Demon Sacrifice

2/27/2026

The Demoncloud Demon Lord flicked his finger, and before Evan Yang even knew what was happening, he was sent flying, slammed hard into the ground, and seriously hurt. Blood gushed into his mouth and he almost blacked out. All he could think was: way too strong. But even then, he didn’t forget the treasure in his hand.

Evan activated the Resonance Bell, and for a moment the Demoncloud Demon Lord got dizzy. Right as Morak was about to grab him, a wild gust swept Evan Yang away—so fast even he barely knew what happened. He felt like he was about to die; it had been ages since things got this bad. Then everything went black.

The Demoncloud Demon Lord snapped out of it and shouted, "What just happened?" Morak said, "No clue. Some weird wind snatched him away. Let's go after it!"

The Demoncloud Demon Lord was fuming. "What? How can this happen?"

Morak didn't waste time explaining. He and the Demoncloud Demon Lord rushed after the wind, but even Demon Lords couldn't catch it—it was that crazy strong.

In the end, the wind vanished, and Morak and the Demoncloud Demon Lord lost all trace of Evan.

"Damn it, he really got away?" the Demoncloud Demon Lord growled.

Morak frowned. "Only someone with Demon Lord-level power could pull this off."

"A Demon Lord? You think a Demon Lord's helping him?" The Demoncloud Demon Lord was stunned. Morak said, "Not sure, but I've got a hunch. Too bad I couldn't tell which Demon Lord did it."

"Damn it, there are only a few Demon Lords in the Devil Realm. Let's ask them one by one," the Demoncloud Demon Lord snapped. Morak said, "Some Demon Lords never bother with anything. Can you even find them all?"

"Are we just going to let it go like this?" the Demoncloud Demon Lord said, furious.

"It's not urgent. That kid wants to go to the Demoncloud Zone for some reason, so if we wait there, he might come back," Morak said. "He's not stupid. After I seriously injured him, who knows if he's dead or alive," the Demoncloud Demon Lord said angrily, fretting over his lost treasure. "There's nothing we can do. I'm even more anxious than you. If he dies, the hope for the taboo seal is gone," Morak sighed.

After thinking it over, the Demoncloud Demon Lord had no choice but to agree. The two returned to the Demoncloud Zone and hid themselves. Meanwhile, Evan Yang was completely unconscious in a cave, with a woman sitting nearby—none other than Xiao Xiang. "I didn't expect Morak to show up too. Luckily I knew, or you'd be dead for sure," Xiao Xiang sighed.

Xiao Xiang examined Evan Yang's body and was shocked to find he had already recovered more than half, though he hadn't woken up yet. "This kid's body really is amazing," she said in surprise.

Knowing Evan Yang would wake up on his own, Xiao Xiang left.

"Master, saving him like this—if those two Demon Lords find out, they'll definitely cause you trouble," the black-qi subordinate said worriedly. "Don't worry, it's fine. If they can find me, let them try. For now, nothing's happened, right?" Xiao Xiang said with a smile.

The subordinate was helpless, unable to understand why his master would risk so much to save an unrelated Immortal Realm outsider.

After many days, Evan Yang finally woke up, feeling groggy and sore all over. He checked his body and found it was mostly healed, with his injuries greatly improved.

"What exactly happened to me?" Evan Yang wondered, confused.

"Someone saved you," said Soul-Reaping Water from within Evan's body.

"Someone saved me? Who?" Evan Yang asked curiously.

"I'll show you a scene and you'll understand," Soul-Reaping Water said with a smile. A memory image appeared before Evan: a gust of wind swept him away, then he ended up in this cave, and soon a woman entered—the woman was Xiao Xiang.

"Why is she here?" Evan Yang exclaimed. "No idea, but I guess she was the one who saved you," Soul-Reaping Water said.

"Impossible. With her strength, how could she rescue me from Demon Lords?" Evan Yang said, not believing it.

"I don't know about that. All I know is she was the first to appear here, then she disappeared," Soul-Reaping Water replied.

This made Evan Yang very curious—was Xiao Xiang hiding something from him? Why did she show up here? He walked out of the cave and found it was a remote place, with nothing around.

"She's gone," Evan Yang said.

"Probably," Soul-Reaping Water replied.

Evan Yang had too many questions and really wanted to ask Xiao Xiang for answers, but he had no idea where to find her. He felt helpless.

Unable to find Xiao Xiang, Evan Yang had no choice but to leave, planning to look for another opportunity. But Evan knew he couldn't show himself carelessly—if the two Demon Lords spotted him, he'd be in big trouble, since his invisibility was useless against them.

Where should I go? Looks like I can only send out a clone." Evan Yang decided to use his avatar to investigate, while his true body entered the Strange Spiral Shell.

"How is it? Can we leave yet?" the Wine Beggar asked curiously when Evan Yang entered. "We'll have to wait a while longer," Evan replied.

"Why?" the Wine Beggar asked, puzzled.

"I ran into two Demon Lords. They're probably lying in wait. If I go out now, there's no chance of winning," Evan Yang said with a smile.

"Demon Lords? You saw two Demon Lords?" the Wine Beggar was shocked, and Lydia Yang was too. "Are you alright?" "I'm fine, really. Don't worry, I'll definitely find a way out," Evan Yang said.

The Wine Beggar and Lydia Yang still weren't reassured, so they kept asking questions. Evan Yang explained what happened, and after hearing it, both broke out in a cold sweat. Escaping from Demon Lords was incredibly dangerous.

"Alright, I'm fine. You two keep resting. Once I find a way, I'll let you know," Evan Yang said. Then he found a place to cultivate, while his avatar went outside.

Evan Yang's avatar was still him, so he could sense everything happening outside.

"Demoncloud Zone, Demoncloud Zone—there's no way I can go there now," Evan Yang muttered. So he waited another month. Over the next month, Evan wandered the Devil Realm, using his avatar. He wasn't afraid of any danger and roamed everywhere.

He wandered through some famous places in the Devil Realm, but soon received shocking news: Devil Realm forces were fighting Immortal Realm cultivators in a certain area.

"The war started early? That can't be right," Evan Yang thought, confused.

After carefully considering the news, he realized the battle was happening in the Fiend Realm.

"A big battle—maybe I can use this chance to escape," Evan Yang thought. He brought the Strange Spiral Shell along, letting his avatar carry it as he headed to the area.

Sure enough, when he arrived, many Devil Realm experts had gathered—most were Demon Emperors. Every so often, a group of Demon Emperors entered through the same route Evan had used before.

"If I can blend in with one of those groups, that'll work," Evan Yang muttered to himself.

Evan Yang paced around, trying to figure out a plan. Just then, several Demon Emperors appeared and sized him up. One laughed, "Hey, we've got a ready-made candidate." "Ready-made for what?" Evan asked, startled. "Nothing much. Come with us, or you'll die right here. If you agree, we can recommend you to Magic Mountain. How about it?" another said with a grin.

Evan Yang knew they were up to no good, but since he was just an avatar, he wasn't worried. He smiled, "Thanks for the trouble, seniors."

"No problem, no problem. Come with us," one said with a smile, while the other two secretly laughed.

From their conversation, Evan Yang learned their identities: the first was Demon Little-Ling, the second was Demon Second-Ling, and the third was Demon Big-Ling. The three brothers were out on an errand and decided Evan looked suitable, so they brought him along.

Evan Yang knew things weren't that simple, but he wasn't worried. He was soon taken to a nearby tent, where Demon Big-Ling said, "You two wait outside. I'll go report back."

"Alright, big brother," the other two said. Evan Yang nodded as well.

Demon Big-Ling glanced at the other two, secretly sending them a message before leaving. Evan Yang activated his Thousand-Mile Voice to eavesdrop on their conversation.

The tent was a little distance away. When Demon Big-Ling entered, he saw a fat man sitting at a table, frowning.

"General, we've found someone," Demon Big-Ling said.

"Oh? Where did you find him?" the man asked.

"You told us to find someone to fill in, so we went out and happened to see a suitable candidate. We brought him here," Demon Big-Ling said with a smile.

"That's great. Take him to join the others, and tomorrow, send them all to the altar," the general said with a smile.

"No problem. I'll do it right away," Demon Big-Ling replied with a smile.

Demon Big-Ling returned outside and smiled at Evan Yang. "Your lodging is arranged. We'll get your paperwork done soon."

"Thanks," Evan Yang said gratefully, though he knew their real intentions.

Soon, Demon Big-Ling brought Evan Yang to a fortress-like room. Inside were eleven others; with Evan, there were twelve. Just as Evan was about to ask something, Demon Big-Ling grinned and said, "Stay put. Tomorrow, it's your turn."

He locked the door and left. The eleven people inside all stared at Evan Yang with strange looks, until one finally asked, "Are you a volunteer?" "Volunteer? Volunteer for what?" Evan Yang asked, puzzled.

"To volunteer as a Demon Sacrifice," the man replied.

"Demon Sacrifice?" Evan Yang was very curious. What was really going on? The conversation in the tent had sounded strange too.

"So you didn't know. Looks like you were tricked," the man sighed. The others looked at Evan with pity.

Evan Yang really wanted to know what was going on, so he asked, "I don't know—what is a Demon Sacrifice? Can you tell me? I'm new here."

The others were already in despair and didn't react, but the one who spoke to Evan Yang sighed and said, "Since that's the case, I'll let you die knowing the truth."
