Evan Chu glanced at Roxanne Lin's shocked expression and said, "Roxanne, I've left a strand of my divine sense in your mind. You might be able to use your divine sense to check the situation inside your sea of consciousness. Now that the Divine-Blood Parasite has fallen asleep, this is exactly the moment to imprison it—maybe you'll be able to find its location now."
Roxanne nodded and immediately used her divine sense to inspect her own sea of consciousness. She'd checked a few times before but never found anything. This time, though, she actually discovered a red worm inside her mind—its appearance was a bit like a silkworm, almost unbelievable.
"How could a worm like this appear in my mind? What on earth is going on?" Roxanne exclaimed in shock.
"Roxanne, now isn't the time for questions. Try to find a way to imprison that Divine-Blood Parasite first. There's not much time. If the parasite adapts to the Yin-Yang Qi, it’ll be much harder to force it back to sleep. Save your questions for after you've got it locked down," Evan said, still moving as he spoke.
Only someone like Evan Chu, a true defier of the heavens, could keep fighting for so long. Anyone else would’ve surrendered ages ago. Roxanne didn’t hesitate any further—she focused her mind, and her life-bound Nirvana Fire instantly covered her entire body.
The Nirvana Fire didn’t harm Evan at all. Slowly, the flames began to flow into Roxanne’s sea of consciousness, quickly surrounding the Divine-Blood Parasite.
Roxanne didn’t attack the Divine-Blood Parasite with her Nirvana Fire, because Evan had warned her—the parasite possessed tremendous power, and a direct attack might instantly wake it up. That would be real trouble.
She carefully wrapped the parasite, then left a strand of divine sense to control the Nirvana Fire. This way, she could cut off the parasite’s control over her body. It was only a stopgap, not a true cure, but given the situation, it was the best she could do.
The process sounded simple, but it was actually extremely difficult. Roxanne was already drenched in sweat, her whole body exhausted, and the strange sensations from a certain place had almost turned numb. She couldn’t help but say, "Evan, stop—I’m so tired!"
Evan stopped immediately without saying anything more. He used Watershift to clean both their bodies in an instant, then asked, "Roxanne, how do you feel now? How long can your Nirvana Fire keep the Divine-Blood Parasite sealed?"
"I'm not sure exactly—maybe a year or two. But I’ve left a strand of divine sense inside, so I can monitor the Divine-Blood Parasite at any time. If I see it trying to break free, I’ll immediately use Nirvana Fire to seal it again," Roxanne said.
"Seeing you back to normal puts my mind at ease. You have no idea how terrifying you were when controlled—the things you said were so heartless, I lost count of how many times it hurt," Evan said softly, holding Roxanne in his arms.
"I'm sorry, Evan—I didn't mean it, I swear it wasn't my true intention. You have to believe me!" Roxanne said.
"Of course I know it wasn’t your true intention. Get some rest—I’m going to see Gavin Wei and ask if he knows any way to destroy the Divine-Blood Parasite," Evan said.
Roxanne nodded slightly in agreement. Maybe she was just too exhausted from the fierce battle with Evan; a certain spot still throbbed with pain, mostly because Evan had been so rough, and using Nirvana Fire had also drained her spirit power heavily.
When Evan found Gavin Wei, he was in the middle of refining pills—the whole room was thick with medicinal fragrance. Seeing Evan enter, Gavin came over, grinning, "Boss, why aren’t you with your wives? What brings you here—got something on your mind?"
"Yeah, I do. I came here for a reason—do you know anything about the Divine-Blood Parasite?" Evan asked bluntly.
"Divine-Blood Parasite? Boss, where’d you hear about that?" Gavin replied, full of suspicion.
"Just tell me if you know or not—don’t you know?" Evan pressed.
"The Divine-Blood Parasite is one of the most mysterious spirit bugs in the world, packed with immense power. If you absorb its energy, your strength can jump by one or two major realms. But if it takes control, you’ll end up a walking corpse—alive but better off dead. It’s a blessing and a curse," Gavin explained.
Gavin's explanation matched perfectly with what Old Black had said. Evan's only hope now was that Gavin could resolve the crisis brought by the Divine-Blood Parasite. "So, do you have any way to destroy the parasite?"
"Nope. It's a spirit bug born of heaven and earth, just like a natural treasure. Who's got a Divine-Blood Parasite? Is it you, Boss?" Gavin asked immediately.
Evan looked a bit disappointed. "Not me—it's Roxanne. She’s got a Divine-Blood Parasite in her body now. I was hoping you’d have a way, but I guess this is just her destined tribulation."
"Don’t be so pessimistic, Boss. I can’t destroy the Divine-Blood Parasite, but I can control it—for a while. At most, I can keep it suppressed for a thousand years. If your wife can’t refine it within that time, things could get ugly," Gavin said.
"You really have a way to control it for a thousand years? Tell me how—quick!" Evan demanded.
"Right now your wife can still act normal, probably because she’s using her life-bound flame to imprison it. But that seal won’t last long—ten years at most. Every time she does it, the effect will get weaker, until one day she won’t be able to control it at all.
When that happens, the Divine-Blood Parasite will erupt with all its old and new grudges, making her do truly insane things. She could be laughing and joking with you one moment, and the next she might try to kill you.
Or maybe she’ll be chatting in the main hall with everyone, and the next moment she’ll be standing there stark naked in front of the crowd—or even pick a man and do those things right in front of everyone. It’s all completely insane and unimaginable, and she herself won’t know anything about it.
Or she might have no memory at all during that time—just a walking corpse. It’s incredibly dangerous," Gavin said.
The more Evan listened, the more horrified he became. If things really turned out as Gavin described, it would be terrifying—Roxanne standing naked before everyone, how would the world see her? How would he see himself? If she ever learned what she’d done, would she even have the courage to face it, or to go on living?
"Then go treat her right away—give her a thousand years. I don’t want anything to happen to Roxanne," Evan said.
"Treating your wife will need quite a few spirit medicines. That’s a bit tricky—you’ll have to prepare them yourself," Gavin said.
"Just tell me what ingredients you need. I’ll scour all three realms if I have to," Evan said.
"Spirit medicines are easy—Frostbane Imperial Palace has most of them. But there are a few special kinds of blood that are really hard to get, like dragon blood, phoenix blood, qilin blood, barbaric flood-dragon blood..." Gavin rattled off a dozen or so rare types, leaving Evan utterly stunned.
