I Am Allergic to the Red Truth Pill
"Chloe Zhu..." Mason Fu looked at her.
Chloe Zhu nodded at him and said, "You weren't meant to die. Mason Fu, who killed you?"
"It was... Kevin Yang! It was him!" Mason Fu said. "He told me Ms. Rachel Zhang wanted to see me, so I went to her place. On my way back, I took a shortcut through the grove, and that's when he showed up!"
"Oh, come on! Your cultivation is leagues above Kevin Yang's! How could he possibly lay a finger on you?" James Kee blurted out, eyes popping in disbelief.
"I was completely powerless at that time, couldn't gather any spiritual energy at all," Mason Fu replied. "It started right after I drank tea at Ms. Rachel Zhang's place."
When your own life is at stake, nothing else matters. He just told the truth.
"Ms. Rachel Zhang!" Jun Lionhead pressed, voice sharp as a blade. "Didn't you just claim he never visited you?"
Ms. Rachel Zhang's face was pale, but she forced herself to stay calm. "I... I just didn't want trouble, so I said I hadn't seen him. I have nothing to do with this! It must be Kevin Yang's grudge against Mason Fu—he did it!"
"Someone," Jun Lionhead called out, "Go search Ms. Rachel Zhang's residence. See if there's any Green Numb Bamboo."
The Enforcement Team received the order and left.
It didn't take long before they returned with half a jar of tea leaves.
Those tea leaves contained the poison of Green Numb Bamboo.
"Ms. Rachel Zhang, what do you have to say for yourself?" Jun Lionhead pointed at the tea leaves.
"This... this... I remember now. I once personally washed Green Numb Bamboo, and then happened to get some fresh tea, so I roasted it myself!
You know how roasting tea has to be done by hand! Some must've gotten mixed in. And I don't drink tea myself, so I never realized there was a problem with it."
Jun Lionhead shook his head. "Green Numb Bamboo is always washed by hand, and tea is usually roasted by hand too. But you're a Level Thirteen Spiritual Healer, the most important Department Head in the Eastern Alliance, and you don't know this basic fact? That's hard to believe."
"Mason Fu's death really has nothing to do with me—I was just careless—"
"Someone!" Jun Lionhead interrupted her. "Ms. Rachel Zhang is a prime suspect. Make her take the Red Truth Pill!"
"No! No!" Ms. Rachel Zhang shook her head in panic. "I don't want to take the Red Truth Pill! I'm allergic to it! I can't take it..."
Despite her screams, she was forced to swallow the Red Truth Pill.
And then... everything came to light.
She hated Chloe Zhu for setting her up, and hated Mason Fu for ruining her spotless reputation—so she planned to get rid of them both...
"Colin Cao," Jun Lionhead called.
"Elder Jun Lionhead," Captain Colin Cao replied respectfully.
"Vice President James is not fit to continue running the Enforcement Hall. Until the President finishes the exam, you'll take orders from me," Jun Lionhead announced, stripping Vice President James of his authority.
"Yes, sir!" Captain Colin Cao replied.
Vice President James nearly ground his teeth to dust, but... rank always wins.
Besides, Elder outranks Vice President by two whole levels...
...
In this case, the victim—Mason Fu—survived after all.
So, according to the Enforcement Hall's rules, Ms. Rachel Zhang only had her Healer's License revoked and was expelled from the Spirit Alliance.
As for Chloe Zhu, she went on with her assessment.
She was testing for Level Thirteen.
After three full days of examinations, she passed!
Her examiners were President John Summers and another Vice President.
After the exam, they looked at her completely differently.
It was the look you give a true genius.
And there was plenty of curiosity mixed in, too.
"Chloe Zhu, who is your mentor?" President John Summers asked.
"It's Elder Jun Lionhead," Chloe Zhu replied.
