Crisis Before Entering the Demoncloud Zone

2/27/2026

Sierra Shaw put on a show of sadness. "Ever since last time, I felt it wasn't safe there, so I wanted to avoid them. That's why I wandered outside—and somehow ended up here."

"I see. Well, you're safe now. Hurry and find a place to hide." Evan Yang said.

"Can I follow you?" Sierra suddenly asked.

"That's not possible. I have things to do and I'll be leaving soon," Evan replied.

"Makes sense, since you're from the Immortal Realm. But I heard there's been a theft in the Demoncloud Zone recently. The Demoncloud Demon Lord is furious—and not only that, he even called in another Demon Lord," Sierra said.

"Another Demon Lord?" Evan asked, puzzled.

"That's right, the other Demon Lord is called Morak. They're good friends. Supposedly, the Nine-Aspect Beast thief was caught, but it seems the beast was tampered with, so the Demoncloud Demon Lord brought it to Morak. But even Morak couldn't solve it, so they went to Demon Mountain and started arresting some person—" Sierra said.

Evan knew Sierra was talking about him, but he feigned surprise and asked, "How do you know so much?" "I just heard it as gossip," Sierra replied.

"I haven't heard anything myself, but it's true Demon Mountain is searching for someone. Still, the Demoncloud Demon Lord shouldn't be in the Demoncloud Zone right now," Evan mused.

"You can't be sure. It's possible a Demon Lord left someone behind to keep watch," Sierra said.

"That's true," Evan said with a smile, though he made a mental note to be cautious later.

"Don't take chances. Demon Lords are terrifying—they can see through a lot, including things like invisibility. Nothing escapes them," Sierra warned.

Evan was shocked—she was talking about him. But he hadn't told Sierra about his invisibility, so he steadied himself and said with a smile, "I see, that's pretty interesting."

"This isn't about interesting or not. Anyway, be careful. Also, I have a magic treasure I got long ago. It's not much use to me, so I'll give it to you," Sierra said.

"No way," Evan objected when he heard Sierra wanted to give him a treasure.

"Why not? Just take it—it's only a magic treasure. You saved my life twice," Sierra said.

"What does it do?" Evan asked, curious.

"This treasure is called the Resonance Bell. It causes intense dizziness—especially useful against a single expert," Sierra explained.

"Resonance Bell? Why don't you use it yourself?" Evan asked, curious.

"Like I said, it only works on one person at a time, and you can use it just once a month. You saw earlier—there were several enemies. If I used it on one, what about the others? The treasure would be lost," Sierra said.

Evan nodded. "You make a good point, but I still can't accept it. You should keep it for yourself." "No need. Treat it as my gift to you," Sierra insisted.

"Well, in that case, thank you," Evan said.

Sierra laughed. "Alright, I should find a place to hide. Goodbye." With that, she turned and left.

Watching her leave, Evan held the bell-like item in his hand, muttering, "What a strange thing."

After a while, Sierra vanished. Evan thought for a moment and retraced his steps to find Clara Snow. Meanwhile, Sierra reappeared nearby, accompanied by her black-qi-shrouded subordinate. "Master, why did you do that?"

"Don't you think it's funny? This time I managed to make Demoncloud lose his own treasure. It's just too amusing," Sierra laughed.

"Why did you give him that treasure?" the subordinate asked, puzzled.

"He's going to the Demoncloud Zone, and I can't show my face there. With this treasure, at least he can stay safe once," Sierra laughed.

"Master, why are you helping him?" The subordinate was even more confused. As a major Devil Realm powerhouse, why help an Immortal Realm person—and let him steal a Demon Lord's treasure?

"No reason. I just find it interesting," Sierra laughed.

The subordinate was confused and more lost than ever, but Sierra continued, "Your arrangements for those people were pretty good."

"Thank you for the praise, Master," the subordinate replied.

Sierra laughed. "Go on with your work. I'll call you if I need you."

"Yes, Master." With that, the subordinate disappeared.

Sierra stood alone in the void, watching Evan with a smile. Evan had no idea he was being watched—he simply lacked the strength to sense her presence yet.

At that moment, Evan returned to the inn. Clara Snow asked, "Where did you go?" "Nothing much, just saw an acquaintance and went to say hello," Evan replied. "You have friends in the Devil Realm?" Clara looked at Evan curiously.

"It's nothing. By the way, let me ask you—what's the relationship between Morak and the Demoncloud Demon Lord?" Evan asked curiously.

"They're friends," Clara answered.

"So what does Morak actually do? Is he powerful?" Evan asked. "That's an odd question—aren't all Demon Lords powerful? Each one is a ruthless killer, with countless deaths under their belt. Morak especially is said to experiment on people, mostly with seals," Clara explained.

"Seals?" Evan was startled. "That's right, seals. His sealing arts are infamous," Clara said.

"Got it. Now I know why Demoncloud sought him out," Evan muttered. "Why?" Clara didn't understand what Evan meant.

"Because the Nine-Aspect Beast was sealed. Demoncloud Demon Lord couldn't break it, so he went to Morak. Looks like even Morak couldn't do it, so now they're searching for the two of us," Evan explained.

"Are you sure?" Clara asked.

"Yeah. They don't know the Eight-Facet Mirror is in our hands, but they do know the Nine-Aspect Beast's condition is our doing," Evan said.

Clara nodded in understanding. "It's fine. Let's just lay low for now. After a while, we'll see how things play out."

Evan nodded. He needed to wait for the next period without lightning, so he was waiting—and soon, about a month had passed.

"Be careful. If fate allows, we'll meet again," Clara said with a smile.

"If nothing happens, I shouldn't ever come back to this place," Evan joked.

"I never asked you to come. I meant if I ever reach the Immortal Realm, maybe I'll see you there," Clara laughed. "You're coming to the Immortal Realm? Better not. If the Immortal Realm people find you, you won't be as lucky as me—they might drag you off to the Immortal Realm Alliance," Evan said.

"I'm not that unlucky, but time's running out. You'd better get going," Clara said.

"Alright. I'm off," Evan nodded and turned to leave. Clara watched him go and sighed, "I hope you'll be safe. You're an extraordinary person in the Immortal Realm, and a member of the Heaven-Battling Clan. If anything happens, Ming Yang will be frantic."

Evan had no idea what Clara meant. He was already outside, waiting for the right moment. When the time came, Evan turned invisible and slowly snuck in, searching for an exit.

Time ticked by. Elsewhere, the Demoncloud Demon Lord was shocked. "Someone snuck into my territory again!"

"Are you sure?" Morak asked. "Definitely," Demoncloud replied.

"Let's go. Not many know the entrance—maybe we'll find some clues," Morak urged.

Demoncloud nodded. In a blink, both appeared in the Demoncloud Zone and saw Evan.

Evan sensed the terrifying aura, but before he could react, Demoncloud shouted, "Who dares enter my forbidden zone!"

Evan was startled and quickly hid in the shadows. Yet Demoncloud and Morak still stared in his direction.

"Damn, they really saw through me—just like Sierra said." Evan was shocked and quickly took out the Resonance Bell.

Seeing the Resonance Bell, both Demoncloud and Morak were stunned.

"Damn it, kid—where did you get that treasure?" Demoncloud demanded.

Judging by their nervous reaction, Evan realized the treasure was genuine. He smiled, "Planning to attack me? Then I won't hold back."

"Who sent you? Are you here to steal my treasure—Immortal Realm Alliance? Or that Immortal Lord?" Demoncloud raged.

Evan hadn't expected his identity to be exposed. He laughed, "No, I'm here for the treasure myself. Any objections?"

Demoncloud was furious—a Profound-Immortal from the Immortal Realm was threatening him! Morak studied Evan and frowned, "You're Evan Yang."

"How do you know?" Evan asked, puzzled.

"Your disguise technique is impressive, but to us Demon Lords, it's nothing. You're still yourself. I've seen your portrait—and you came with two others, right? You even destroyed the Devilshade Well," Morak sneered.

"Devilshade Well? He destroyed that too?" Demoncloud was shocked.

"That's right. When I went to spread the news, I saw portraits of three people. He's one of them. Didn't expect him to find his way to the Demoncloud Zone. Demoncloud, we need to capture him—otherwise, neither your treasure nor what I want will be ours," Morak said.

"Don't worry. He can't escape. Even with a treasure, it's single-use," Demoncloud snorted.

Evan was frustrated—the treasure could only deal with one person, not multiple. All he could do was wait for someone to make a move, stun them, and then retreat into his Strange Spiral Shell. Survival mattered most; he couldn't die at the hands of Demon Lords.

"Exactly, Demoncloud. Who goes first?" Morak laughed.

"I'll go first. When I'm dizzy, you must seize him," Demoncloud said.

"No problem, Demoncloud. Go ahead. Once he uses his treasure, I'll capture him," Morak said.

Demoncloud nodded. Evan gripped his treasure, ready. He'd never witnessed a Demon Lord's true strength, so he felt uneasy.
