Endless Mountains and the King's Pillars

Chapter 1401

Within half a minute, the parts of the monster not yet pushed into the Wall of Mist began to be shrouded in gray. Where it turned gray, all luster vanished, and even the glow of magic faded away.

The spells unleashed by everyone scattered abruptly when they struck the gray portions of its body...

The monster roared in agony, but its body was completely out of control. A stream of gray light swept over it, and, as if petrified, it turned into a gray stone statue.

In an instant, the monster's stone statue body shattered into countless fragments, while the parts pushed into the Wall of Mist vanished completely...

The battle was over. Leon let out a quiet sigh of relief, and the others all exhaled deeply at the same time.

Against this kind of monster that simply couldn't be killed, if the fight had gone on, the winner would surely have been the beast, not any of us...

Rives flashed Leon a grateful smile—after all, without Leon in this fight, they'd all be dead.

Daenoson couldn't wait to turn and stride into the mountain range, heading deeper within. Delton, looking as though he'd lost his own father, shot Leon a venomous glare before following Daenoson into the depths.

Rives didn't follow. Instead, he sidled up next to Leon.

"Archmage Leon Merlin, we owe you everything this time. If not for your presence, I doubt any of us would have survived. It's terrifying to even imagine facing that tireless, utterly unkillable monster again—I never want to see another one like that in my life."

Now that this ordeal is over, I'd like to invite Archmage Merlin to visit our Storm Tower. I think our cooperation between Storm Tower and the Gilded Rose could go much deeper. The Azure Mana Elixir and Radiance Potion from the Gilded Rose are essentials for us now..."

Rives suddenly became polite, even taking the initiative to show goodwill. Leon found it a bit odd—by rights, Storm Tower's strength far outstripped the Gilded Rose. Stormhold had dominated the region for thousands of years, and even the Odin royal family couldn't shake its position. Why the sudden friendliness?

Right now, the Gilded Rose's relationship with the Sanctum of Light was anything but good—in fact, it was downright hostile. The Thorned Crown's conflict with the Sanctum of Light was already out in the open, and with Thorned Crown now under Leon's banner, they're bound to be enemies. Add in the rabid nature of those Sanctum fanatics, and war seems inevitable.

Storm Tower's relationship with the Sanctum of Light wasn't great either, but not nearly as bad. Then again, the Sanctum doesn't get along with anyone...

Now that Storm Tower is reaching out, Delton will probably overthink things. Wouldn't be surprising if those mad dogs decide to bite Storm Tower too.

Leon was puzzled, but he didn't reject Rives' gesture. Storm Tower controls Stormhold, one of the three largest ports on Odin Kingdom's eastern coast. The Endless Sea's resources can all be found there. Anyone wanting access to the Endless Sea has to go through Storm Tower.

Working with Storm Tower would be ideal—it means access to a wealth of Endless Sea resources.

After a brief exchange with Leon, Rives flew deeper into the mountains. Hovering in midair, a faint smile played at his lips as he glanced at Delton's distant figure, eyes full of disdain.

Foolish lot. The Sanctum of Light's mad dogs—they think they're untouchable. Has their rabid behavior really made everyone too scared to provoke them these days?

It's just that nobody wants to waste time arguing with a mad dog...

What does the wealth of these ruins matter? No matter how much treasure is here, it's just dead things. Archmage Leon Merlin is the greatest treasure of all.

Delton, that idiot—supposedly a Worldshaper, too. Ha, some Worldshaper he is...

Just now, when Archmage Leon Merlin was unraveling the Endless Mountains, didn't anyone notice the power he displayed?

Every stone pillar—Archmage Leon Merlin used a completely different method with each one. In just a few minutes, he pinpointed the critical spot. Even though I'm no alchemy expert, I can tell Archmage Leon Merlin is far stronger than any Worldshaper I've ever met. Even compared to the Three Saint Alchemist Deans of Astral Academy, he might not be much different.

He's already got one foot in the door to becoming a Saint Alchemist!

Not only is he a master of alchemical potions, but his expertise with alchemical arrays is just as formidable. And that magical artifact of his—the ornate Arcane Wheel—I heard before that Archmage Leon Merlin owned a Personal Essence Relic, but now it's become a Mythic Artifact...

And those terrifying steel warships—all of it shows that Archmage Leon Merlin's mastery of alchemical potions, magical artifacts, golems, devices, and arrays has already reached the threshold of sainthood.

Plus, Archmage Leon Merlin seems to have a great relationship with Astral Academy. Isn't it obvious what that means?

Behind Archmage Leon Merlin, there's definitely a Grand Astromancer—and who knows, maybe he'll take over Astral Academy someday!
