No Room for Error
Just as Sean Hayes finished speaking, a voice sounded at the door: "General Hayes, this time we absolutely cannot afford any mistakes. I had to swallow my pride to secure this order. If we fail to deliver on time, not only will we lose money, but my reputation will be ruined!"
Sean and Jade Hayes turned to see Uncle Yuan Jie and Aunt Chen entering together.
"Uncle, Aunt, please, have a seat." Jade quickly greeted them.
After everyone sat down, Yuan Jie looked visibly exhausted, and Aunt Chen wore a weary expression as well, though both seemed in good spirits.
Jade smiled and said, "Thank you, Uncle, for bringing in the first major order for our Textile Works."
Yuan Jie laughed heartily and waved his hand, pointing at Aunt Chen. "Jade, don’t thank me—if you’re going to thank someone, thank your aunt! She used her family connections to land this big order in Southland."
Jade quickly thanked Aunt Chen, who shook her head and smiled. "Jade, you’re being too formal. I want the Textile Works to thrive as much as you do. But this order—there’s no room for mistakes. Originally, Mr. Chow only placed orders in Southland, and he’s very picky about fabric quality. Your uncle and I ran ourselves ragged and pulled every string to get him to work with us. Mr. Chow is the biggest textile merchant in Southland. If we succeed with him, other Southland merchants will follow suit and cooperate with our Textile Works in Qin. But if we mess up this first deal, it’ll be nearly impossible to break into the Southland market in the future."
Jade nodded. "Aunt, I understand—this partnership with Mr. Chow is crucial. It’ll decide whether our Textile Works can capture the Southland market. Uncle, Aunt, don’t worry! Our power looms produce top-quality fabric, with high efficiency and output, so our costs are much lower. Great volume, excellent quality, affordable prices—we have a clear advantage. Once we break into Southland, our reputation will soar, and the orders and silver will just keep rolling in!"
Yuan Jie laughed loudly. "Well said! Qin is about to earn Jin’s silver!"
After chatting a while longer, Uncle Yuan Jie and Aunt Chen got up to leave. As they headed out, they reminded Sean again and again to keep a close eye on the Textile Works and make sure the first batch of goods shipped smoothly.
Sean promised, "Don’t worry, Uncle, Aunt—I’ll personally supervise every step. Not a single problem will slip by me!"
After seeing them off, Jade returned to the weaving hall, where the workers were busy with the power looms, all focused and energetic.
Sean followed Jade inside and whispered, "Jade, do you think someone will try to sabotage the shipment?"
Jade pondered for a moment, then replied, "It’s possible. The Textile Works has a lot of competitors, and this Southland deal is a big one. If someone wants to stir up trouble, this is their chance."
Sean nodded, eyes sharp. "I’ll increase security and double-check everything."
Jade smiled. "Good. The first batch must be flawless. If we pull this off, the Textile Works will have a solid foothold in Southland."
Sean grinned. "Don’t worry, Jade. With you overseeing things, nothing will go wrong!"
Jade chuckled. "Don’t flatter me just yet. Wait until the shipment reaches Southland safely—then you can praise me all you want."
Sean laughed, his eyes full of admiration. "Alright, I’ll save the applause for later!"
