Inspecting the Textile Works
Today, as usual, the female workers were in training. The Female Supervisor began letting them slowly get acquainted with the machines and learn how to operate them.
Greta was especially focused in her studies, but her attention wasn’t just on how to use the machines—she kept examining their structure.
Greta soon realized that these machines were incredibly complex—there was no way she could figure them out in just a day or two.
But Greta wasn’t in a rush. As long as she didn’t make any major mistakes, she’d get to stay at the Textile Works, and she’d have plenty of time and opportunity to study the power looms!
Soon, after several days of technical training, all the female workers passed their assessments and officially started their jobs.
Greta, Mrs. Lu, and Mrs. Zane were assigned to work together. Mrs. Lu and Mrs. Zane were quite pleased, pulling Greta aside and saying, “This is wonderful! The three of us can work together and look out for each other!”
Greta smiled and said, "Yes! This is really wonderful!"
On the first official workday, the Female Supervisor assigned tasks to the female workers, several overseers watched over them, and all three machines at the Textile Works started up, officially beginning production.
On their first day using these power looms, the female workers found everything new and were amazed at how efficient the machines were!
Meanwhile, at the Palace of Qin, Su Li received the daily report from the Textile Works saying that the female workers had all completed their training and officially started production.
Su Li was very satisfied with this progress. At this pace, they would be able to complete Mr. Chow's order from Southland right on time.
Mr. Chow’s order was huge and the time was tight—there were only ten days for production.
For a traditional loom, this timeline would be impossible. But with the new automatic power looms, it wasn’t so urgent—just steady production, and in ten days, the goods would be ready.
Su Li attached great importance to this batch of goods, so she personally came to the Textile Works to inspect.
Su Li patrolling various places in Chang'an was a common occurrence. The locals were long used to Chancellor Su’s inspections.
"Look, Chancellor Su is here!" That noon, as the female workers finished their shift and headed to the canteen, someone suddenly spotted Su Li in plain clothes, accompanied by a few undercover guards.
Su Li was always very low-key during inspections, dressed simply, riding in an ordinary carriage, and accompanied by a few personal guards. She didn’t have the air of a grand chancellor—more like a young lady out for a stroll.
"Ah! Chancellor Su! This is the first time I've seen her so close!"
"Wow, Chancellor Su is so young and beautiful!"
The female workers were all extremely excited to see Su Li.
Some were so excited they almost forgot to eat, craning their necks to catch another glimpse of Su Li.
Su Li smiled and nodded to everyone, then entered the Weaving Hall with the Supervisor to check on the production progress.
The Supervisor reported, "Chancellor Su, all three power looms are running smoothly. The female workers have mastered the operation, and production is on schedule."
Su Li nodded. "Very good. Safety and quality are our top priorities. If anything goes wrong, don’t hesitate to report it immediately."
The Supervisor replied, "Rest assured, Chancellor Su. We’ve already implemented strict safety protocols and quality checks."
Su Li smiled. "Good. Keep up the good work. If the order for Mr. Chow is finished ahead of schedule, everyone will get a bonus!"
The female workers cheered, their enthusiasm soaring.
