Chapter 998: Mana Crystal

Then, in midair, nine massive lava vortexes—each over ten meters wide—appeared, forming a circle. Countless lava spells erupted wildly from within the vortexes, flooding the area within a hundred meters in a torrent of magic...

The first Orc Windrider to charge into the magical storm lasted barely two seconds. Both he and his mount were torn to shreds by the barrage of spells.

Six Orc Windriders formed a line and dove straight into the maelstrom of spells. In just three or four seconds, four of them were ripped apart, while the last Windrider managed to grab the Red Flame Fire Fox's head and tried to take off—only for Leon to suddenly appear above him.

A flash of flame streaked past, and nine fire vortexes closed in around him, instantly engulfing him in a torrent of lava spells. Scalding magma churned through the air, incinerating everything inside to ashes.

At that moment, the remaining Blazeforge Orcs, riding wyverns, unleashed a barrage of meteors toward the ground. Yet Leon blocked them all. The Blazeforge Orcs circled in the sky for a few seconds, cursing bitterly in their own tongue before finally turning tail and fleeing.

Watching the Blazeforge Orcs retreat, Leon frowned deeply.

The Mage Legion was wounded, their mana depleted, and even Reina was injured. Leon alone could never hope to keep all the Orc Windriders from escaping.

Everyone was hurt, their defenses dangerously low. Even the weakest of these Blazeforge Orcs had the power of an Eighth Rank Sword Saint. If they broke through, the losses would be catastrophic.

Several Blazeforge Orc Sword Saints had been slain—four Eighth Rank Sword Saints and two Ninth Rank Sword Saints. The enemy had suffered heavy casualties as well.

You have to understand, orcs of this caliber are at least Orc Warlords who command a major fortress. Those two Ninth-Rank Orc Sword Saints probably ruled over several fortresses each, and now they've all died here.

If it had been any other Title Archmage, there’s no way they could’ve stopped the orcs from taking the corpse of the Red Flame Fire Fox…

"Damn it, those bastards actually ambushed Lord Hubert, trying to steal his spoils—unforgivable…"

Hubert cursed loudly and kicked the corpse of an Orc Sword Saint, sending it flying.

After scouting with the Eagle Eye Spell, Leon found that the Orc Windriders had indeed retreated. Only then did he begin leading his men to collect materials from the Red Flame Fire Fox.

As a fire-type magical beast, even at its lower levels, the Red Flame Fire Fox's fur was more valuable than that of any other magical beast of the same rank. Now that it had advanced to Sky Rank, its fur was even more extraordinary.

Even after being caught in the crossfire, with its magical protection gone, the Red Flame Fire Fox's fur was barely damaged. Not even magma burns could destroy it.

The usable fur was carefully stripped and processed, making it excellent material for mage robes. However, it was best suited for mages specializing in fire spells. The finest use for it, though, was crafting magic scrolls.

Materials suitable for crafting magic scrolls are extremely rare, especially for high-level spells—almost impossible to find.

That’s why the Red Flame Fire Fox’s fur is worth more than all the other materials from magical beasts of the same rank combined—because once processed, it can be used to craft scrolls of the same rank!
