What Happens If We Mess Up the Order

No matter how much Greta looked down on Princess Jade Hayes in her heart, there was no denying the charm of Chancellor Evans. The female workers were so excited they forgot to eat, staring at Princess Jade Hayes nonstop.

The female supervisor of the Textile Works personally came to greet Princess Jade Hayes, solemnly escorting Chancellor Evans into the factory. Only when the workers could no longer see her did they reluctantly go to eat.

In the cafeteria, Greta ate with her head down, pondering: Why did Princess Jade Hayes come to the Textile Works herself?

Nearby, Mrs. Zane and Mrs. Lu chatted away with the other female workers about the event.

A voice drifted over: "Our Textile Works is especially important, so Chancellor Evans came to inspect personally!"

Greta looked up and saw a female worker, eyes sparkling, talking animatedly while eating.

Other workers brought their bowls over to listen. The worker, seeing a crowd, became even more smug. "I'm related to our factory supervisor. I heard the cloth we're weaving has already been ordered—it's a huge order, very important! That's why Chancellor Evans herself came to check up."

"Oh, so that's how it is!" The workers felt proud as they listened. "Who would've thought our work was so important!"

But Greta was thinking something entirely different.

She was pondering: If this order is so big and so important, what if she sabotaged it? That would make her stand out for sure.

Greta thought for a moment, her eyes darting mischievously, then buried her head in her bowl and kept eating.

Inside the factory, the female supervisor led Princess Jade Hayes on an inspection tour.

Once the machines start running in the morning, they keep going until the evening shift ends. The women take turns having lunch, but the machines never stop.

So when Princess Jade Hayes entered, she saw three looms in motion. The women weren’t quite experts yet, but their technique was solid.

The supervisor walked with Princess Jade Hayes, explaining as they went. Princess Jade Hayes was quite satisfied with the state of the factory. Afterwards, they went to the supervisor’s office, where Princess Jade Hayes said, “This order is extremely important. I’m counting on you for everything.”

The supervisor quickly replied, “Rest assured, Chancellor Evans! I’ll deliver this order on time, with quality guaranteed!”

“Great, I’ll be waiting for your good news,” said Princess Jade Hayes.

With that, Princess Jade Hayes, busy as ever, left the textile factory.

That afternoon, the women were still talking about the Chancellor’s visit as they worked. By dinner, everyone was eating in the cafeteria when the supervisor walked in, clapped her hands, and announced, “Quiet down, everyone! I have a few things to say. We’ve taken on a major order, so you all need to be extra careful and responsible at work. Give it your absolute best—no mistakes allowed! If you mess up, you’re out. Got it?”

None of the women wanted to lose their jobs at the textile factory, so they quickly replied, “Understood!”

After the supervisor left, the women kept eating. Mrs. Zeng, curious, asked Aunt Lu, “Aunt Lu, what do you think will happen if we don’t finish the order?”

Aunt Lu thought for a moment and said, “I guess we’ll have to pay compensation?”

Mrs. Zeng nodded, “Of course we’d have to pay.”

A relative of the supervisor couldn’t help but chime in, “You don’t know the half of it! If we mess up this order, paying compensation is the least of our worries. There are bigger consequences!”

“Oh? What consequences?” Greta’s ears perked up, eyes fixed on the woman.

The woman pursed her lips, “This order is for a big merchant from Southland, Jin Kingdom. If we mess it up, merchants from Southland won’t buy from us anymore. Just imagine losing such a huge market—how serious would that be?”
