Chapter 1399

This monster was most likely created by the Seventy-Third Deity to guard these ruins. After devouring all living things here, it no longer had any sources to consume and could only reach level forty-six.

Now, after swallowing two Second Rank Heavenly Light Mages, its aura has noticeably grown stronger. If it manages to consume and fuse with a few more, and rises another level, everyone here will die...

There's no sign of the way we came anymore. Other than killing this monster, there's no other choice.

Leon figured it out, and so did everyone else...

"Everyone, we must use our strongest powers now. You all understand—if this monster devours two more people, it may rise another level, and none of us will leave here alive.

Death itself isn't frightening. But to be eternally fused into this monster, with even our souls unable to escape—that's a fate worse than death. If we don't work together, none of us will get out of here."

Daenoson stood atop the Serpent-Tailed Beast's head, shouting gravely. As he spoke, he began chanting a spell; wounds split open along his wrists, and his blood sprayed into the air, forming a crimson magic circle.

Something terrifying seemed to roar from within the magic circle, and a bloody radiance spilled out, falling onto the Serpent-Tailed Beast.

In an instant, the hundred-meter-tall Serpent-Tailed Beast writhed in agony, its body swelling rapidly to two hundred meters. Its scales shattered and blood gushed from countless cracks, only to coagulate and form a new layer of crimson armor. Within seconds, the beast became a blood-red giant, its aura at least four or five times stronger than before.

A savage, bloody, cruel, and frenzied aura filled the air. The monster’s four serpent heads turned simultaneously to look at the Serpent-Tailed Beast, their cold eyes brimming with undisguised murderous intent.

Daenoson was using his trump card now, and everyone felt a chill—this was the Chester Family’s forbidden technique.

Most of the Chester Family’s battles rely on magical beasts; few of their mages can fight directly. Instead, they focus on enhancing their contracted beasts’ strength. This blood sacrifice burns one's own blood and life force, fusing mage and beast together to dramatically boost the contracted beast’s power.

But most of the Chester Family’s contracted beasts sign symbiotic contracts. The life force burned in the sacrifice isn’t just the mage’s—it’s also the beast’s...

That forbidden technique just now burned at least ten percent of their life force. The loss is permanent. For Daenoson, whose contract with the Serpent-Tailed Beast grants him a lifespan several times longer than ordinary mages, using it just now cost him at least a thousand years of life...

Daenoson was going all out, and Delton had no reservations about exposing his full strength.

Delton crossed his arms over his chest, half-kneeling in midair, chanting a hymn. The majestic song echoed across the world. In the sky, a Gate of Radiance with pure white wings slowly appeared. It opened, and a pillar of holy light enveloped Delton.

The light gathered into countless white feathers behind Delton, instantly forming four massive wings, each over ten meters long. As the wings beat, radiant feathers drifted down, and all powers except the holy light were repelled from around Delton.

Leon squinted at Delton, silently muttering, 'As expected.'

It’s said that the founder of the Sanctum of Light once discovered the Dominion of the Lord of Radiance. Although it was a ruined dominion, many of the Lord’s former servants remained—slaves created by the Lord of Radiance, whom humans called angels...

Now it seems those angelic beings, almost like elementals, must have reached some agreement with the Sanctum of Light—otherwise, Delton wouldn’t be able to manifest these angel wings at all.

And a four-winged angel at that—the power of such a being should be at level forty-eight...

On the other side, Rives of Storm Tower also realized it was time to go all out. He produced an ancient Stormhorn, infused it with mana, and a deep blare echoed as the world’s hurricane forces converged upon it.

Within seconds, a surge of dark green wind force erupted from the horn’s tip. Rives gripped the base as if holding a blade, while the gale formed a hundred-meter-long wind blade. Along its edge, tiny spatial rifts clung tightly; with a casual swing, the wind blade sliced space like soft cheese, leaving fine cracks in its wake...

All three were going all out. Aside from them, everyone else from the three major factions kept their distance. The Second Rank Heavenly experts who stayed would just be fodder—this kind of battle didn’t need their help.

Leon floated in midair, the Arcane Wheel hovering above his head. Chains of runes linked the Book of All Spells and Death Tome to the Arcane Wheel, while the Doombringer Staff’s Violet Dragon Avatar manifested as a massive spectral dragon behind him.

The four of them floated at the monster’s cardinal points, but it seemed only interested in Daenoson’s Serpent-Tailed Beast. Its four giant python limbs writhed, propelling its enormous body toward the beast.

Seizing the moment, Rives struck first. Wrapped in hurricane energy and gripping the Stormhorn, he arced around the monster’s back and slashed one of its giant pythons with the hundred-meter wind blade.

In an instant, the wind blade’s vibration frequency soared, and the dense spatial rifts nearby became a field of black spikes. When the wind blade struck one of the monster’s giant pythons, it was like two steel bodies colliding at high speed—sparks flew, and the spatial rifts only shattered scales, scattering fragments everywhere.
