If Selena knew that Evan Chu could actually sign contracts with three beasts, she might just start treating him as a total monster.

"Why do you say that? Is it really so strange?" Evan Chu chuckled, then put on his undershirt, getting ready to try on the armor.

"Evan, are you messing with me? Anyone who can get a magical beast to willingly recognize them and sign a Soul Contract is a peerless powerhouse, and you're just at the Earth Martial Realm. And you have two? I can hardly believe it," Selena said.

Evan Chu tried on the armor, checked himself out, and grinned, "Do I look like a general now? Am I suave and handsome, or what?"

"Stop dodging the question. How did you do it? Can you tell me?" Selena looked at him with hopeful eyes.

"You really want to know? Give me a reason and I'll tell you, since this is top secret stuff—I never tell normal people," Evan Chu said, looking at Selena, secretly amused.

Selena glared at Evan Chu and said, "My Demon Clan has a secret technique—if you can sign a Soul Contract with a high-rank magical beast, you can gain half of its abilities. Your strength would skyrocket."

"Really? That's news to me. Since you're being so honest, I'll tell you: they actually came to me themselves, said I'm the future overlord, and that following me is the way to go," Evan Chu laughed.

Selena looked at Evan Chu, half believing, half doubting. She thought he might be lying, but only true superpowerhouses could get magical beasts to willingly submit. Some high-rank beasts can even predict the future and know their master's destiny.

“Evan Chu, let me see you in your new armor!” Gavin Wei’s voice suddenly rang out from outside the door, loud and impatient as always.

Selena Chen—the Dream Maiden—hurriedly adjusted her black veil, giving Evan Chu a playful glare. "Your little brother’s here. Aren’t you going to open the door?" she teased, her tone half-mocking, half amused.

Evan Chu could tell Selena Chen was blaming him for not telling the truth, so he shrugged and called out, "The door’s not locked. Just come in!"

As soon as Evan finished speaking, Gavin Wei barged in with someone else. Spotting a woman in Evan Chu’s room, Gavin’s eyes widened for a split second before he grinned and saluted, "Gavin Wei greets the honored guest!"

Selena Chen nodded gracefully in reply. The person with Gavin was Rowena Luo, daughter of General Roland Lowell. The moment Rowena saw a woman in Evan Chu’s room, she gasped, her eyes blazing. "Evan Chu, you’re finished! How dare you fool around with women in the barracks—I’m reporting you!" she blurted, her tone both outraged and triumphant.

Evan Chu smirked at Rowena Luo. "Are you an idiot, or is something wrong with your head? Aren’t you a woman too? Now that you’ve barged into my room, does that mean I’m playing with you as well?" He shot back, his words sharp and deliberately provoking.

Evan Chu’s words were like daggers, making Rowena Luo bristle. "I’m a Royal Capital Guard! How can you call me just a woman? Don’t be so unreasonable!" she snapped, pride and anger warring on her face.

Evan Chu laughed, "Heh, I called you an idiot and you still don’t believe it. Did you forget what your father said about the distinguished guest? You actually dare treat our guest so rudely. Maybe you’re not fit to be a Royal Capital Guard after all. Better hope General Roland doesn’t hear about this."

Evan Chu’s words hit Rowena Luo like a slap. She froze, suddenly realizing the woman in the room was the high-status guest her father—the great General Roland Lowell—had warned her not to offend. Mortification swept over her, her cheeks burning with shame.

Rowena Luo’s face turned crimson, and she just stood there, awkward and speechless, not knowing whether to apologize or run for cover.
