I Have Already Killed Her for You
"So Elder Jun Lionhead was your mentor! Why didn't you say so earlier?" President Summers' curiosity turned into understanding, and his gaze instantly warmed.
"I honestly didn't know my mentor was an Elder of the Spirit Alliance until he showed up that day," Grace replied.
"No wonder..." President Summers nodded. "The Lionhead Family is renowned for their mastery of spiritual medicine and deep heritage. It's no surprise they could teach a disciple as talented as you!"
Grace honestly had no idea what connection her mentor had to the Lionhead Family.
But she kept quiet.
......
After leaving the exam hall, Grace went home for a good bath and changed into fresh clothes, then headed to Apricot Hill to thank her mentor.
"Mentor... I'm so grateful to you," Grace said. "If you hadn't come to Four Symbols City, Ms. Rachel Zhang would have finished me off!"
Jun Lionhead smiled, "I've already taken care of her for you."
"Huh?" Grace's eyes widened in shock. "You killed her?"
"People like her are nothing but trouble. When you weed, you have to pull out the roots."
Grace paused for a moment, then said, "Mentor... In my heart, you're like a celestial being—pure, flawless, untouched by the mundane world. I don't want you to be tainted by blood because of me."
"Is that really how you see me?"
Grace nodded.
Jun Lionhead smiled and said, "Now that she's gone, the Department Head position in the Herb Division is yours. Congratulations, Chief Grace Julian."
"Me? Chief?" Grace pointed at herself.
"A twelfth-level Spiritual Alchemist can be Deputy Chief. Thirteenth-level can be Chief. Fourteenth-level gets you Vice President, fifteenth-level is President, and sixteen to eighteen is Elder," Jun Lionhead explained. "You're now a thirteenth-level Spiritual Alchemist, so Chief is just right for you."
"Was it Elder Jun Lionhead who promoted me?" Grace asked with a smile.
"No! Elder Jun Lionhead still has to avoid favoritism," Jun Lionhead said. "This was President Summers' decision."
"President Summers..." Grace rolled her eyes, thinking it over. "Oh, I get it! Promoting me as Chief lets him do Elder Jun Lionhead a favor and also undermines Vice President Ji—a win-win!"
"It's rare for someone so young to understand the ways of the world."
"I'm not that young anymore..." Grace muttered.
"By the way, I still don't know—what year were you born?"
Grace glanced at him and said, "Mentor, when a girl gets older, you shouldn't ask her age. It's heartbreaking."
Jun Lionhead smiled, and his smile melted the ice and snow, bringing warmth like spring.
"Mentor, I once saw a book in the Celestial Library. It recorded the ancient families of the Ten Desolations Continent," Grace said. "Among them was the Lionhead Family, which has lasted for ten thousand years and produced many outstanding Spiritual Alchemists. Their heritage runs deep. Since your surname is Lionhead, are you from the Lionhead Family?"
Jun Lionhead paused for a moment and said, "I am indeed related to the Lionhead Family."
The Lionhead Family is the largest clan attached to the Qilin Divine Clan.
"I see!" Grace nodded.
She felt that such a background was exactly what her mentor should have.
"By the way, Mentor, um... Shannon came to see me."
Jun Lionhead's eyebrows twitched, but he said nothing.
"You once said that if she came to Four Symbols City and was still willing, you would marry her... Now you're an Elder of the Spirit Alliance and a member of the Lionhead Family. If you propose to her, it should be no problem."
