Chapter 1400

On the other side, Rives was surrounded by countless hurricanes, his hair exploding all at once. Within the raging winds, thin bolts of lightning appeared out of nowhere, devouring the surrounding wind elements and rapidly transforming the area into a hellscape of thunder and lightning.

Thick bolts of black lightning filled an area over a thousand meters wide, striking Rives' shield again and again. Chaotic mana and destructive power surged—outside, only the flicker of black lightning could be seen. Rives himself had vanished behind the storm.

Meanwhile, the Faceless Abomination's other beast claw, with its gaping maw at the center, spewed a milky-white beam at Leon. The beam seemed to pierce space itself, instantly striking Leon's fusion shield. Within the thick beam, terrifying mana and destructive force churned. Rule runes surfaced in massive swathes across the shield's surface—within just a second, more than half of the runes began to flicker, and the number kept climbing.

Leon’s expression was grim as he kept spitting out rule runes, silver-white symbols shooting forth, joined by a surge of dark power. The power of the Chapter of Beginnings blocked the beam for a split second—Leon’s body vanished from the spot. The beam, missing its target, carved a light trail dozens of kilometers long through the air, shredding everything in its path to fragments.

Within a range of over ten kilometers, three mountain peaks thousands of meters high were destroyed, and even more smaller ones were obliterated.

Meanwhile, Rives, who had been trapped in the thunder hell, burst out—his entire body charred, the surface of his skin burned away to reveal bloody, blackened flesh. He poured bottle after bottle of life potion over his body.

Such total-body burn and lightning trauma would kill any ordinary person by sheer pain. Rives gritted his teeth, a strangled cry escaping his throat. As the life potion soaked in, the scorched skin and flesh slowly regenerated. Yet Rives still couldn’t help but twitch—a sign that, though the wounds were healing, the pain was far from gone.

In less than twenty seconds, all four Fifth Rank Heavenly Mages were forced on the defensive—nearly overwhelmed by one-sided suppression.

Enraged, Daenoson, Rives, and Delton launched a frenzied counterattack, while Leon frowned and continued casting spells.

Countless spells rained down on the Faceless Abomination, but whether they were eighth-rank or transcendent ninth-rank spells, none could inflict any real harm. At that moment, Leon suddenly realized the truth.

This creature was the amalgamation of all the beings that once existed here. Yet not every magical beast or other entity was powerful—the upper body of the Faceless Abomination was clearly the strongest part, formed from the most dominant presence at the time. Only the torso and head were guaranteed to be the strongest, and only the most powerful entity would claim the body’s core after the fusion.

The four giant serpents serving as the lower body were mere slaves, beasts of burden forced to carry the upper half. That’s why they were so easily severed.

Had it not fused with those serpents, the Faceless Abomination might have been even stronger. But under the influence of the Seventy-Third Deity’s power, all that remained was the primal instinct to merge with every creature encountered here.

Such fusion doesn’t always yield positive results...

At least for now, it seemed that even ninth-rank spells couldn’t inflict any meaningful damage on the Faceless Abomination’s upper body.

“Delton, you bastard, what are you doing? Are you just here to watch the spectacle? If that ugly monster wipes us all out, don’t think you’ll get out of here alive!”

Leon glanced around, casting a few spells before abruptly stopping. Delton, already seething with rage, roared furiously. If not for the ongoing battle, he’d probably have rushed over to kill Leon himself...

Leon let out a cold laugh.

“Delton, if you think that’s enough to kill this thing, you’re far too naive. Haven’t you noticed? After its four serpent limbs were severed, the monster only grew stronger.”
